If it succeeds... they get money. Hard to see a downside here but then I'm not a Toy Exec. |
Yeah Haslab is exactly the place to monitor risk. Though there is still a lot of risk even using that, unless people are willing to pre-order without a prototype...
|
Given the recent trend of HasLabs, I want Power Rangers to stay far away from it.
The Rancor and the recent Ghost Rider car(and to a lesser extent the HISS Tank) came under alot of fire for the asking price nowhere being worth it, and given how their figures in general keep going up in price without upping the quality, I fear that all a potential PR HasLab would do would be to serve as an excuse to just not give us certain characters/mecha/whatever. Heck, let's use the current Ghost Rider HasLab for direct comparison. Let's say Hasbro put up the ZAP Astro Megaship as a HasLab project, and asked for the exact same asking price as the GR car: $350+shipping. Would that be worth it? God no. Heck, let's even add in stuff the Ghost Car has that the ZAP Ship doesn't: Some effects parts and some LEDs. Would it be worth it then? Not even close. But even despite that, let's say it gets funded anyway. All it would signal is that it's okay for Hasbro to continue ripping fans off. Meanwhile if it doesn't get funded, I fear they'd just take that as "Oh well we guess people just don't want PR mechs!" It's a really dumb situation that I'd want no part of. |
I felt the same way about Haslab Star Saber. I'm not too torn up about it but I basically feel locked out of ever getting a decent Generations figure of Star Saber between both the price and the comparably short pre-order window

The only awkward one would the the Kongazord, who would be forced to include another Bison and Eagle zord, and the Elephant, who doesn't have a dedicated zord combination. Otherwise, each Wild Zord has a dedicated combination that could be sold under an entire zord set. If anything would be HasLab, it would be the giant Red Lion. |
I think if they were to do WF at all, it'd just be the main mech and silver's.
|
That's the more likely case, yeah.
I'm just saying that WF's auxiliary mech have easy methods of getting released rather than some conga line of individual figures. |

Well this took awhile, but it's not that surprising in the long run: Lightning Collection backstock is popping up at Ollie's. Pumpkin Rapper and King Sphinx, specifically.
|
The leaks were legit. The next wave of LC is BM Yellow, DC Blue, DF Green, and a Putrid from Wild Force.
Also ZAP Astro Megaship goes up for pre-order tonight. |

Also forgot to mention that PRxSF figures for Ken and Cammy got announced, as well as figures for the Alien Rangers(Kakuranger) coming in 2023. |
That's fun, glad we're seeing more PR/SF stuff. Wonder who else might one, I hope Rainbow Mika : P. Might actually get Chun Li and Cammy to go with their SHFs (man I miss the Street Fighter SHFs, those were great, and they're still pretty solid).
|
some thoughts:
-ken's ranger form seems to be the most unoriginal -we finally got a yellow Buster which means the go-busters trio is completed so yay -no RPM next year?☹️ |

Oh, man. Ryu and Chun-Li's designs were great but Ken and Cammy's... ouch.
OTHER news is great! Full reveal of Wave 13 is nice, as-is the hint at Wave 14 -- pretty much confirmed LG Yellow by confirming LG, SPD and DT will all be complete next year. I doubt they're including Kat but we'll see... Kakurangers are also fantastic! Ninjawhite would be so so good to see... |

I've been thinking about this; when they get to Kat, would anyone mind if she's a 2-pack with Shadow Ranger? I've previously been annoyed by 2-packs including re-issues of previous figures, but I think that's mostly because it's been MMPR rangers yet again; especially when it's barging in on other teams haha. If it's fitting enough (like the Rita/Zedd 2-pack) and especially if it's re-releasing figures that are kinda hard to get now like Shadow Ranger and Timered, I think I'd be pretty down

That said, I think a 2-pack with Nova would be alot better off for everyone, since even by LC standards I think a Nova Ranger figure would be a rather budget release. |
With R/Y/PNK2, team is complete.

... I... GUESS I didn't have much of a point of reference for how this would go, but...
... huh??? |

two more Deluxe releases confirmed!
|
It's good to see In Space Silver getting reissued.
|
oh fuck the blue senturion??? i want him
|
Signalman is one of the best looking figures in the line so far oh my god! They gave him the whole Studio Series Hot Rod treatment and damn did it work; those colours just pop and he comes with so much. If this is how they handle other Extra Heroes with a lot of complex colours and extra suit parts like this I will not be disappointed
|
Something to note about the Blue Centurion release: It's actually labeled as Turbo, instead of being "In Space" like Phantom Ranger was. Could mean they're finally considering giving us some Turbo figures. Would love to have TJ as Turbo Red.
|
They did actually introduce him on the stream as the 'first' of their Turbo figures for next year! I do think it's funny we have both that season's extras before any of the actual rangers
|
Phantom Ranger is more extra. He wasn't really part of the team.
Power Rangers made that character more important than they were. Blue Senturion is effectively the 6th ranger of Power Rangers Turbo. Very similar to Magna Defender. Similar to others as well if PR how followed the Sentai format more. So I consider this the usually starting with the 6th ranger the line has done. I think that's why Phantom ranger didn't kick off Turbo. He's not really a team member. But he is important to Turbo and Space. Still surprised that Silver isn't a straight rerelease. It's on a new body. In contrast to space blue which was just silly. |

Extra Heroes are actually my favorite characters so I'm glad to see they haven't been skimped on. I think it's just easier to engineer blockier armor heavy suits. You don't have to worry about musculature and unique body proportions... and end up with ranger suits that have more muscles than their live action counterparts. |
Taking the mick?
Surely, I'm not the only one who feels like Hasbro are taking us for a ride by charging for Blue Senturian the same as they do for monsters or vehicle packs?
|
It looks a bit iffy at first, for sure, but then I look at him and realise compared to every normal LC release he has more accessories, more paint, better details... not to mention his armour to begin with probably necessitated some of it. I compared it to Studio Series Hot Rod over in Transformers -- a deluxe-sized figure sold at the Voyager pricepoint that had similar improvements over normal deluxes and came out a stunningly high-quality figure because of it.
It's certainly not something I'd want to see for every character, but I actually am quite interested to see it for certain designs and it certainly doesn't feel like they're just charging you more for the hell of it -- you can see where the extra money has gone here. If this is the treatment they want to give to other Extra Heroes like for instance Wolzard I'm all for it; this really just means we're getting a much more premium figure than usual |

Personally, I really hope that, should we ever get Battlizer figures, that they fall under the "Deluxe" label as well, given just how intricate those designs are.

Size comparisons of the various Dragonzords. So if you wanna display your figure by itself, the ZAP Dragonzord, while still a bit short, is the one that comes the closest to the scale we actually see in the show.
