Additionally, I think it would have been better to pull a KR Skull with the hat, and not have the hat actually be a part of the helmet, just something they wear on top of the helmet. It'd be more distinctive, having it's natural color, and bear less semblance to a crown/tiara.

On technicality, you could call her an extremely dark shade of any color because eventually they'd all hit black :lol

Concerning the hat, the Gokaigers all shared it. Here, it's a unique trait to her.
And of all the ponies who would get a unique trait, it should be Twilight.

As for the elements, you have to remember that the ponies they were attached to were still their same color. Rarity was still white and AJ was still tan/orange. Here, it's not as clear because the white pony is now black and the "Leader" character in red isn't the main character of the show, but AJ, the normally orange pony.

Acording to TV tropes Twilight is more of a 6th ranger. That name aplies to more than just Rangers.

Yeah, of all the other ponies aside from Twilight, I imagine that Applejack would be the one to take command. She has the right attitude to rally the others behind her and to get them to cooperate. That and she's the most stable of the other five... well at least I think so.

That doesn't change the fact that Twilight is the protagonist we follow.

Except AJ clearly never got along with Rarity prior to Twilight and has a short temper with Fluttershy (This one could be accounted to her lack of sleep, though).
Not to mention she's stubborn and doesn't know when to cut her losses or ask for help.

Agreed. There's usually an episode early in the series that involves a couple members being agro at each other until circumstance forces them to get along.

Ok...so I was watching the Equestria Girls trailer again, and I think I've figured out what bothers me about the aesthetic...all of the girls are wearing pretty much the same exact outfit: shirt, mini skirt, and knee high platform boots. I...why is everyone wearing the same outfit?

Oh, I did. I hated it start to whenever the hell I turned it off. It fucking sucked! I was absolutely hated it for taking one of the best animated kid's shows of all time and turning it into... that, pile of shit. Seriously, and people say that Equestria Girls is ruined forever material. I'm actually looking forward to that one, because it's the same great writers behind a great show.

(In all honesty, after getting over my initial buttmad over EG, I think it has potential, I just don't have much interest because, outside of the beginning and the climax, it seems to be a generic high school story that happens to feature the voices of all my favorite ponies)
