So, have we discussed the fact that the first four episodes consist of two two-parters? The first of which, The Magician's Apprentice and The Witch's Familiar are written by Moffat and will have both Missy and Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. It looks like some filming for those episodes will be done in Spain and, as reported as returning earlier, will be directed by Blink's Hattie MacDonald.

Just finished listening to Dark Eyes 3 and made myself sad about Gomez returning. I mean she's good, but Alex MacQueen is hands down THE best Master since Delgado. He captures every aspect of him perfectly.

Missy and Kate already? I'm surprised by that. Although I like the titles of the episodes.

Might we be seeing a possible return to Karn? Hrm...

There's some speculation that Big Finish may have gotten the new Who license (besides the U.N.I.T. series which apparently started production today). There is some news coming out this weekend, apparently, at any rate.

Presumably yes. Although I guess any could be providing it doesn't contradict what goes on in Big Finish's stuff.

So how has peter capaldi's season of doctor who been, I haven't really had much access to live tv so I can't really watch it yet.

Personally I've found it pretty average on the whole. It's definitely Moffat's strongest season since his first (season 5), but the same story of great actors being let down by not so great stories.

The season has some brilliant episodes, it has some godawful ones and it has some average ones. Which are which will vary person to person, but I think overall it's an assessment most tend to agree on.

My favourite doctor has always been Sylvester McCoy, which one is yours ?

Pertwee is my all time favourite, but McCoy is a very close second. Then McGann in a very close third :lol

I really like the love for Mcgann here, he is a great guy and since everyone else has mentioned their other favourites

I think it's one of the best years of the modern series, overall. If you can get past the series 1-esque focus on Clara, it's a great season with only one episode I'd say was subpar (Forest of the Night - although I won't argue with anyone that had beef with the moon episode, even though it didn't bother me), and even then Capaldi is still a lot of fun to watch in it.

I think it dealt with it much better than Series 7... It actually made me like her. Except Listen. Listen doesn't count, and that ending especially doesn't count.

I'd been watching the show about 15 years or so before the new series started, so I was brought up on the classic ones. Getting into it during the hiatus period is one of the reasons I don't have a "my Doctor" attachment to any of them - I just bounced around story to story. The whole regeneration concept never really phased me even as a 5 year old :lol

Know who deserves to be a Companion from the Who-Universe? I know, you're expecting me to say Osgood, but actually I was thinking Gwen Cooper from Torchwood. She's been through enough hell I think she deserves the chance to go cruising the universe. And she wouldn't end up another love-lost puppy-eyed companion, and would kick much ass.

So.. Make that happen.

I was skeptical at first, considering when the news seemed to come out, but apparently in the new DWM, it's confirmed that the BBC has commissioned Doctor Who for the next five years. I imagine the speculated demise of Top Gear following that Clarkson business has BBCWW interested in securing its other major cash cow.

Top Gear is not being cancelled. The BBC renewed it through 2016, I believe.

I never said it was being cancelled. The removal of Jeremy Clarkson from the program, however, has a lot of people projecting its fall from grace. It makes sense for BBCWW to hedge its bets in the event the popularity of Top Gear does decline.

I believe that is what it means. It takes forever to get my hands on DWM here in the back end of nowhere, so I haven't seen the issue in question personally yet.

I should have got mine yesterday, but it hasn't come in. I feel like I'm going to need a new subscription...

I need to get an international subscription. Since the local Borders closed I have to grab it at one of the comic shops in town and they run about a month behind, if that close.
