Awesome, I did get the sense they were dividing riders and monsters separately between retail and PB.
With respect to the monsters, I think Evildiver maybe be small enough to do a 3 pack with Metalgelas and Venosnaker. Most frustrating thing would be to pack Evildiver with Destwilder or something haha Would they do multiple gazelle monsters or just one? The survive bikes seem too large to make them in a two pack unless theyre highly priced |

The contract monster sets are pretty expensive, though -- Dragredder/Darkwing is 6000 Yen, while Volcancer/Magnagiga is 8000 |

SO-DO Chronicle Ryuki
Don't see Abyss logo anywhere That kinda hurt. |
I'm of two minds when it comes to the small upgrades for these figures. I love the PVC hands and its a perfect fit for Ryuki riders, but man these figures get better and better and make the previous figures look like sofubi!
After handling Saber and Gaim, I built a Zero-One figure and it felt so so old. By the time we finish all the SO-DO Chronicle line, the last figure will be a literal mini SHF. Well hopefully they go back and so some of the others that weren't in Chronicle like Decade and Ex-Aid. Now if we could get SO-DO in regular distribution in the west (and for that $5 price too!) it would be the best toy line hands down. |

Just realized something. Do you think there's a connection between this and the upcoming Ryuki subbed releases? I feel like there's a change this stuff might have Bluefin releases as well.

If anything, I'd hope that it'll finally mean Ryuki Seihou figures, but that's a comment for a different thread. |
The twitter posts from Bandai gave me the impression that it was indeed related to the upcoming sub release. This SO-DO is also falling into the same year we are getting the Figure-Rise Standard kit as well. So it wouldn't be crazy to think some of these things are related.

Just watching the trailer I’m realising they straight up said “13 Kamen Riders. 13 Contract Monsters.” despite the blog specifying the TV show riders, so... interesting!
I imagine the three special riders would be PB with Ryuki Blank, then a second PB wave with Alternatives, Abyss and Ouja Blank. That rounds out perfectly! |
I loaded up the blodg twenty minutes ago expecting, like, Gaim Apple Riders or Kuuga Rising Ultimate. And what I got... I'm as happy as all you are. All 13 Riders, all Contract Monsters (even if it's PB)? Amazing. Scissors the meme man himself in Wave 1? Outstanding.
|
Alright, this Ryuki stuff might've finally convinced me of how dang cool this SO-DO stuff has become. That all looks incredible.
Just wish I liked the scale more... |
Just had a thought -- for Riders that are likely going to be relegated to PB waves like the movie guys and the alternatives, do you think they'd just bundle those with their contract monsters since they're going to be PB anyway rather than split between retail and PB like the first wave? So a Ryuga/Dragblacker set, a Femme/Blancwing set, etc

I can definitely see the benefit in them doing it that way. A Ryuga/Dragblacker and a Femme/Blancwing set is probably more... reliably profitable (?) than a Ryuga/Femme set and a Dragblacker/Blancwing set. Like, two equally-priced sets seems easier to design for than one 4000 yen set and one 6500 yen set. But it seems like it'd run counter to the previous marketing, where the Riders are one channel and the Contract Monsters are another channel, and folks can mostly decide for themselves how much Ryuki they want. There's got to be a not-small part of the international fandom that is okay with just getting Riders, and would maybe resent having to pay for 3 of 13 Contract Monsters just to get all of the Riders. Feels like there'd be some fan discontent there. |
I'm calling it now, Volcancer and Scissors SO-DO Of The Year. :lolol

But there's always a second place. My moneys on Imperer. |
I'm just wondering if we'll get the Survive Bikes, since they're *technically* Contract Monsters, and neither G or D-San could live with themselves if the toys can't replicate everything seen on screen.

You make a convincing point! But then what about the Rideshooter? Or even Alternative and his bug-bike. Of course, that depends on if they do Alternative at all, which they probably will, even with their claims of 13 Riders. Might even see Abyss once they remember he was in Rider Time Ryuki.
|
I definitely think the Rideshooter is something we won't see. Like, Kuuga and W's bikes? Those are really big and significant and there's a lot of people that would want those! Ryuki's, though? Ehh... definitely the last thing they'll do if anything, I think.
|
I would absolutely love a Rideshooter. As a Tron fan, the silly bike with a canopy was always a favorite of mine.
But yeah I'd be surprised if we got it. We are already getting much more than I expected for the Ryuki line and I have a hard time imaging how they'd do a Rideshooter in SO-DO format. I have the original 4 inch scale Rideshooter from the US Dragon Knight toy line. It doesn't fit a SO-DO but it looks okay standing next to one. I think the R&M version might fit a little on the large side. |
While I very much hope we get the Survive bikes, I'd have no issue with not getting the Rideshooter. As far as I remember, they only used it when traveling through a mirror, there were never any cool bike action scenes with it
|
Something I got ages ago and only just built - Den-O Wing Form! Those shoulder stickers are impossible, but he comes together really nicely!

So, what are you guys' hopes/expectations for the next Ex-Aid and Build stuff in Shodo?
For me, here's what I (somewhat) reasonably hope they release: Ex-Aid: Ex-Aid lvl99 Ex-Aid lvl100 Brave lvl 2 Brave lvl 50 Brave lvl 100 Snipe Snipe lvl 50 Lazer lvl 2 Lazer lvl 0 Para-Dx lvl 99 Poppy (possibly red and blue eye variants looking at O-5 Genm) Cronus (Possibly Taiga variant due to O-5 Genm) Ride Player (Possibly Nico variant) Build: Build RabbitRabbit Build TankTank Build Genius Cross-Z Charge Cross-Z Magma Greese Blizzard Rogue Evol (possibly Rabbit and Dragon forms) Evol Black Hole Mad Rogue |
I think it's reasonable to assume a lot of the upgrades bar the final will be left out; and even the final forms would likely be Premium Bandai. SHODO also doesn't seem to give multiple waves over to a specific series (with the exception of '71 early on), only doing so in Outsider; so I think we'll get very little.
Of which I would assume Rogue, Evol, Genius, Magma, Brave, Snipe, Lazer Turbo, Para-DX, Poppy, Cronus and Muteki. |

Maybe maybe also Dan Kuroto in civilian form??
Found my image with the Rideshooter and a SO-DO https://i.imgur.com/aRvDrVE.jpg |
Would be funny if they gave us a mirror complete with holographic foil of Kanzaki in the reflection. :lolol

Looks like ryuki volume 1 is gonna drop in august. |

If someone is planning to pick up the full 10 pack box, I'd like to get a hold of Ryuki if he's one of the doubles.

He'd be the only double, mind -- each Rider uses 2 boxes each for a total of 8. I imagine he will be the double

Looks like it might only be 8 figures this time around. Also Holy Crap! We're getting the ryuki line bluefinned for relatively cheap! Edit: Wait it's a random assortment? That's weird. Edit 2: Looks like it's a 10 pack but BBTS is spliting them into random 8 packs? |
That would be a good price, yeah, but... random assortment is uh. Yeah what's up with that, excuse me?
