Not super big on it, mainly because the previous series made me come to loathe a protagonist with multiple partners that fuse, but whatever.

Can't wait for Universe later this year! It really feels like they took the good things about XW/Fusion & just cut all the garbage out. And thank God we're getting Tri dubbed. So happy to see Digimon picking up again!

I'm surprise that most fans don't like the dubs of Season 1-3. I know the dub have a lot of issues with it, but I would imagine it would have more fans defending it given how nostalgic it is.

I think the Tamers dub is pretty fine. Aside from Gallantmon's voice, it's pretty solid.

Very surprise to see a theater release for the movie. I still remember seeing Digimon: The Movie in theaters back in 2000.

I appreciate it greatly, but I don't think they're thinking things through with this theatrical release. Digimon on its best day has no way of competing with the more-popular always-relevant Pokemon. People will more likely spend their cash on something like that than a cult-following franchise in America like Digimon. Not to mention how slice-of-life the film is & the fact that it's acting as a foundation for the future movies instead of being it's own beginning-middle-end story. I can find people being put off by it. I hope it does well, but I won't pretend it's gonna be like the reaction to the DBZ films in the United States.

That's a problem I have with the Japanese version too tbh.

Anime film screenings do fine on their own. DBZ's a case of wide-spread popularity in the states (even people who don't even know much about anime know what DBZ is). Having been to screenings for stuff like Madoka Magica, Love Live, Tiger & Bunny and Expelled from Paradise, I can tell you that they'll sell tickets no problem. Digimon fans are more plentiful than you may think.

I think the Japanese version is better, myself.
I just don't like the dub's idea of having both characters speaking in tandem.

I understand why (2 become one, so both speak for the individual), but it also kind of diminishes the idea (The individual doesn't have their own voice, so (s)he doesn't really exist, it's just two people steering one car)

Ultimately, my issue is just that Takato and Guilmon's voice coming out of Dukemon just doesn't fit. It's too high pitched for my taste.
Kind of like Goku's VA continuing to voice him in DBZ even though he's an adult.

Digimon has a lot of nostalgia value for the people that grew up with seasons 1 and 2. I see people on Twitter and Facebook that are pretty excited for the English dub for Tri. Not everyone watches things subs and people like myself do have a nostalgia attachment for the old dub.

What? I'm like, 99% fine with Tamers' dub. Aside from a few dumb lines sprinkled around, my only consistent issue is Gallantmon's voice :lol

I just think Dukemon should have had a male voice.

Though to her credit his actress does make him sound somewhat regal unlike the dub.

The dub for Adventure 01 and 02 did had a lot of issues with them, but I still enjoy them for what they are. They did change the character names, did cut down the violence, bad voice acting and change the music but I still enjoy them. The English voices are just too iconic to me.

I mean if people can still enjoy the old DBZ Funimation dub with the replacement music, censorship on the violence, stupid story changes, the cheesy voice acting and cheesy dialogue then I can still enjoy the dubs for Adventure 01 and 02.

It's silly, it's cheesy, and it's full of Americanization. And it's cool to like it. It's just that it's cheese factors were off the charts, and I was wholly unprepared for it :lol

I notice on some Digimon youtube videos and other fan sites, if you like the dub than you are not a real fan of the series. The Japanese music is great and I do love Butterfly. It would have been cool if the dub did had the English version of that song. I still enjoy the charm and cheese factor that the older dubs had.

...so Power Ranger for two whole seasons (fuck the whole "super" title, they're just two seasons so far as I'm concerned) can have a re-do of the classic theme, because that's apparently what the fans want, but Digimon fans can't just get the season 1-3 theme which worked just fine? Yeah it was fucking corny, but I still get all warm and fuzzy when it starts playing and it's fine as it is.

This sounds like those spoof songs internet reviewers and commentators play that's "like" the classic theme of whatever they're showing, but isn't it because of copyright reasons. At least as much as I hate Frontier their different theme song was good, this is just annoying.

I wish they had made up a new song for it if they couldn't use the older ones. It would've been better than whatever random scratch sounds they had trying to be data.

Toei I think would used original song but saban own all music to it's show toei did not wNt to pay them go use or able to make update version. I still think toei better English dub of butter fly

I'm a huge Digimon fan. I like Digimon Adventure one and two. And Tamers is good too but took me a while to get into it. But Tamers does have a superior story compared to any other season. I like Digimon Adventure Tri so far but I don't like the execution of it. And idk how the dub will be compared to the original two seasons.

I do too. Digimon fans hate the dub of Season 1 and 2. Saban Americanize those two shows similar what Funimation did with Dragon Ball Z back in 1996-2003 (Both with Ocean voice actors and their own voice actors from Texas). It had music changes, changes characters names, editing down the violence, changing the show's tone, bad voice acting, cheesy and corny dialogue.

the thing is I don't mind the dubbed I read the comment once saying the dub was a good adaption did not stray too much from the original only Americanized what was a need. Anyway, some of the cast of tri-dub been given the ok to talk about one of them is Colleen OShaughnessy who is the original voice actor of sora returning to play sora.

As much as I'm trying to be excited about Tri getting localized it's just been so boring. The fact that they said part 3 would be calmer than 2, when 2 was a snooze feast, does worry me.

More info dub like many.dub these day will be closer to Japanese dub so no Americanization music will completely new and exclusive to the English dub

When I saw the Killing Joke in theaters, they had a small preview for Tri and everyone was like "OMG!" and "I remember Digimon!". It's cool to see people hype up for Digimon.

I hear Johnny Yong Bosch is voicing T.K and Tara Sands is voicing Kira. I guess the original voice actors for them could not return. It looks like Michael Reisz is not coming back as Matt. Lex Lang will likely return as Wargreymon seeing that he said that he wants to return for the role at Otakon last year.

Apparently so far a good chunk of the voice actors are coming back, one that isn't is Kari's voice and my personal reaction is "Oh thank god!"
