Just thought I'd post this for anyone who might buy the toys. Bought a Power of the Daleks variant with mutant scoop yesterday (which is pretty rare as it's the first time I've seen it). Opened it up to find this on the side hidden by the card.
http://i.imgur.com/68Lnl8T.jpg So yeah, I'm a little bit annoyed to say the least. Don't have the receipt to return it, nor do I want to even if I could because my only other option is jacked up eBay prices. I've been back and forth with Character Option's customer service today, whose response has basically been "We can't help you. The figure is discontinued and we don't have the parts. Just return it." Not sure how that works since ALL classic Daleks are made of the same parts, but okay. The fact a bunch of new figures have just been teased on Twitter (including a 1963 Dalek that has the SAME damn colour scheme) has soured my mood even more. If I wasn't down the rabbit hole so far/loved this franchise so much it'd almost be enough to make me want to stop buying these things. (There is a Night of the Doctor 8th among the teased figures too though which is pretty sweet....just a shame its 3.75" and not 5" :( ) |

Rewatching Rose because I'm bored and, man, that CGI garbage can bit is awful. :lol

I found a thing... Thought you guys might like it! |
Nice find! I do love me some Who and we get some nice bits of it in there.

I liked that a lot. I really need to go back to my rewatch and pick up from where I left off in season 3 :lol
On a vaguely related note, I decided to give Jubilee a re-listen earlier in the week since the first time I listened to it I couldn't quite wrap my head around it. For those who don't know, it's the Big Finish audio adventure that Dalek from season one is derived from. But while you can see full-well how Jubilee eventually became Dalek, the two are very very different things. Jubilee is undoubtedly one of the most uncomfortable Doctor Who adventures I've seen/watched/read/whatever. It isn't particularly scary, but the way it plays upon the real-world capitalisation of the Daleks and makes you actually feel that the Dalek is one of the only sympathetic characters in the entire thing is very unsettling. It isn't my all-time favourite Dalek audio by any means (the list is LONG :lol), but if people were looking to get into Big Finish or wanted a "must have" title to check out, I would definitely consider it to be one of them. |

As I'm making my way back through post-2005 Who, I am reminded how sad I am that we never got a scene between Eleven and Wilf. Matt got very good at being an old man in a young man's body and I think those two would have been brilliant. Of course, Bernard Cribbins is all kinds of amazing so having him back in any capacity would have been great.

I guess it'll be pre-Children of Earth for most of the stuff, but I can see one maybe being set during Jack's time walking the Earth.

Not sure how I feel about this. That was a character that worked once or twice, but I can easily see myself growing very tired of them following repeat exposure. Really will depend on the execution. Hopefully they'll give this episode to a good writer and not, say, the guy behind the moon egg episo... oh. :( I actually didn't hate Kill the Moon, but I can very easily understand why many people did. I honestly feel that Forest of the Night was the only series 8 episode that was legitimately bad, and even that had some great Capaldi bits. |
Well, it looks like Moffat has signed on for series 10. Sigh. I appreciate him killing the David Yates film, but I cannot be excited by this news.

Man, it's weird seeing Wales Online cited on a predominantly American message board :lol the things Doctor Who has done for us.

Yeah, it has expanded some horizons, I think. I'm glad it has. I seriously doubt I could run down to the supermarket and grab a pack of Jammie Dodgers or Jaffa Cakes if Doctor Who hadn't helped create new legions of UKphiles. I'd call them anglophiles, but I hear people all the time excited about visiting Wales thanks to Doctor Who. It isn't just England anymore. |
Eh, Moffat can be decent when he's not trying to over-complicate things too much... And adding in pointless story arcs that go nowhere... and keep making everything so confusing it needs a flowchart to sort out...

I'm getting a little weary of the"love conquers all" endings that have become so prevalent under his reign. That and reset buttons. It's not killing the series for me, but I really think the show needs a fresh voice every once and a while.
