Also, RyuseiOh (along with various other mecha in Super Sentai) are somewhat sentient. Surely that qualifies as them being names in the sense you're talking about? |

If it is sentient and directly identifies itself as something, I'll give you that, it's a name. But if it's just a giant robot the model of robot is not a name. Take the Voltasaurs for example, voltasaur is what Gabutyra is, its the identifier for the object so whether or not that translation is made up, it should be translated. But as Gabutyra is what the individual Voltasaur identifies itself as, that is its name and should be left alone. |
More Megaranger!
As I watch, I think I have a favorite character in Shun, Mega Blue. As a character, he's not something special or unique, but episodes focusing on him tend to be my favorites (Of the 15 episodes I've watched). I'm also really loving Galaxy Mega. Such a clean design. The Astro Megazord was one of my favorites in Power Rangers, and I love it just as much here. The Booster Rifle looks like glued together cardboard, but the rest of it, from the sword and shield to the robot itself, looks beautiful~ |

Well, the brand new series I have to watch with my laptop connected via HDMI under Media Player Classic, but that is for series like Gokaiger and beyond. Quote:
Let me ask you this out of curiosity. In ToQGer, do you want them to translate the villains names as Baron Black, Madame Black, and General Black instead of Nero, Schwartz, and Noir? Another example on translating names is sometimes they just don't sound right. Take the series Jigouku Shoujo for example. It translates into Hell Girl, which is what it is called in the US. I think it just sounds dumb that way as it should be Jigouku Shoujo. Yes, either way it correct, but just because it is correct does not make it sound right. Or another one, Golion. Yes, the Beast King being translated in English sounds fine, but what about the Golion? Would you rather they called the series Five Lion in the US? Quote:

Boukenger 3.
Boukenger is a bit messy, to be honest with you. I get that as they travel the world looking for Precious, different cultures and villains will come into play and that is actually an aspect of the show I love. No I'm more struggling with the Boukenger's themselves, in terms of travelling around the world their mecha is really practical. No the weird thing is the way the show focuses on speed, racing, like it's their theme when only one of them has a race car. Seeing a big dumper truck trundling along to the sound of zipping race cars is silly and not in a good way. And ironically the race car is probably the most useless out of the individual vehicles as well even if it fits the weird theme. |

Kyoryuger 29. Tessai is a badass - where is my Grey SHF?
I never felt much connection to Torin, but for them to be crying over a fake statue so convincingly, made it pretty poignant all the same. I should probably comment on the acting more, because for a camera so focused singularly on Daigo, or the under aged girls around him, the whole cast are really fantastic. Seeing everyone dealing with their own grief during these scenes while being slammed firmly in the background showed they were putting in more effort into their performances than the show honestly deserves. Really disappointed in the development of Carnival, so lame having the same gimmick as the mecha and mixing all the colours together really doesn't work for such a busy suit already. Not to mention the clustered, clunky and clusterfucky way he has to lock in the batteries and transform. Base Carnival is great, Climax is ugly and boring. The backup fight was actually way more impressive, it's a real shame that wasn't the focus, but I realise now hopes for stuff like that are pointless. Dat song though, so bad, although the genetic memory thing isn't quite as horrible as I might have expected. |
Finally on the Kyoryuger game, lol. Just finished Ep. 4, slow build up to the team as a whole was nice, made the characters seem a bit more invested into each other in the end of it. Don't feel the suits at all, just don't like the look to them one bit. Maybe I'll warm up but certainly not at the moment.
