I can only assume it was because of maintenance reasons, some sort of malfunction, or it was damaged beyond repair during production.

I just had an epiphany.

In rewatching Bomber the Great's duel with Buldont in Ohranger, Bomber said he wouldn't take the life of a woman which is why he strapped Hysteria to a missile.

Problem is that Bomber has before jeopardized the lives of women with no regard to the supposed chivalry he claims to adhere to!

In his debut episode, he was supportive of the warhead exploding in the van. However, Momo and a little girl were in that van at the time! It's a pretty standard trope, but villains in Sentai have a tendency to know who is where in a given moment. Bomber had to know that Momo and the kid were about to be blown up as he was counting down!

Also, Bomber has no qualms with transforming into his own missile mode and attacking the entire team, including Pink and Yellow.

Also, his last plan involved turning people into solid gold. Permanent gold statue status is no different than a death sentence, and melting down golden people to build a tacky gold palace cinches it further.

How the hell is Bomber the Great a "chivalrous man" when he continuously violates his own supposed chivalry on a friggin whim!?

P.S.: Yes, I know Ohranger is notoriously inconsistent! Probably reading way too much into this. Bomber's "chivalry" was probably a plot convenience to further the story and explain how he's ultimately deposed.

Perhaps. At the least consider it as headcanon.

This is probably a very generic Toku question, but I do have a specific Sentai example in mind: how do spark squibs work? I know that older versions are usually pasted onto the actor/suit with a similarly colored patch to mask it, but there are apparent inconsistencies.

As for the example, in Kakuranger Ep. 5's preview for Ep. 6, Tsuruhime slashes Nurikabe with no obvious sparks. In the actual episode, Tsuruhime performs the same exact movements on Nurikabe but with actual sparks this time! There's no apparent difference in the shots or the placement of both Tsuruhime and Nurikabe.

If classic sparks are manually added before filming, why would there need to be a reshoot? Was the former a mistakenly-added outtake/test shot to get the movements properly choreographed before adding the actual squibs?

Maybe they just thought that was the good cut and used it? Keep in mind that show was likely shot on film and 90s video editing tech probably wasn't advanced as the stuff we have now and time management was probably even more important then if you consider film developing time and the likelihood of them literally cutting film when editing.

A big thing to remember is that they can damage the suits. So they'll often rehearse the scene multiple times before they actually use the sparks.
It's not completely unlikely they'd use a rehearsal take, either on accident or because it looked good.

A completely irrelevant, but very intriguing question suddenly occurred to me: do PR owners have the rights to adapt Akibarangers?
