And I'm impressed by just how sour some people are over Dark Pit.

He's a crap character that doesn't deserve his own slot. In a game as hyped as Smash Bros, especially when there's been heaps of cuts, that's not very tolerable. The Koopalings and Alph offer far more diverse looking characters and their not treated as separate characters.

The fact that Sakurai emphasised how "unique" each character would be doesn't help the situation either.

Dr. Mario has the Melee Down B "Dr Tornado", but either then that he's pretty much the same. He has the same Final Smash as Mario too, just aesthetically a little different. (Giant pills instead of giant fire balls)

Dark Pit is the exact same as this game's Pit outside of Final Smash. He has the new move-set that they thought giving Pit was necessary, rather then Pit's pre-Sakurai Brawl move-set.

The rest are meh (Though it is pretty cool that the rumors that Bowser Jr's alts are the Koopalings was true).

That's why I (And most others, really) are so sour over Dark Pit and Dr. Mario. Early in development, Sakurai was constantly spouting junk about "Smaller roster, less clones, more diversity" which turned out to be utter bullshit, it seems.

The streamers now have unlocked everyone on the ESRB leak and nobody new has come about.

MAYBE there's more, but I highly doubt it. The leaker noted that he hadn't unlocked anyone.. But Mii Fighters were not on his roster, so everyone assumed they replaced "random" when you were in Free Matches. This is not the case, it seems the character that wasn't there for the ESRB leak was Mii Fighter for whatever reason.

EDIT: Actually none of the streamers have unlocked ROB yet.

I really want Snake to return, but I figured a 3rd party character who's as insanely popular as Snake would be an official reveal, so I doubt he's hidden somewhere in the game.

Concerning additional unlocks, Smash Bros always did have one or two characters that were unlocked by the most obtuse way possible (Like Mewtwo needing 20 hours played in Melee)

I almost forgot ROB existed, I never used him in Brawl. Was he rumored/confirmed to appear? If so I missed that somehow.

Yeah, Snake is definitely one of the cuts I'm most disappointed by. Not only is he a cool character, he had really unique gameplay completely unlike anyone else. Maybe if we're lucky he'll show up as DLC sometime down the line, although I'd prefer it if he were included in the core game.

I'm most sad about Ivysaur and Ice Climbers. After Birdo was cut from MK7 I'm feeling really disillusioned with Nintendo games cutting my favourites.

I think Ike is a crap character that doesn't deserve his own slot, but I'm sure there are people out there who like him. Maybe he should have just been a costume, but let's not pretend that clones are stopping other more unique characters from being included.

As for cuts, who? Roy, who was replaced with somebody who brings more diversity and relevancy? Wolf, who was the second clone of a character? Lucas, who's a virtual unknown outside of Japan?

For all the talk of "bias" people are pretty upset that the roster hasn't been 100% created to suit their individual tastes.
