Kyoryuger 28. Good action and twists that weren't all about Daigo? That is about as good as Kyoryuger gets. The only thing that let this episode down is Candi was a central part of it. Her acting is almost as atrocious as her song. I'm just glad I've largely been able to avoid all that until this point. |

The other characters, I'm not really sure how you could miss their character focus? Ahim 's kind and charming disposition hiding regret and guilt for not being able to save her planet was touched on in multiple episodes, such as Episode 13 "Tell Me The Way", before finally coming to a conclusion in episode 41 ("Something I Don't Want to Lose"). Luka's back story is also well formulated throughout the show. She's a victim of a planet that was overthrown by the Zangyack and therefore took care of her sister and other orphans after their parents were killed during the invasion (6, "The Most Important Thing"), however she couldn't afford the medicine to keep her little sister alive and therefore focused on stealing money in order to one day open a haven for children orphaned by the Zangyack (34 "A Dream Come True) but after meeting Marvelous and Joe, decided to instead of focusing on one part of the problem, help stop the entire empire. Her seemingly self-centered personality masks her sisterly nature, especially around but not exclusive to Ahim, that creeps up in a lot of her spotlight episodes (again, an example being episode 6). I could go on because there are examples of character focus on pretty much every episode and I haven't touched on Joe, Marvelous and Gai yet, but I really think you're way short-selling Gokaiger. I think the character focus on the season is fantastic and it is by far the Sentai team I've most connected with. Anyway, enough of my Gokaiger fanboying! Lately I've been watching Denji Sentai Megaranger and honestly I've been really enjoying it, far more then I thought I would. The characters all act like High School kids, which is a refreshing change from the usual attempts at depictions of High Schoolers in PR and SS and the story is interesting enough to keep me coming back. The show has a good balance of dark and light-hearted and the action is pretty stellar. I enjoyed Power Rangers In Space and it is pretty strange just how drastically different it is. I'm not exaggerating when I say the only similarity is about half of the fight scenes and the mecha fights, which just makes Saban's claim that SMF is the "most expensive season" all the more hilarious. |
You guys make Gokaiger sound amazing, but I really wanna watch it with more sentai under my belt first.

For me, Boukenger was a meh show until Bouken Silver shows up. The Rangers were okay to me and like many I loved the mech parts. But Silver is far and away my favorite character in that show, and I liked him enough to keep watching.
And Gokaiger was my first ever Sentai, so I wouldn't say that a broad knowlege of sentai is a requirement. Remember, the show was still targeted at a primary audience that remembered only as far back as maybe Boukenger. |
I actually never had a problem with the Jan speak as it made sense to me.

Sentai is too kiddy for me in comparison to shows like Rider or GARO. So I thought I may as well watch Boukenger until I end up running out of shows to watch. I also I get that Gokaiger is marketed to a general audience as well, but I wanna have a personal investment in the franchise before watching. |
