I can understand that, really. I just feels like I read too many complaints focused about it not being Spectacular.
That's not to say that I haven't seen issues related to the series proper and that the series doesn't have plenty of flaws, though.

I'm grateful that the existence of Ultimate allowed us to have Lego Spider-man toys, and gave us Lego fans our first Doctor Doom.

I can see why people would like Spectacular Spiderman: they did a good job of writing banter, and a fantastic job of making spidey look agile.

Having gone through this situation with the transition from Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes into Avengers: Assemble, I can understand how a lot of Spectacular Spiderman fans felt when that happened to them.

But honestly? I think Spectacular is an overhyped series. It's good, but it's not THAT good, and I'm starting to get a little bit sick of everyone talking about how it's not around any more.

My main complaint with the fact that The Spectacular Spider-Man no longer airing new episodes (a complaint shared by many) is the fact that it never got a proper ending. The series was intended to run for 65 episodes, but we only got 26. Because of this, we were left with a bunch of plot threads that were ultimately unresolved, chiefly Norman Osborn being alive after all; the Symbiote still crawling around New York; Gwen and Harry still being together despite the fact that Gwen loves Peter; and Miles Warren being in charge of Doctor Connors' lab. Also given the legalities surrounding the series, it seems like we will never get any resolution for this series.

I think Spectacular deserves the hype, if you can get past the weird animation style. It's certainly a lot better than the 90s show, my how that has aged horribly.

The theme song still kicks ass, but yeah it's kinda hard to sit through even with nostalgia goggles on.

Yeah the theme is GREAT. But no punching, all lasers, "mercy bullets" and just the really low budget animation... it's not good.

I had completely forgotten about the all CG MTV Spider-Man but now you've reminded me of it, I remember actually liking that show.

Hey I loved that show it was my first spider man I watched and I to think it aged well I'm all ways loved how they portrayed those character and I loved man spider in it. Plus it my second fave spider cartoon first being spectacular

Pretty much all of those 90s Marvel cartoons have aged horribly.

People seem to forget about 60's Spider-Man.

There are some episodes of 90s spiderman I can go back and watch and still get enjoyment out of them though as long as I turn my brain off first.

Two episodes/archs come to mind: The team up with Iron Man and the Secret Wars arch.

Of the Spider-Man cartoons that I have watched (i.e. all of them except for the Dan Gilvezan shows), this is how I would rank them.

6. Spider-Man: The New Animated Series.
5. Classic Spider-Man. (Wallopin' websnappers!)
4. Ultimate Spider-Man.
3. Spider-Man Unlimited.
2. Spider-Man: The Animated Series.

I think it's a product of its time for sure, but I still love it. Easily my favourite Spider-Man cartoon there's been.

In fact, I am beginning to wonder why so many cartoons get canceled so quickly recently, not just on Cartoon Network but on other channels too?

I have two ideas.

1) The ratings aren't what they were back in the days, or that impressive at all. If a network has a show with low ratings, it tends to get cut even if it's liked by fans.

2) Networks don't see cartoons as anything special anymore unless it's a series that has been around for a number of years. They'd rather test the waters with small runs of a show then go with a full run of a season with a good number of episodes.

Sadly the creators knew from the start that action shows aren't as marketable any more, at least we'll see the reamining eps.

I'm just trying to think, what cartoon has really had a long life since the early/mid 2000s? Last time we got full 5 seasons of Justice League, for example.

I guess there are a few long running, recent cartoons: Star Wars The Clone Wars, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, TMNT and The Legend of Korra. Still, everything else gets canceled after the second season at most, if not first.

Or in the case of CW, thrown onto Toonami at 3 or 4 in the morning when the show's main demographic is asleep.

Space Dandy isn't a new one (or new ish?)

The '80s Spider-Man cartoon was pretty similar in animation to Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, and also featured Dan Gilvezan as Spider-Man. It's quite possible that you remember both of those shows as one.

Man, airing for 2 years is now grounds for being considered a long runner. That's crazy :lol

That's very possible, actually, since reading more about it, they aired in the same year.
