Why? I think it works the way he wanted it to work. It looks realistic and not some fancy photoshopped gunk.

No offense to anyone that uses photoshop and stuff, but sometimes I just like seeing natural images. It is why I think digital art will never be superior to hand drawn out.

Sorry I don't have the space or money to get proper camera and lighting stuff. It's called working with what you have...

Just a side note, Gaim's "Ready" stance usually has him resting the Daidaimaru over his right shoulder.

Drive's not in either of his two optional "ready" stances, either. Maybe he just thought it would frame better for Gaim to be standing up straight.
