Decided to copy Sentai and give Dairanger a quick watch.
I don't understand, what was confusing? Sure, Qi and the Gorma weren't explained, but it's not like it didn't make sense. However, watching this does give me the need to watch some more Geki. Anyway, there wasn't much to comment on, but I must say, this does make me wish we got the Dai suits. They're not spectacular, but jesus, those shots of RyuuseiOh are freaking gorgeous. Saban's choice to stick with the Zyu suits meant we never got them, and that's just everyone's loss. Basically: Not much to say. Didn't leave a bad taste, wasn't particularly impressed, was paced poorly, things happened, RyuuseiOh looks awesome. |

And yes, Saban were complete fools IMO for not bringing Dairanger over suit wise. |
Oh, and I can pretty much confirm that the foot soldiers wouldn't look as completely stupid if they didn't have the red lips.
Should've just been featureless masks. |

First off, the Caltropes are awesome. I love their faces. Anyway, I have no problem with the clothing the Gorma Tribe wear. They look unique, especially Shadam. Hell, if I had the money, I would so have someone make me a Shadam costume for me to cosplay in at conventions. Yes, Zedd turned a trophy into Baron String. It was the episode when Zedd captured and created candles for the other 4 rangers. In fact, it was the first episode of Season 2 that actually used DaiRanger monsters. Anyway, it is the first episode. How many shows actually make sense in the first episode? Unlike other series, DaiRanger spends the first 10 episodes building up the cast, making them learning that they have to fight as a team, making them earn the right to pilot mecha and combine them. Kaku gets way more awesome as the series goes on and gets just as much development as the other characters. Oh, and no Sentai series is in the same universe as the other outside of non-canonical movies. Gokaiger only did it because it was an anniversary year, but that is it. Only the Showa Kamen Rider series and newest line of series are/were in the same universe. |
Dairanger has a bit of a slow yet simultaneously rushed start. It didn't really start clicking for me until the first Kujaku episode. But once it did it was a great ride, still one of my favorite Sentai series.

<people starting to watch Dairanger>
*sigh* It's like watching a train crash in slow motion. :( |

Man, Geki Shark Tohja...
How can something look so incredibly stupid but at the same time be really badass? The fight with the crab monster was fantastic, but I have such a hard time looking at this formation and trying to get past the dumb giant head. It's like the Stronger of Sentai mecha. The Sharkie Chan arc were two really awesome episodes, though. And it looks like the next one brings in the last three Kensei. Not going to lie, I kinda wish their costumes weren't so silly. |

I just finished watching Hurricanger for the first time. I actually was able to get through it faster then I did the first time around (took me two weeks the first time, took me four days this time).
I have to admit, re watching it did make me think of a few things. I get why they have to switch to the leather pants when they're doing a serious mission. But if that's the case, and doing what they do, why don't they wear them 24/7? It may make it easier if you ask me. Plus, I'm shocked they never tried to do a Kakuranger crossover. I think it would've been interesting, and there's a few ideas you could do with it. Like having Her Majesty angry at the fact that the Kakurangers don't belong, or work with another school. So she sends out everybody to try and take their powers and morphers. But a Kakuranger villain comes back and fights with Jakanga. Majesty realizes that maybe it isn't bad to have rouge or freelance ninjas, and she calls off the collection order, and thus, the two teams fight with each other. But eh, that's just me. Also, I kind of wish that the last three Karakuri machines Sargain made for Wendenu, Furabijou (who I now consider one of my favorite Sentai babes. Seriously, Azusa Yammamoto is hot), and Satarakura would actually combine. Sargain was always encorporating parts of Senpujin, so why not throw in the ability to unite? Oh, and I am determined to find the Gouraijer theme on Youtube to add to my Japanese music playlist. That song is to tight. So all and all, I enjoyed it just as much, and a smudge more then my first time viewing it. Obviously this time, I knew what to expect, and was able to think of some cons for me, but I still get a kick of the series. 4/10 |

Ahh, how I missed that I don't know. Thank you Shocker ^^

Haha.
Well, time to start the other Ninja themed Sentai since I found me some subs. |
Well episode 1of Kakuranger is done. And all I can say is, what the hell is up with those Yokais? A flasher, a pedophile (what's with that announcer guy too?). Although, it is pretty comedic, and considering I have a pretty dark sense of humor, I'll slowly get into it.
Also, Sasuke and Saizou are idiots, but loveable idiots. And holy crap, I never though I'd see a mecha talk. Those foot soldiers kind of remind me of Ghostface. And shave every day? |
That dance sequence was pretty cool too.

Kakuranger is silly, but I'm having fun with it. It's the kind of silly that's not taking itself too seriously, not just being outright stupid (Though there are dumb episodes). The announcer I've been led believe disappears sometime into it, but as of the first 13 episodes, that's not the case. And if you think Sasuke and Saizou are idiots, just wait until you meet Seikai :lol |

Why did that one have to be brought over for Power Rangers? :lol |

The narrator to KakuRanger leaves the show around episode 24 when the series' first act comes to an end.
Anyway, I watched episodes 17-21 of Jetman, which were quite good. I loved the development they gave Ridguet in 17 and 18, but I wished they had done more with him being turned into a human. It seemed rather underwhelming to have him become a human, help a girl, and then turn back all within 18 minutes. However, the best part was the lack of any mech battles between 17-19. If there is one thing I love about the older series, it is that if a mech battle was not needed, there was not one. These days, mech battles are forced into every friggin episode. I do remember the 19th episode though, with the Fortune Teller Dimension, which I did enjoy way back then raw, but it was even better now seeing it subbed. Even the yearly, "I'm not really evil" MOTW episode with Poohtan was actually pretty good for being a reused plot point (and usually, those are some of the worst episodes in a series). Overall, another batch of really enjoyable episodes. Quote:

Seikai is a riot, and these villains creep me out.
|
lol I love the designs of the Yokai, especially Gashu Skull.
Jaraiya is my favorite of the rangers, however. His moments of speaking English are hysterical, especially when they tell him he needs to speak Japanese. Plus, one of his story arcs halfway through the series is excellent. |
The foot soldiers are pretty cool looking, but just the way some of the Yokai act are, very creepy to me. Design wise they look great (except Kappa's wife, she's not to good looking), but in the character department, they should be on Law and Order SVU (keep in mind, I've only seen three episodes so far).

Anyway, what episode of DaiRanger are you at? If you are past 12 (drunken Tofu and Father Magnet episodes), then it probably isn't for you. |

Lots of sites do that. I don't know why. Anyway, I'm on episode 5 right now, still making my way through. |

Currently watching Liveman, throwing some Bioman, Maskman, and other stuff in along the way.

So I just watched episodes 22-26 of Jetman. Very good episodes and it is nice to see the MotW have suddenly become a lot more threatening looking. Nevertheless, the episodes beforehand with the other dimension people was pretty awesome and I find it funny that the actor for Dan in ZyuRanger also plays a character named Dan in this. Then again, it could say Toei got lazy on naming his character in Zyu. I must say though, I am quite surprised and how much story they put in episode 22 because they did not even transform until the very end of the episode and then they had to flee from the battle. That was completely unexpected and something that was nice to see.
