I also think the proportions are spot on. If I could nitpick anything it'd be that I wish the non-flexing open hands were more relaxed for neutral poses. They're a bit too similar to the action-rage hands. Other than that this looks great. Even the chest logo is parts separated! |
I think my one other nitpick would be that the red parts on the antennae are stickers; I think those could have been separate pieces. Great looking kit otherwise, excited for mine
|
I don't see how you could make those red parts separate. The parts would be tiny. This is only barely larger than the SHF and if the parts were separate it'd need an incredibly small peg and hole.
|
Finished TaJaDor today and it's a decent build. There's some pretty lackluster parts separation though, like the red pieces on the chest being stickers and most egregiously the feet being all red instead of black with a red insert. The only stickers I can understand are the thin red lines on the outside of the upper arms given how small they are, though Bandai could've made those separate parts if they wanted to. I mean hell, they made the forehead gem/beak separate.
Like most Premium Bandi kits there's little here that feels "premium" but the standard of these models is high enough that even without surpassing it TaJaDor is still great. Hope this isn't the only OOO's alt form we get but I suppose if it had to be only one other I'm glad it was this. Can't wait for Black to drop in a few days! |

I'd love to be wrong, though I think we only got TaJaDor because it's special. (though any other forms would definitely be P-Bandai as well, which would just suck separately) |

I think they did hint at multiple combos; and OOO is one of those series alongside Kuuga, W and Den-O that always gets a bunch of merch (and for OOO it's always focused around Combos and Ankh). Preban FRS Rider kits have steadily been more and more open to having a lot more original parts anyway, as Tajador itself shows. I think we'll at least see Gatakiriba and Ratoratah

That's my thought too, yeah; it would mean that otherwise the combo change system was essentially just made for Takatorador and Takajaba (granted, those are so nice that's kind of worth it).
I think the main obstacle would be that each combo's three sections (head, arms, legs) are slightly different shades despite being the same colour; meaning different runners. Really obvious when you look at Gatakiriba in particular. Tajador was a lot easier in this regard as it's the only one whose colour is the same consistent shade throughout |
FWIW the MG Figure-rise OOO had a combo change gimmick with no other combos, though it is unlikely they'd make that same gimmick knowing the other didn't pan out.
Also not only is the part about more Preban alt forms true, we're getting Skull and FangJoker as mainline releases, which is pretty surprising. I would've thought for sur ethey'd be PB. I think if we got, say, ShaUTa or SaGoZou next it'd make me confident we'd get all of OOO's combos, as they'd need to be wholly original. |
Bandai just teased one of their upcoming kit reveals -- and it looks like Ultraman is going to give us their first Giant of Light!

It kinda surprised me that it wasn't the original Ultraman or Zero but also "most recent main hero" makes sense.
|
I think its Trigger because that's what was airing back when they started developing the Ultraman FRS line. Likely they thought it was gonna be a bigger hit than it ended up.

the turn-up gimmick is so extra i love it

Blade! Love it love it!
It looks like a clear piece over the mask so I'm happy. |

Still then he'd have a Blade kit that was accurate to Zi-O. All jokes aside, the use of clear plastic is great in the immediate, look wise, but yeah age really beats it to hell as a medium. Still theres nothing as long lasting that gives that clear look as clear plastic. Hopefully someday we'll engineer a clear material thats strong and clear indefinitely. Or at least you know better clear plastic. |
Also for the Ultraman FRS Kits its been revealed that we are not only getting Trigger, but also Zero as our first kits for ULTRA FRS. Both retailing in Japan for 3,300 yen each. November 2022 release for Trigger and December 2022 release for Zero.

There's a lot going on here with these kits:-
First of all, the Ultra kits have a RIDICULOUSLY high amount of parts separation. They have a full demonstration of the torso and I genuinely can't tell where stickers would even go unless they're gonna do the same thing as Rider and put silver foil behind the eyes. They also actually come with a good loadout -- Trigger has his sword and his beam; while Zero has his Zero Sluggers in normal mode, in the large combined blade mode and the Zero Twin Shoot mode. He has an extra head without Sluggers to go along with them, and an alternate wrist with his Ultimate Bracelet. Both of them have extra red colour timers too. Given these are retailing for a little less than the Riders, I'd say that's some pretty damn good first impressions! Wish Zero had a beam too but he comes with more than enough Next up, Blade has SO MUCH going on! First of all they seem to have improved the leg articulation again? There's a sharper knee bend present. He has a full set of 10 Rouze Cards, and his Blay Rouzer has both an alternate shorter blade for the holstered belt (I don't think I've seen any other Blade figure do this!), and an alternate part for the full deck of cards around the Rouzer's handle. He also comes with a similar smashing-sword-into-the-ground effect piece as the SHF! Shockingly, the belt also has a fully-functional transformation gimmick and is able to turn like the DX!! Since I believe it wasn't posted yet, Blade releases in December for 4,070 Yen Finally, they're also releasing a Blade Effects Set on Premium Bandai later this year. They haven't got full details yet, but like SHODO it's to include massive cards to recreate the visuals for his attacks, and also has a lightning effect piece https://bandai-hobby.net/site/nextph...item_02-03.jpg https://bandai-hobby.net/site/nextph...item_02-04.jpg https://bandai-hobby.net/site/nextph...item_01-05.jpg https://bandai-hobby.net/site/nextph...item_01-05.jpg https://bandai-hobby.net/site/nextph...item_01-07.jpg https://bandai-hobby.net/site/nextph...item_01-06.jpg https://bandai-hobby.net/site/nextph...item_01-09.jpg |

Blade was the first Rider series that I was able to watch. Holds a special place as the series that pulled me into the world of "Toku" I can only hope they release his Jack & King forms along with Garren (and Jack form), Leangle, and Chalice (and Wild form). I wouldn't say no to Glaive, Larc, & Lance... |
Very happy for Blade. I'm liking how Bandai keeps design variety with these releases. From the very simple Black to the more detailed Blade means building these in release order doesn't feel repetitive.
|
I just finished the Kamen Rider Black kit, and I'm a little disappointed in it. It just seems a little cheap compared to other releases.
The build was easy enough, but I had two parts (silver face piece and red ankle piece) break on me without much to cause a break. Another thing that annoyed me was the amount of black stickers. It's a super easy fix with paint, but it seems like it could have been easy enough to use black pieces in their place. It's not like they didn't already have a black runner. One of the stickers really confused me. It's a silver sticker that covers the silver piece at the bottom of the torso. I think it was meant to make the piece appear matte instead of shiny like the runner it comes on... But they have a couple of glossy black parts on the black runner separate from the matte parts, so it doesn't make sense why they didn't just matte the silver part instead of using a sticker. I think that all stands out more when the kit doesn't have any weapons or effect parts or a bunch of different colored runners. It's all a pretty basic kit that feels like it should have and could have done more. |
I don’t see a problem with the black line stickers. Maybe they could’ve done black rings on the ankles, but the lines on the head and collar would’ve been way too thin.
I will agree the sticker for the belly band makes no sense. On the show costume it’s like an odd, mildly iridescent pink band. Why they’d put a white sticker over that makes no sense. I also think the mould line on the shoulders is pretty inexcusable. Other than that I think the kit is really good. I painted the mouth on mine to be darker as well as painting the chest logo white along with the aforementioned light metallic pink belly band. I think it’s a really solid kit overall. |
Is FRS Black compatible with the Decadriver?

Unfortunately I lost the extra belts from my Decade kit so I can't test it. :( |

Well it's certainly not intended and the waist isn't shaped for it... but Belt D (nominally for Kuuga exclusively, which I think is pretty fitting) does in fact fit BLACK so he can wear the Decadriver!

Tsukasa wishes he was that cool.
I'm actually returning to my Black kit to make it even more accurate. I black washed the "meat" joints and making the helmet and shoulderpads glossy black. I think it'll look really good once I'm finished, or at least I hope. |

Absolutely beautiful
|
Agreed! You made an already-stunning kit (after finishing mine I think it might be my favourite of what I've got?? Strong competition in Decade and Rising Mighty, but) look even more beautiful
|
Thanks! It's a very fun kit to paint. Since so much is parts separated painting individual elements is quite simple, with the only meticulous elements being the belt and the black lines on the inset red parts, but both have such deeply and sharply sculpted edges it was quite easy.
I hope we get a Battle Hopper and Shadowmoon to go along with this. |
I also got the Kamen Rider Black kit and I absolutely love that thing. I don't regret passing on the Figuarts and if Bandai does all the Riders in the Figure-Rise series, I might just get rid of my SH Figuarts Riders. I prefer the scale of the kits and there is a sense of accomplishment in painting these instead of just using the stickers.
I definitely would love a Shadowmoon or Battle Hopper to go along with Black. |
They're doing all the Heisei Riders (and almost have done), and I imagine because there's so few of them, they hold the same appeal as the Heiseis and they're even more recent; they'll probably end up doing all the Reiwas shortly after too. So you can safely swap out that part of your collection!
The only question is the Showas... #1 and #2 are pretty much guaranteed, and I think RX is likely; but who knows if they'll go further than that |
Do you think we'll get any more non-main riders aside from geiz?
