Just finished Ultraman Ace. For the most part it was ok, Actually given the backlash that was apparently against her I'm surprised they gave Yoko that nice of a send off. Granted the kid the brought in right after could get annoying( actually the episodes that featured him were the ones I had the hardest time sitting through) But one thing did kind of irk me more than anything in the show, and granted this is more of a personal nitpick than anything, was the willingness of the other members of TAC to just dismiss the notion that any problem they were seeing was caused by a Terrible monster, especially if the idea came from Hokuto (Pretty sure I spelled his name wrong), for most of the series. Like I said it's more of a nitpick considering when the show aired it was more than likely the norm. But outside of that I'd say on the whole that it was fairly average.

Random gripe: Man most the new generation hero stuff pre-geed is a pain to find for a reasonable price.

Ultraseven X scares me. I want him out of my house

There’s many, many things to like about the Geed movie. But one thing in particular that stands out is that its basic theory for the first third is “you can put Juggler into any group dynamic and it instantly becomes more fun”, and they just prove that theory right every two seconds

Ah yes, that one parellel universe Ultraseven where he was roided up and the whole show was Blade Runner sans replicants. :lolol
I remember liking certain bits here and there. They also seemed to try to re-create the Ultra Q vibe only more faux cyberpunk so more sci-fi mystery. And minus the forced muscle definition(them abs), the proportions aren't that bad I think.

What a really neat design for someone they never did anything with outside of really brief cameos. Even Justice at least got role in a movie. Even Seven 21 at least got his own theme song!

He was very much meant to be the Zoffy of Max. Only Tsubaraya never did much else with a Max so there was no special council for Xenon to keep appearing with.

I know almost nothing about Max and even I don't like that!

Zoffy gets a lot of love and he technically did almost nothing in his first appearance!

Max's 20th Anniversary is a couple of years away, so hopefully someone will wise up and say something to the effect of "Know that Xenon guy? We should give him something really significant to do!"

A surprisingly not comedic, not to mention slightly more accurate than I was expecting, look at Ultraman by nerdist.

I've grown very cautious about Youtube videos over the years, and that makes watching Z a little uncomfortable at times. However, this was actually not terrible and remarkably informative. It's basically 6 or so minutes of someone telling you just enough about the Ultra Series and the various release mediums, and would be more than sufficient to use when trying desperately to explain it all to a newcomer.

Given the recent Bullton episode for Z, it's clear that this was very recently uploaded.

Indeed, Ultraman Xenon is a really nice design and I remember when(myself included) was thinking that he was gonna be the next Ultraman for 2006. Of course we ended up getting Mebius and it was great, but yeah, the design is too good to leave as a small role character. On a side note, ever since Z was a thing I have finally decided to consider Ultraseven as my pick for GOAT Ultraman from the Showa era alongside Ultraman 80.

Well Ultraseven is basically the Batman of Ultraman when you think about it. And Ultraman is obviously Superman.

Hal Jordan and John Stewart perhaps? I mean the Superman and Batman comparison works too, but if we consider how they function Green Lantern Corps seems right up their alley.

Sofubis are the cornerstone of Ultraman merch. So what if they released a dedicated sofubi lineup of human characters? Who would you like to have? R/B fans are obviously this dude.

Human people are hard in sofubi because the lack of paint apps. They really get by on low cost manufacturing and "Efficient" paint apps. I've seen some human ones and they... do not look good.

True, but what if it was still a thing though? And not to downplay sofubis or anything but that sense of limitation is kind of its charm I think. Plus, imagine a Tamashii exclusive two-pack set with Aizen and Orb or Bako from Z with that tuna. :lolol

Oh yes, I absolutely love the clever workarounds that sofubi and other vinyl toys have to employ to capture the characters.

I've actually worked with a vinyl toy group before and they compete with each other to use the least possible resources, paint apps, mold points, etc.

Had a watch of the Ultraman: Towards the Future (aka Great) episode recently uploaded on youtube.

It was, ah. An interesting attempt at telling a story and having convincing acting! Can’t fault em for trying. Standout moment for me was Great looking around all confused after beating the kaiju like he’d lost his mum at the shops.

Okay so there are 2 ultra galaxy fights but before that there was 2 mega monster battle tv series one of which is non-canon, but there's also the mega monster battle movie that debuted Zero and Belial.
Basically what I'm trying to figure out here is, how much ultraman stuff exists that's just ultras talking and like fighting?

No I mean like just the ultras going around space fighting monsters since they didn't want to budget for human actors. Things like the ultra galaxy fights.

Just got the Ginga/Ginga S collection, but it had nothing but discs; no booklet and no redemption code!

It'll take me a while to find, but Ging/Ginga S ended up being a production mishap. The others from what I've seen are fine.

Hi, Ultraman newbie here: Has anyone made an Ultra family tree keeping track on Ultras families and master-student relationships?

No but I cobbled something together real quick. To the best of my knowledge of course, and you could get a lot more technical about the whole "Apprentice"-thing since many Ultraman trained another one at some point, but this is the basic gist of it.

I didn't forget about Astra by the way, the tool I was using is just a bit clunky, pretend he's there as Leo's brother. And that both of them trained Zero because that didn’t work out either

Also, I found this which seems to be an official source, It shows artwork of Mother of Ultra' sisters, Ultraseven's dad as well as his own sister which all never appeared in any show.

The game is based off Ultraman Torwards the Future/Great the australian Ultraman show. From what I've heard the game is pretty hard with sluggish controls. Overall it just your usual bad early 90's game

In terms of successors Seven definitely is on point. He got Leo and Astra, his kid Zero and Zero's buddies, to an extent Geed, and recently his kid's lackey Z. Another ultra who is continuing his legacy I guess would be Taro with his kid Taiga and the two Tri-squad members as well as Mebius and to a certain extent Ginga cause didnt he play the role of mentor when he became a spark doll pretty much?

Mebius and Ginga definitely fit on there, yes.

To be honest the tree could be refined in a lot of ways but I don't really have a handy tool to do that. If I had one I would gladly spend half a day on completing it as much as possible.

According to the Wiki, Zoffy is supposedly the grandchild of Ultraman King.

I believe that might be a mistranslation / mistake, I think this is based on Zoffy calling King "Ojisan". That's literally "Grandpa", however, it’s also a general nickname for an older man you're familiar with. I think fansubs generally translate it as "old man" or something like that.
