Well they have to do SOMETHING after they've exhausted the main Heisei/Reiwa Riders and probably figure that, like, a whole year of Skyrider, ZX and V3 isn't the most appealing thing to most fans... so yeah, I think we will get more non-main Riders before long!
Heck, we're getting Skull in a couple of months, y'know? I definitely think we'll see some popular secondaries and extras pop up. |

A question I keep asking in regards to Figure-rise is its future. With all main Heisei Riders complete, what next? We've got some alternate forms which is great and all but only TaJaDor stands out as fairly elaborate. (being mostly new parts) Is a line entirely of secondary riders and alt forms really feasible? Or will they mix in Showa and Reiwa to keep that relevance? I feel like secondary Riders are a must. I want to know this line isn't going to fizzle once it's used up all its main Rider forms. |
Outside of Showa and Reiwa main Riders, I think the most likely things are...
- A bunch of Den-O stuff - Kuuga Ultimate - Popular secondary Riders (Kaixa, Chalice, Accel) - Shadow Moon I think we'll see them mix it up a bit too. As an example, both this year and last had 5 retail releases; with 2021 having one non-main rider (Trychaser) and this year having two (Skull and Fang/Joker). I think that's a good sign that we'll see a mix of Main Riders and extra stuff once the Heisei project is done, and probably in an even more intense way unless they decide to go super hard on getting a lot of Showa Riders done quickly. There's also that, well... this is a franchise that puts out a new main hero daily. FRS is always going to have one main rider to do a year at least! |
I feel like Bandai is ignoring a potential windfall with Ryuki and Kabuto alone. Those suits could get a lot of mileage.
Also just going back to Yarlick's post, I am also in love with FRS Black. I put him on my Kamen Rider shelf for, I dunno, a few days? Now he pretty much lives at my computer. I hemmed and hawed over the SS SHF but ultimately the broad shoulders and stories of the rubber shoulders have held me back thus far. I really just love Kamen Rider Black and kinda want every toy of him ever, from Souchaku Henshin to all three Figuarts. :lol I actually went back to my FRS Rider shelf and am looking at my previous kits. I didn't put nearly as much effort and care into them as I did Black and it's making me want to go back. TaToBa in particular was a bit slapdash for me and I may dismantle him and try and clean up my work and add some more paint. These kits rule. |
I've definitely gone back and touched up my older FRS kits. Being able to breath new life into older kits feels really great. Sometimes it's just a matter of learning a new technique or finally figuring out a problem that stumped you.

I know a lot of you guys use nail polish to keep stickers down; can I ask what type you use? My FRS BLACK's power line stickers peel off so much and it's a very frustrating issue on an otherwise excellent kit
|
I know a lot of people use Mark setter for decals. Not sure how it does with stickers though. MS232 Mr. Mark Setter Bottle, GSI https://a.co/d/2oPb8QT

Whatever you use, you would want to test on something if possible. Like cut up an unused portion of the sticker sheet and stick it to similar plastic then cover it in nail polish to get an idea of how it looks/works. And I recommend using an ultrasoft paint brush instead of the one that comes with it. Ideally that brush gets cleaned with nail polish remover between uses. You basically just want to be careful of scratching the sticker details and nylon bristles can do that. Quote:

Yeah setter won't work for stickers because they're just paper. Setter will soak into them and ruin them. Nail Polish and certain clear coats are tick enough to not absorb into the paper between the adhesive and print.
Though in Black's case I would really recommend trying to paint the black lines in between the power strips. The plastic is specifically separated to make this as easy as possible and then you'd never have to worry about stickers again. |
Man, I picked up Pegasus Kuuga and I'm a little bummed. The parts separation is pretty weak, which isn't too bad since I always planend to paint it, but the bow gun being entirely black on its body sucks because colour-matching Bandai's gold is impossible. I'd rather have the whole gun gold and paint the black. Also mine has a really obvious imperfection on the forehead crest.
Also I ran out of my normal black and wanted to cover the seams on the legs, unlike, my Mighty Form Kuuga, and it's takign a long time to get a finish that matches the show's not-quite-matte undersuit. |
Here's a preview of FangJoker's runners. No surprises here, but figured someone might want a look. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?sto...99332&sfnsn=mo

Boxart is pretty nice too!

That might just be me, but holy cow they look bad ._.

Oh yeah, they got announced a little back. They're a fair bit more stylised (not obvious in the photo but is on close-up) and Flame Toys is pretty expensive... and it's almost certainly going to be all MMPR regardless, so I wasn't too bothered about it.
|
I built the Transformers kits from Flame Toys a while back, and I didn't find them to be either as enjoyable to build or as sturdy as the Figure-Rise kits. Pieces pop off too easily, limbs get too floppy... they're really kits that need a lot of glue.

Unfortunately, very few model kits are as good as Bandai kits. They have a very secretive manufacturing process.
|
I’m really hoping Bandai makes an Ultimate Kuuga. They really got their mileage out of the base Kuuga mould and we now have every form except for Growing and Ultimate. Growing is easy as it only needs one new part, but Ultimate will have to be an entirely new mould. I really hope they don’t skip it because of that.
|
Seeing as we just got FangJoker and Skull is also about to release, I wonder how long is left until they finish the W assortment. The only ones left really would be Accel, Accel Trial, CycloneJokerExtreme and Eternal (maybe with alternate red flare parts), though if they really want to milk it they could do CycloneJokerGoldExtreme, Accel Booster and CycloneCyclone & JokerJoker. Accel and Eternal feel like just a matter of time, CycloneJokerExtreme is likely if they get into final forms, though Accel Booster feels unlikely.
I also wouldn't be surprised if we get a FangTrigger and FangMetal when they debut in the anime (if it gets renewed). |
I would love Accel and Trial, but considering he'd need an all-new mould for both forms I think we'll be lucky if we even get Accel's base form. I still love my MG Accel.
FangJoker and Skull only happened because they were easy retools. Eternal is likely but I also hate that friggin' suit so I don't really care if it gets made. :lol |

Skull definitely is an easy retool though, and Eternal (suit preferences aside) would also fit that category. Personally I think the likelihood of Accel Trial mainly depends on how long the line lasts and how deep into the barrel they go. Accel's base does seem fairly likely as far as secondaries go, seeing as W (the show) is up there in terms of popularity and he'll be appearing in Fuuto PI. EDIT: Also slightly off-topic but it's somewhat frustrating that four FRSs are just over the limit for paying import tax in the UK with Delivery. |
I think we'll see Accel if we see any secondary; but likely just once the others are done. I do think we'll see Eternal as well at some point, and personally he's one of the preban retools I'm wanting the most.
Also want to chime in that FRS JokerJoker already exists! Using the Joker kit and parts from Cyclone/Joker you can replicate the few differences the form has, and it was advertised as such https://bbts1.azureedge.net/images/p...79379d34b8.jpg |

Until we get a secondary that's largely if not entirely newly moulded, I have my doubts. Bandai seems reluctant to do anything that's not traceable back to a main rider.
In other news, I decided to see how the Rising parts for Pegasus looked, and holy shit, these are cheap. The blade/extension of the bowgun just flops around. It's not moulded to properly fit on the gun and just droops. I also didn't realize that an accurate Rising Pegasus isn't swapped/optional, as you have to paint/apply a sticker for the bottom trim of the torso armour. Luckily I don't really like Rising Pegasus because I find the one shot, one kill skill factor of Pegasus the draw and the fact that Godai can just machine gun enemies a little less impressive, but I at least wanted the option. Man, this is really making me waffle on getting Dragon and Titan. |
That at least isn't the case for Titan -- the Rising versions of Dragon and Pegasus both have that one gold strip along the torso that means swapping between them isn't *precisely* possible for FRS, but Rising Titan doesn't have anything like that and so can swap between itself and Titan freely. I don't know anything about the Rising attachment for the swords though, I hadn't heard anything like flopping around before now

(The torso sticker is incredibly frustrating, though.) Dragon definitely won't have an issue as the rising blades tab on to the end of a shorter version of the staff rather than over the base form of the weapon (but, again, there's no excusing the torso sticker). My Titan kit sadly hasn't shipped yet so I can't attest that. |

3 Attachment(s)
Sure thing - snapped a few quickly but let me know if you want other angles.
Attachment 62170 Attachment 62171 Attachment 62172 The fit is not absolutely flush (I assume to make it possible to separate them) but snug enough that it stays where it should be. |
Ah, I think I figured it out. If you use the stickers it doesn't really wobble, but I used paint and it droops just by gravity alone. I put a tiny piece of masking tape inside each half and it seems stable now.
Thanks for the pics! |
Ah, that makes sense. I'm not one for painting, as you can tell.
Happy to help! |
Oh damn, despite large details being stickers that looks really nice... the gold pieces really help
|
The gold on the Kuuga kits is gorgeous, but also makes the stickers worse IMO. Colour matching the gold is impossible, and I would have rather had entirely in gold and have to sticker/paint over that than have mismatched golds.
|
At the very least that's only a factor for the alternate form kits, as the Amazing/Rising/Mighty kits don't feature any gold stickers
|

Again, I don't even really have a problem with the lack of separation, (even though it's totally possible but whatever) but it's the choice of what gets stickered that blows. |
I am contemplating buying seconds of Mighty, Pegasus, Dragon, and Titan just so I can display them in Normal and Rising forms...
|

If the kits weren't so expensive I'd probably have done that myself, but they're about $50-70 in Canadian fun bucks. |
I think I might eventually go all-in on Dragon/Pegasus/Titan but I'm really not sure about double-dipping for the Rising versions. I guess it'd depend on if they do Ultimate or not

To get all 4 again, not including shipping, would run me about $180 USD |
