Ah, got it thanks. I'll just stick with Space is awesome then, as that does seem a correct enough translation.
And yeah, Meteor as a character I do like so far. While I like Gentarou, it is nice to have a character kinda on the outside that really looks down on him, kinda like JK did but for more than just an episode. |
I like Meteor's Bruce Lee sounds. I prefer "It's Space Time!" Myself.
"Space Kita!" Oh TV-Nihon... |
Getting to the final stretch on Fourze, I think. Up to episode 33, so I have like..8 hours left to watch?
I've actually really enjoyed the series. I know some people don't like how campy it is, but that's part of the charm to me. I also really enjoy the astroswitch gimmick, and Fourze's design has really grown on me from when I first saw him. To be fair this is only the first series I've really watched. I mean I technically started with Wizard, but that's still ongoing and as such I've watched far more of Fourze than I have Wizard. I plan to watch Kiva and Ryuki next, most likely. Guess I should check out W as well as that seems quite popular. I do enjoy darker shows as well, kinda hoping to get a bit of that from Kiva, and I heard Ryuki was a dark series, is that the case? |

Wizard is all, but one of these days I have to continue where I left off with the original series. I had just finished episode 16 (or maybe it was 17, whichever was the end of the two part story) back in Sept and then I moved on to rewatch One Piece. Granted, there is no point in rushing since KIT is just over a quarter of the way done, but still. Of course, none of the Kamen Rider shows I really want to watch have been completed yet (Stronger, original, Skyrider), so maybe I'll make Amazon the next series I watch.

Yeah. It might not be the most gruesome, but Ryuki is just depressing if you get attached to any character beyond Ohja.

This is the second series I've had spoiled for me on this board, and it was one I just said I was planning to start watching. I was reaaaaally pissed when I had it spoiled that (Fourze spoilers) Meteor kills Fourze that it started to impact my enjoyment of the series leading up to that point. |

Places like this people are kinda used to everyone having already watched most everything, so spoilers kinda come up naturally. But I figured I was in a thread that was relatively safe to not read any spoilers in. Not blaming ya for it, just venting a bit I guess. |

Tis' appreciated.
How are the showa series' by the way? I know they won't be as flashy as more modern ones, but are they still a good watch? |

Thanks for the recommendations. Will probably start with Black since Black RX has a bit of a special place to me, what with Masked Rider and all that.

I'm on episode 17 of Ryuki. Man Gai is such a jerkass. Zolda is too but at least Zolda's fun to watch. Gai is just a big spoiled brat, Knight should have offed him. Ouja have been introduced and from what I read he should be a character to watch out for.

I saw episodes 17-26 of Kamen Rider OOO and damn is the show Brilliant and insane.
With Akira Date's debut, it introduces a friendly guy who is driven by his job in order to get 100 million yen. These two forces for me really create an interesting dynamic with Eiji. Gotou is also working hard in order to try to protect people. Combine with that the messed up relationship between Ankh and Eiji, Kizari and Uva along with Dr Maki thrown in and this show has amazing characterization. The relationship chart between all of the main characters (Eiji, Ankh, Uva, Kaziri, Dr. Maki, Goto, the President of Kougami, and Akira Date) makes a really insane fight that no one knows who is going to win or who is on what side. I like Kamen Rider Birth, not too overpowered and is presented as a Yin to Eiji's Yang. Cell medals and Cores working together. The fights are also more enjoyable as there is a lot more going on in fights now that we have 2 riders and a backup to protect our Yummy parent of the week. Instead of the previous fights in OOO where when a Greeed showed up along with a Yummy, it overpowered OOO now we have a better balance. I like the fact that random combos are being used more, it puts a lot more variety into the fights then just a Combo overpowering a Yummy and going into insta-win. No more can 2 Greeed show up and nearly kill OOO. Both sides have been balanced a lot more. However, with that being said. The yummies are getting more and more insane and the story truly shows that. The two parter with the Lion/Jellyfish Yummy did provide a lot of suspense with Eiji's condition and Akira Date being overpowered by the Yummy. It really did feel like the end when OOO was starting to get his butt kicked by the yummy. OOO turning into Tajador really did show the thin line between the villains winning and the desperateness that our good guys had. Latching onto whatever combo that falls into Ankh's hands does show the group is desperate. However, after the Parrot yummy two parter, I feel like the group is starting to gain more control over our villains with the reveal of Birth Day. I also like how OOO is going deeper into the concept desire and blurring the lines between true morals and good intention. Like the guy who wanted justice and the Hopper yummy accomplished that. Very smart writing that goes along with the insane relationships between the characters. Long story short, good episodes. BTW should I skip episodes 27 and 28 since it doesn't have much to do with OOO itself? |
I think there was a major plot development in those two episodes.
If not, don't skip them anyway. Never skip episodes unless it has to do with baking a cake or is Gekiranger's Christmas. |

And don't forget, there was this one time where Diend tried to destroy the world because Tsukasa didn't include him in his plan. I'd rather take an Iron Chef Kabuto Series than watch something that stupid again. |

Just watched the first two episodes of Kiva.
I..am so confused. I don't need stuff spoon-fed to me, but the show just gave no real information on anything. Like what the hell was with the giant dragon building eating the shattered Fangires? Just...nothing seems to have had any explanations. I'm guessing things start making sense eventually? I really like the show itself so far, I love the mood, I love the music (especially all the violins), it has a very classical gothic feel to it. And so fire I am really liking most of the designs (save for that horse dude...). |

Good to know it's not just me missing something then. At least I like the show well enough to deal.

I'm watching the Kamen Rider Decade Musical. Why, when I could watch three more episodes of Blade instead? Because it's a Saturday night and something this pathetic is fitting to that.
The prisoners' Listen Up song was pretty cool, though. |

Well, just finished Fourze. First Kamen Rider series I've watched to completion (since Wizard is still ongoing). Have to say I really enjoyed the ride. I can see why some people may not like the more goofy, lighthearted tone the series had, they really pushed the whole "power of friendship" thing, but to me that was part of the charm. Gentarou was a likeable lead, the supporting cast was great, I really liked the villains. Show wasn't perfect by any means. I'm not sure how I feel about how it all ended, namely how they brought Kengo back, I figured they were going to, and it just really cheapened his death and the emotional impact from that and his final letter. I also really don't like how quickly we got around to finding all the Horoscopes, you can tell they had to rush through that as the series was nearing its conclusion by the time we get to the real meat of the plot. I liked how the Zodiarts were introduced prior to that, we got some time to build them up, get to know the Switcher and their motivation, and when they had the potential to evolve passed Last One (oh how I missed hearing that menacing voice) it was an "oh shit" moment. But towards the end it was like, "Oh yeah this person is a Horoscope. They just need to press the Zodiart switch and they're good to go". Still, relatively minor complaints.
Not sure if I like it or Wizard more to be honest. I like Wizard for different reasons than I like Fourze. Anyways, as I said I've started watching Kiva. I'm only a couple of episodes in, and while I've enjoyed the little bits I've seen, and I'm sure as a whole I will enjoy the series, I can't say I like the idea of never having anything really explained. Don't spoon feed me everything, but for fuck's sake, give me something. Also will be starting Ryuki, probably sometime tomorrow. That should be good. I like the concept (it's like a Kamen Rider tournament deal, right? I love shit like that), and hearing that it's quite a dark series has me very interested coming off what was in-arguably a fun, lighthearted show. |
I'm at episode 19 of Ryuki. I really liked what Ouja did to Gai in this episode. Plus six Riders in one episode... 'nuff said.
