Watched some more Ryuki yesterday. Up to episode 9. Zolda has shown up with his bitchin' gun and Scissors has bit the dust.
This show keeps getting better. |
So...watching Let's Go Kamen Riders again...during the All Rider Break. Whose bike has the giant exhaust pipes on it?

Continuing my trend of going through all the Kamen Rider movies I haven't seen, I'm watching Kamen Rider Kiva: King of the Castle in the Demon World presently.

I'll get to GSL someday. |

The Kiva movie wasn't too bad. Can't line it up continuity wise with the series without a lot of jiggery-pokery, tho.
I think I may try God Speed Love next. I haven't seen any of Kabuto, outside of clips. |

So I'm halfway through Kamen Rider W returns Eternal. Wasn't this show about, like, Kamen Riders at one point? I dunno guys, I know Eternal's not that popular and I'm starting to see why.
Goddammit Skull should've had a movie like this instead of his episode-long jaunt in Core War. How awesome would that have been? An actual movie-length Skull story set between his War Core bit and Begins night. I mean, we've only ever seen the very beginning and very end of his time as a Rider. |
Yeah, Eternal's movie was rather pointless. I guess he's big in Japan, because he's a pretty lame character, all things considered.
Skull did deserve a full length movie, I'll agree. |
I would've liked to have seen how he and Shotaro met. Between that and the specifics of how he met Shroud/became a Rider, there's more potential for a story there than "Eternal was once kind of a good guy but not really." I mean, it felt less like expanding a character and flat-out making shit up.Like you said, it felt pointless. I guess he must be popular over there or something. (Although personally I think he's ugly, in and out of his Rider costume :p)
I also watched Accel Returns a while go and it was also just okay. |
I liked Accel Returns. Watching Terui fight handcuffed to a girl with just a handgun really was something you don't see in the show. It was unique and cool. Accel Booster is also kinda neat, I liked it.

God Speed Love is easily one of the best rider films out there. Alternate future? Yes. Still loops back around and ties into the show though. It's fantastic. Better than ALL rider films pre-Megamax in my opinion.
The Kiva movie? That one was a hard pill to swallow for me. Nothing really happened of value in it. It's completely in it's own continuity thanks to the Rey, Arc, and the new ass-backwards way that the future and past characters meet. And we're talking about how much the Eternal movie sucked right? I'm always up for that :D |
Am I the only person who actually loved the Eternal movie?
And not just because of my huge crush on Minase Yashiro? |
Saw episodes 27-40 of Kamen Rider OOO. I'm on the home stretch guys. Still has great character relationships and messed up character dynamics. Episodes 37 and 38 really rose the stakes even higher then episodes 15 and 16 did for me. Now its my favorite two parter.
One complaint: Lost Ankh doesn't really do anything except make Yummies and stand around listening to the adult Greeeds talk. I know he is perfectly capable of fighting as evidenced with his debut and he's thinking out his moves, but still though. Other then that, its still great. I also plan on getting into the OOO movie sometime soon. Is Burakawani really that badass? Just a quick question that doesn't have to do with watching, is the Kamen Rider OOO novel that just came out printed in English or Japanese? And if it's in Japanese, where can I find a translation. |
Started Wizard yesterday, since I figured "Hey, I should try and catch up while it's still in the teens". :lol
Up to episode 4. Overall I'm enjoying it. The Wizard belt is the best thing ever. Also, the sheer amount of Madoka Magica jokes I can make about it is just insane. :lol |

Episodes 2 and 3 of Kiva: I thought that they were good. It was an interesting twist that the violinist was the Fangire. I also wonder why and how Otoya's violin serves as a Fangire warning. I'm surprised that they introduced Nago so early on, they did address my one concern going in though. Since Nago is a Fangire hunter, and Wataru is half Fangire...how does Nago react to that? Speaking of which...they're already hinting at him becoming IXA which is interesting. Also, seeing Otoya makes me wonder when he'll use Kivat's father (then die after using him twice) speaking of Kivat, I like him. |

PS Accel Returns is among the best Rider movies, IMO. |
Just starting Episode 13 of W.
Damn the last two episodes were great, really liked the monster of the week, it was creepy and awesome. |

Against my better judgement I read the Tvtropes entry on Ryuki as well as the character sheet for the show even if there were spoilers and all it did was get me more excited for the rest of the series. I think I'm gonna like Tiger and the last few episodes and the movies seems to induce a mind screw with the story. Man I'm liking this series a lot.

I on the other hand seem to be only person who doesn't care all that much for Skull. |
Right now I'm watching everything from Kuuga to OOO's I love having so many shows to watch. xD

Thus, Eternal was kind of compromised with regards to coolness. I'll have to check out the second one to see if my opinion changes any, but it was kind of a missed opportunity. |
So Skull never really appears in the show proper I take it? I know he had a bit of a cameo in episode 13, but he's never actually involved in the series?

PS with a few new scenes and the footage from Begins Night, Message From Skull, and Nobody's Perfect there's a way to make a good hour and a half non-crossover non-flashback Skull movie. |

So am I gonna be hurtin' if I don't watch the movies? I skipped the Fourze ones, and aside from Rocket States coming from nowhere and Fourze's line about Nadeshiko being kinda out of place (I at least had read about the movie they premiered in) things seemed alright.
|
Yeah, W's movies are important. Begins night and A to Z are actual story stuff. Message from Skull and the two Returns are after the series, but still expand the story.
|
Guess I'll have to see about watching them then. When is a good time to do so? I just finished Episode 16...damn Fang Joker was as badass as I had hoped.

Well, the Begins Night portion of Movie War takes place before where you're at. So you could watch it now and be fine.
You'll know exactly when A to Z takes place when you see the intro change to advertise it. Everything else you don't need to worry about unti you've finished the show. |
Here's your W movie timeline:
Begins Night (Movie War 2010) is set between episodes14 and 15. Forever A to Z is set between episodes 44 and 45. Message from Skull (Movie War Core) is set after the end of the show. Accel Returns is set after Message from Skull. Eternal Returns is set after the end of the show. Quote:

Watched more Wizard yesterday, up to episode 8. Still enjoying it, but there a few things about it that continue to bug me.
Also, I'm gonna leave this here for anyone that wants it: https://www.evernote.com/shard/s108/...5704a993326fa8 I've had it copied to my notes on my Ipod Touch for awhile now. Comes in handy when I'm watching a Rider show. |
