I felt like that lesson episode came across a bit better here than it did in SPD. But that may just be my personal preference. And Doggie looks like such a badass when he's strolling around in those sunglasses :lol

Actually, I felt the opposite.
We have a character literally saying he's perfect. Why would he suddenly begin trying to use Doggie as a crutch?

In SPD, the characters we had made sense, their personalities felt more like they'd be willing to use Doggie as a crutch to fall back on.

But I can't argue that he rocks dem shades :lol

I agree. It's a difference of the set ups made in the shows. SPD is about inexperienced second string heroes (AKA "B-Squad"). I can see them wanting a crutch like Shadow Ranger. However, the Dekarangers are experienced and assumed to be the frontline defence. Why would they want a crutch?

It's the a difference of comtext made by the differences of the shows.



On a side note, I might actually like Dekamaster's first episode better than Shadow Ranger's first episode. They are pretty much the same episode, but Dekamaster used a bullet to free Swan instead of an energy blast. This is the only time where Disney's bullet edits bothered me in the slightest.

I'm sorry, but I cannot support any love for SPD. It wasn't horrible, but the fact that every ranger had to have mutant super powers really killed a lot of it for me (I've already mentioned other things that bothered me many pages ago).

I loved DekaMaster piloting the PatSigner, saying that you shouldn't drive drunk :lol

Wow. I honestly think Toei lost a bet with Toho or something that requires them to use that Edo set in every series or something...

yeah, this is easily becoming my favorite sentai (like i knew it would :lol ) the team just works so well, and they feel like a true emergency task force, its awesome

and the father is just hilarious because how clueless he is

Oddly, all this talk about DekaRanger is making me want to give it another shot. I watched, I don't know, a dozen episodes or so before i gave up because it was too childish (is the closest term I can think of right now) for me to really enjoy it.


I've started watching AkibaRanger, again. I saw the first few episodes, 3 or 4, maybe, then just sort of let it fall by the wayside. I was totally digging the show though, and bought all three SHFs on pre-order, so I don't know why I stopped watching it.

So I'm picking it up again, and just finished eps 1 & 2. I've seen 1 at least twice before, and the first time they strike a pose, and the colored smoke bombs go off behind them, and their reactions to said bombs, totally cracks me up.

Having Deka Red appear in ep 2 is also contributing to making me want to give DekaRanger another go.

Interesting. I just found that someone had subbed Sun Vulcan so I downloaded the entire series.

Unless you need a sleep aide, I wouldn't recommend it.

No matter what, I do want to see every Sentai series in the long run. I'll give it a shot.

Hoo boy man. That is a mighty slow and boring series. I also aim to watch every show but man that was a painful one for me to get through.

Honestly, the only reason why I would finish Sun Vulcan would be if I finished every subbed Sentai and Kamen Rider series.
Until that point, I'm perfectly content letting it sit. :lol

See I liked that repetitive part of the show. And the whole "Fight on Dekaranger!" line at the end of the episodes.

Hard to imply something that's already true :lol The mecha and suits design are the only saving grace. That plot and the actors were boring as hell.

While I disagree, it still doesn't deserve to be lumped in with Sun Vulcan. Overdrive is a much fairer assessment :lol

Tetsu is fairly bland but just by virtue of being an actual person and not a ball of light he's awesome.

Well, when you compare anyone to Sam they seem like the most interesting character in the world.
I'd rather watch Jayden and Troy recite Shakespeare than have another Sam/Omega Ranger...

So is it as boring as Dynaman? Because that show is pretty down right awfully boring. The only way I would ever make it past the third episode is if it is subbed.

I don't know what it is though, but I find every Sentai series I have seen episodes to before Bioman to be extremely slow moving while all of the Kamen Rider series seem to be interesting and engaging.

Oh, unbelievably so. I haven't seen Dynaman, but if Dyna is as boring as Sun Vulcan, then I'm adding it to the avoid list :lol

I find it ironic that Sen is probably my favorite character (I think someone got him some acting lessons after episode 10, thank god), but I still think Bridge was better :lol

I'm thinking about watching Goseiger, but I probabbly won't watch it until the 4/5ths of a year gap we'll get with Megaforce >.>

He feels like a watered down Bridge.
That, and he can deliver a line like an actor and not a 5th grader reading his line for a school play, now.

My final thoughts on 43-51:

Overall this was really good. There were some slow episodes from 44-46 but that was the worst of it. These episode focused on Yabaiba being the last Org after the deaths of TsueTsue and Rasetsu. They were funny to an extent but also quite pointless.

Now when Yabaiba revived TsueTsue that was cool! Of course they had to ruin it by reviving the the 3 Highness Dukes as well. Who then magically made TsueTsue a witch (wasn't she one already?) and then they started listening to her commands left and right because she was the witch. I'd predicted for some time that the 3 highnesses would be fused into one org so that was satisfying even if the Senki suit itself just looked like a spare Yabaiba costume on steroids.

These are my thoughts on the final 2 episodes and are totally spoilered. Don't read if you want the fantastic ending ruined! WOW. The deaths of the Power Animals, of Sky Island, and GaoGod. Just wow. I never expected them to actually die. For the Gaorangers to be so utterly beaten. I know that it only lasted for the better part of an episode but it was brutal to watch them all lose their Animals and to watch GaoGod die in Silvers' arms :(

Quest 51 was also brilliant. Having only one sword to defend themselves the rangers fought a horde of Orgettes to get to Senki. When their attack failed they finally discarded their colors and used their civilian names. They were ready to fight with their lives and so they created a miracle. They awakened the rest of the power animals they'd never found and the ones that had died came back to life and restored their powers. Simplay amazing. Now they truly are the Hyakuju (100 Beast) Sentai. AND they defeated Senki while he was giant without being in their mecha. They wasted him with their beast blades and the Hyakujuken.

Overall I love this series to death. It had some fantastic villains (TsueTsue, Yabaiba, & Rouki) and a team of 6 awesome rangers. The mecha are brilliant too, tons of possibilities. I think when Toei said they wanted to get back to having strong and super powerful sentai with Kyoryuger they were referencing Gaoranger. My only qualm might be that Silver never joins the team properly. He's off on his own for the better part of his appearances but he's still an awesome character. I love you Gaoranger. Gao Soul Forever!

More Deka!
Recently, they just got their SWAT mode.
The more recent stream of episodes have been kind of blah. Tetsu's background was nice, but that aside, there really wasn't much notable episodes since Tetsu's introduction.

Anyway, I do like the lack of Igaroid spam. Makes them a lasting credible threat and not just target practice like the blue heads (I really don't remember the Deka name for them).

Oh man, I love the first action scene with the SWAT mode suits. And the SWAT theme song... uNF.

Shinkenger 20. You know, with 4/5ths of the first 5 characters considering going rogue to save Kotoha, it's pretty inappropriate to have the plot progress when a new Origami(made by Genta no less!) shows up.

That song is pretty damn cool, I must agree.

SWAT has one of the best power up insert themes.

To be fair, there's not that many(off the top of my head, I think 5?).

Even if every show had one, SWAT mode's would still be top tier.

ok, so finishing up Gokager finally...I have to say have enjoyed this trip. Sure, a lot of it was just gimmick filler...but there was some nice development. Now the Mecha...no connection at all to it. They could have blown up the Galleon and I could have cared less...but the build up to the fights main character fights...oh yeah...good times, especially Basco.

In my binge, I did watch the vs Goseiger movie, and I did enjoy it was actually VS them for a bit...that and when they turned to Dynaman at the start they used the flashy entrance as an actually attack lol...
