It's maybe not as cool as the Acrylic Stands from Bandai, but depending on your Figuarts collection, there are some SO-DO accessories that scale pretty well for display purposes! |

This may come off as weird, but am I the only one who wants a S.H. Figuarts Seiji Takaiwa and Yuya Nawata? Maybe even just heads, so I can stick 'em onto my Kamen Riders and look like they're the suit actors. |
Really been using this Quarantine downtime to hunt down missing Figuarts grails in my collection. Ordered an Evol off Ebay that just shipped today. Still slowly rationalizing and planning out other pick-ups like trying to find an Ohma Zi-O for a reasonable price.

Should be by Friday or the following Tuesday. Finding him second-hand from another state and for under $200 even with shipping is nigh-impossible so I consider it a lucky find.

The 001 reveal made me so thirsty for an Ichi-Gata SHF, so I think it's safe to assume it will never happen.
|
I'd never really seen a scale comparison between SHF Seihou and Power Rangers Legacy before so I decided to try it out and it's absolutely killing me

Those Legacy figures are trash unfortunately. Lightning Collection, while not perfect are MUCH better, but yeah neither scale with Figuarts well.
|
Look at those abs though. That suit was created by a Zordon who pumps his rangers full of testosterone.

And boy. I was not disappointed |
The Legacy line was fine for what it was; A modern revival of the old 90s figures. But yes, the Lightning Collection is like 99% better.
Interesting how each PR line has scaled though. SHF = 6 inch Legacy = 6 1/2 inch LC = 6 1/4 inch I think Hasbro had both 6 and 7-inch scale figures in mind when making the LC line, since basic posing gets them to fit with both(usually). |
It really feels like Legacy is closer to 7-inch, honestly. It feels much closer to that at least.
And yeah Legacy isn't... it isn't the worst figure I've ever had, but I think it's fair to say it was pretty out of touch with what its target audience wanted in very, very many ways and its budget could have easily made it so much better. LC is more or less the proof of that. |
Yeah Bandai definitely had some growing pains when it came to trying to mirror the success of Hasbro. For example, the Dragon Stars line had some serious growing pains early on, but thankfully they listed to the critiques people were giving the line, and now most figures are actually rather good. Makes me think the Legacy line would've also improved in a similar fashion had the Hasbro buyout not happened.

They are really not slowing down on these nameplates -- this time it's Kotaro Minami; Kamen Rider Black and Black RX!

Only a matter of time before they announce an OOO plate then.

I recently learned of "SHF Upgrade" and while they're not currently selling anything I particularly care about, they do have some cool stuff that I image would appeal to alot of other collectors. Like a replacement head for Zero-One with glow-in-the-dark eyes. I recommend checking them out.

That said, the custom capes for Woz, Gaim and Cronus look fantastic and are great prices! ... suspiciously good prices. Like, I thought wire capes were expensive? |

Damn, they even have replacement elbows for the SS Kabuto mold...
Gonna have to invest in those and the Cronus skirt. |
Did the SS Kabuto Riders have bad elbows??
Seems like I've just been lucky then not having issues with any of those or OOO.. |

Shinkocchou Seihou news.
IXA is coming! Tamashii Web Exclusive and preorders go up on the 25th. There's also a new blog post confirming that Plat Form is compatible with the armors from the Sword/Gun set. |
Oh neat, now Kurona can finally have a figure of her favorite character; Otoya!
:D |

...Well I am terrified for my Dark Kabuto now.
|
You'll be fine if your elbow joints don't feel super-tight.
|
...One of them can barely move because of how tight it is.

Got Evol in. Beautiful piece in-hand and the little things they added to the articulation to make him functional without worrying about damaging the sculpted parts are fantastic. If he came with the steamgun he'd be 100% perfect but considering everything else he has, I can't complain.

The acrylic stands coming out and Die showing off that SO-DO "GAME CLEAR" actually got me wondering: Are there any bonus accessories that you guys think pair well with specific Rider SHF figures? Whether they're sold separate, come from another line/figure, whatever?
Like, to give a really obvious/basic example, I've seen some cool pics of people using Doctor Strange accessories with Wizard. |
Stronger or Kabuto with any kind of electrical effect would seem like an obvious one. Blade too, actually.
Night Rogue and a smoke machine should definitely be somewhere on the list, too. |
Obviously I want to support Bandai and official releases but acrylic accessories are very easy to make if you have the tools.
https://i.imgur.com/epjc9OF.jpg These were made by printing onto a transparent plastic sheet, adhered to acrylic, and laser cut. It's as good as any commercially available printed acrylic accessory like those keychains you find in gashapon machines. Figure-rise Standard Kabuto and Fiaz came with excellent effect parts, but it seems like they are being phased out. They worked well with the SHF counterparts. |

From the webshop. |

Looking forward to seeing it, I was wondering if they skipped it because both Shining Assault Hopper and Thouser are already announced. |
