You know I've thought on it, but Gotchard is such a refreshing change of pace when it comes to the monsters.
We're 32 Episodes + 1 Movie deep into the series, and we've got 27 (28 next week) different Malgam alongside a handful of variations of them. Been a while since i feel we've gotten that many alongside this much focus on Rider vs. Kaijin. Especially since while you can point to Zi-O, I feel like that's a bit of a special case given the setup they did. |

On the other hand, I absolutely adore Kiva and really enjoyed Jetman as well. The miscommunications in those shows were frustrating, but they made sense given the nature of the characters. So maybe I'll like it after all? Either way, I've been realizing that I'm mostly familiar with more modern styles of Rider (I've seen Kiva, Drive, Ghost, Ex-Aid, Amazons, and am working through Geats), so I'm interested in checking out some early Heisei. The stronger story focus sounds appealing, and I just really like that era of media. |
Honestly, Kuuga all the way to Blade are very J-Drama esque. Can't go wrong choosing any of them, really.
|
But if you are annoyed by misunderstandings and hasty conclusions between characters, then the beginning of Blade will be very painful. I mean, sometimes it went so far that it almost felt like an intentional parody.

I think Kuuga is probably the best on that front overall. The cast is very well rounded and there are several good female characters. Also it DOES have Joe Odagiri, every Japanese housewife's crush! Plus his character kinda has some gay vibes going on with his cop buddy. (I'm just going to assume most women enjoy some BL vibes... actually it might just be safe to assume most tokusatsu fans do. I will make ALL the assumptions in my post!) I think there is merit to some of the other shows on the appealing for women front too though. Agito has Ozawa, who is an interesting, nuanced female character. I personally find the show too much like a worse Kuuga, but it has merit! Ryuki is... interesting but a mess. You will hit glorious highs, you will hit baffling lows. I definitely think of this one as a bit more of a "guy" show for what it's worth. I really like Faiz, and I say this as a person who tends to be annoyed by Inoue more often than not. I remembering commenting once that one of the reasons I like this more than most Inoue shows is how it felt like Inoue's barbs were aimed at everyone, while some of his other stuff can feel a bit too WOMEN, AMIRITE? to me. Of course, there is a good possibility this show's miscommunications and cynicism will cross a line for you if you prefer thing like Kiva and Jetman. I'd say it is worth a try, but you will love or hate it. I haven't seen Blade in a long time, but it's quirky. The meme-y early parts of the show eventually give way to some great drama. Again, this one has some strong BL appeal (maybe the strongest in the entire series), though not everyone sees it that way. I've never really known what to make of this one, but I think it's a show anyone can enjoy. |

Kidding, obviously. But I do appreciate the overview. Just trying to think of which of these my gf might like the most. Considering how she kept hoping the two reds in LuPat would kiss, I think you may be onto something with the BL... |
If you're looking strictly for BL stuff, look no further than Yuji and Takumi in Faiz. I am absolutely convinced that those two would've made out if the show hadn't aired in 2003.

When Gotchard is over, I really want a V-Cinema that's just Clotho and Lachesis doing an adventure by themselves. I don't care if they don't even have Rider forms (although knowing Gotchard they almost certainly will). I just want 75 minutes of punching and snark.
|
I mean based on everything going on in Gotchard so far with the two. I'd totally be down for Gotchard Gotcha Adventures: Kamen Rider Dread & Kamen Senshi Valvarad.
|
I don't really associate Dread with Clotho or anyone else. It gets bounced around so much that I don't think of it as having a definitive user. Kinda like Delta.

How would you all picture an Ex-Aid anime adaptation since Futo PI? Ex-Aid has these anime vibes, and its got potential.
Have it take place after Another Ending. Genm & Cronus are now in the Reiwa era. With Tsukuru taking over Genm Corp & Machina Vision gone, it would be nice to present a new gaming company to try and take down Genm Corp & its riders. Plus introduce a new troupe of riders & Bugsters with new games & genres! Veterans:

Dude! Focus!!!! |
Anyway, I picture the new enemy faction the Ex-Aid riders be facing will involve mobile games we have on our smartphones, even games on PC like with League of Legends.
And there’ll be new riders & Bugsters whether some are friend or foe. A new intern is under Emu & Parado’s tutelage as he/she learns of being a doctor and learns about them and others being riders. I see a new rider using a stealth game like Metal Gear. New riders can use Gekitotsu Robots, Jet Combat & Shakariki Sports. |
I was reminiscing about Ex-Aid recently and reminded that I'm still not really a big fan of Kiriya getting killed off so early. I felt like all his death really ended up doing was resetting the status quo of the riders being at odds with each other, and that there was more story potential and momentum that could have been gained had he stuck around and work together with Emu.

If that was the case, I still think they could have done something else, cause I felt there was more lost from Kiriya dying than was gained

With the introduction of a porn game ad spam Bugster, we need to introduce a villain that advocates for the censorship of all lewd and harmful things but take it too far; a well-meaning extremist if you will. Four-way faction fight: the Riders, the Bugsters who just want to play games, the super lewd final boss and the pro-censorship villain. And the secret fifth faction: the microtransaction gacha brigade who are composed of P2W players. New power-up: Pirate Bay Gashat. A berserker item that drives its user insane because it uses pirated and corrupted games as the source of its powers. Add in a few internet neckbeard trolls, some game developers in danger of karoshi and lots of merchandising, I think we have the start of something beautiful. |
Was rewatching Kamen Rider Build today. So, you know how Cross-Z's Dragon Fullbottle is made from the essence of his girlfriend's Smash remains? Doesn't that basically mean he's wearing his dead girlfriend as armor?

This hurts. This really hurts. I thought the Faiz suit in Paradise Regained was kind of a mess, but this is a fucking tragedy. |
I now have two demands for what Toei needs to do for Gotchard's V-Cinemas and/or web miniseries:
1. Clotho and Lachesis Sarcastically Punch Things for 75 Minutes 2. Sidekicks Remix. Deneb is trying to put together a surprise party for Yuuto and for help he turns to Kivat, Ankh (in arm form), Yuri (in sword form), Lovekov, and Hopper1. Along the way they battle Kekera, who is once again appearing as the frog statue. |

Since Ultraman Belial Atrocious, how would you all picture "Demonic Fusion Rides" with these final villain/movie villain riders of Reiwa?

There's another, much sillier version of Gotchard out there where Hopper1 stays a card most of the time and a full-size steam engine follows Hotaro everywhere.

How would you all create a Reiwa rider season where the riders come from each kingdom/queendom like King-Ohger?
|
What if Koshiro Igarashi turns out to be the potential successor of Demons after Hiromi?
And what would be a suiting name for Koshiro's inner demon? Would it be interesting in a Reiwa anniversary season, we see his future self arrive in our time to save his family & help its rider? |
Speaking of which, what I would like to see in the show is the concept of "riders are not allowed to beat each other up." In Geats this was announced, but quickly canceled, and was performed this way even less often. And I’m talking about a more strict implementation of this idea, up to the inability to strike or failure of the armor. Of course, with a large number of riders in the show, confrontation between them is inevitable, but fights are not necessary for him. 90% of fights with a non-villain/non-constant villain come down to canceling the transformation anyway. Enemy riders can engage in verbal conflicts, fight without armor, or perform mischief in Kusaka style. And closer to the end, the main villain and/or dark rider will have the opportunity to beat up other riders while remaining untouchable by them. And then the heroes will have to try very hard to figure out how to defeat him. Most likely, with the help of the power of friendship and a new toy.

I get so damn confused when I'm reading Gotchard threads and people start talking about "Supana."
