Gender Swapped rangers. I'd like them to explore it further. Right now the body really suffer from tolerance issues where joints are loose, especially the hips. Also the helmets clearly mean for other figures stick out like a sore thumb.
https://www.tokunation.com/forums/at...1&d=1669046334 Lady MMPR Red https://www.tokunation.com/forums/at...1&d=1669046334 https://www.tokunation.com/forums/at...1&d=1669046334 Sir MMPR Yellow Honestly the helmet redesign for yellow is the one I notice the least. Metallic yellow has a better helmet not because of the redesign but due to being able to remove the head safely on that body. https://www.tokunation.com/forums/at...1&d=1669046334 https://www.tokunation.com/forums/at...1&d=1669046334 Dragonzord in Battle Mode https://www.tokunation.com/forums/at...1&d=1669046334 |
I know it was not intended by Hasbro, but someone did research about this and helmets on women always appear disproportionate and larger than normal because womens heads are very near the same size and shape as mens but their torsos are smaller and shoulders are less prominent.
|
Thing is in the sentai footage at least, most of the female rangers are male stunt men. Tack on that many yellow rangers are male characters in the sentai.
Yeah there conundrum of what's realistic vs what you aesthetically expect to see. Though Hasbro's female bodies tend to make them seem really petite. Characters who do hit the gym and have muscle. Their torsos should be a bit more developed. The very last thing though. MMPR Red's helmet is just gigantic even for a guy. It's a giant motorcycle helmet. Jason Yellow, I think the helmet isn't as small as it seems. I'm just used to thinking about Yellow's on a female body buck. But this just come back to design. A designer would compensate for reality by just adjusting the sizes even if that would make the human head very small(or large). Like how Iron Man's legs in the MCU physically couldn't accommodate human anatomy. |

I think the rest of your point still stands, though. The designers do make choices that help balance the proportions. Helmets for the ladies tend to have less extreme protrusions and fewer large embellishments than the ones for the men, even if the overall base size of the helmets is the same. I think it also has to be said that the proportions of the male and female bodies in the Lightning Collection are not at all show-accurate. The male base bodies are WAY larger than the male suit actors' real bodies, so as figures, the difference in helmet sizes between the men and women becomes even more exaggerated. In reality, the size difference between a male suit actor and a female suit actor is not nearly as extreme, which definitely minimizes the proportional differences between them. |

It's true for Zyuranger and quite true for a bulk of Power Rangers given what 10 years actually coverers for the show. Then with Power Rangers, the actors(who tend to be noticeably bigger) in the suits vs the PR Stuntpeople vs the Japanese stunt actors are all different in size. I'd say the LC figures sit between the PR actors sizes and the stuntpeople. Though since it's generally two sizes, not much variation happening. |

well, could this match the teaser from Pulsecon???

I wish I could just get NinjaWhite and NinjaBlack on their own, but I'm not gonna kick a gift horse in the mouth. |
go go Alien Rangers.

A 5 pack? I mean, that's cool and all, but I don't exactly want the entire team :lol
|
Do the male bodies look like original sculpts? They look a little slimmer to me, but maybe that's just because the costumes don't have a lot of embellishments.
|
|
That's... pretty interesting to do that before the actual main mecha of the season! Keeps it spicy, though

So, I've seen the ZAP (Dino) Megazord at GameStop and possibly even the ZAP Astro Megazord (though my memory is spotty on that last one).
How exactly are they appearing on a brick-and-mortar shelf when they're billed as bitcoin/cryptocurrency items? More importantly, what about the ethical dilemma regarding bitcoin/cryptocurrency (and the fact that the bitcoin market is starting to run out-of-style and tank)? There's already been clap-back on the forums regarding Hasbro's direction...and the decision to engage in such things was actually mocked heavily before they were released and now everybody is basically saying "Gimmie, Gimmie!" |
That was specifically for the gold and black recolour of the Dino Megazord. Every other ZAP is as related to Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency as most Hasbro products.
|
Curious that it's the Tiger Zord, but hey, if this (And the Astro Megazord) fix the issues the Dino Megazord had, I might be willing to buy.

Anyone want my Red, Blue, and Yellow? :lol |
So it's an Amazon exclusive? Guess that's a trend now for the 5-packs. Also glad to see that White's alternate hands aren't generic 'karate chop' ones but are slightly curled; that should make for some pretty good poses!

We need splayed fingers, Hasbro! https://japanworldheroes.files.wordp...m-kitagawa.jpg |
I really would appreciate more alternate hands at some point. It's my biggest issue with pretty much every figure Hasbro puts out, actually -- Velocitron Override is sick as hell but she'd be even cooler with some extra hand parts! They're everything in expression!

Been watching reviews of the latest LC figures to get released, and I gotta say, the Ryu Ranger actually introduces a new bit of articulation that I really appreciate. The line is finally doing something that the GI Joe line has been doing for years: Having a ball joint at the base of the neck which offers better movement. When it comes to head-to-neck connection though, sadly, Hasbro still hasn't actually implemented double-ball pegs properly. So while the neck articulation is better, it's still not optimal.
They also started implementing drop-down hips like the GI Joe line has, but given that they often lead to the hips being loose and with not much in the way of extra range, I really wish that they hadn't. They could offer some great high kick potential if done properly, but standard ball pegs hips can offer all the range you'd ever really need if the proper pivot points are chosen and with much less of a chance of the hips being loose. Looking at the Alien Ranger promo pics more closely, it seems as though White is using this new articulation setup(you can see a very small gap at the base of her neck), while the rest of the team is reusing old parts, as evidenced by White being pinless but the rest of the team still having pins in their joints. I'd be totally down for other Rangers getting put under the "deluxe" line like Blue Centurian if it meant more hand accessories and paint apps. |
Rumors are going around that the next wave of LC that got leaked a few weeks back was confirmed to be legit at the same event that teased ZAP Tigerzord. For those that don't remember, that's Lost Galaxy Pink, Dino Thunder Black, SPD Yellow, and Dino Fury Blue.
Also allegedly there's gonna be a Tenga 2-Pack in the near future. And for anyone who wants mooks but didn't get the singular release of the Tengas, I highly recommend getting this 2-Pack if it ends up being legit, as I feel like the Tengas are hands down the best mook figures Hasbro has done to date. |
I think they already confirmed most of that wave with silhouettes at Pulsecon or something, right? Only missing DF Blue. Cool to know he's coming too though! After how they handled Go-Busters it's nice to see them keep going with the latest show like this

Looks like we've got a couple more re-runs in order; Hasbro Pulse have pre-orders up for MMPR Red and Drakkon

I like the Street Fighter x Power Rangers figures. I just hate how expensive they are and that they didn't bother giving us an unmasked head at least, given the crazy price.
I broke down and got the Chun Li one. I put the Playmates head on her. https://i.imgur.com/02784zc.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qs618ug.jpg https://i.imgur.com/BXKptJI.jpg Unfortunately, Playmates forgot to paint her sideburns so I did it for them. The mold already had the lines on there to show where the hair should have been painted. https://i.imgur.com/Q5cP9Pf.jpg https://i.imgur.com/EmdeouG.jpg https://i.imgur.com/KTpR1A3.jpg https://i.imgur.com/JyUAxDK.jpg |
Makes me wonder if the upcoming Jada Toys SF figures would fit on these bodies.
|
To use the Playmates heads, I had to do quite a bit of modification on the head to make it fit. If I get the Jada ones, I'll eave them as is to be the normal SFII versions.

Just leaked: Old figures are being renewed in the Deluxe Line under the title of "Remastered." Starting with MMPR Blue.
Whether you like the attention MMPR gets or not, this is overall a good thing, as it means that Hasbro is willing to go back to older figures and update them with the new articulations and joint setup as well as extra accessories and paint apps. I'd gladly update the few LC figures I already have if they turn out as good as some of the more recent ones we've gotten. |

Are they removing the alternative heads from the remastered line? I never really used those, as they were so inconsistent.
Also sad to see the old LC box design go away. But hey, at least Hasbro is making good on their less-plastic initiative. |

My friend gifted me TF Blue for my birthday. 2 down, 4 to go
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachmen...2/IMG_7829.jpg Looks like I got lucky and got a copy with some good paintwork on the helmet and chest. The waist and hips are very shaky and loose though, making it less easy to pose than TF Red. Seems to be a common issue with this release. Can't really recommend it unless you get it at a discount |
