Alright guys, it's Monday and you all know what that means!... Or not because I just made it up! It's time for Guncannon's weekly pick! Okay to quickly explain to those that don't know, each week I pick two obscure or underrated shows that I feel need a bit more attention than they get and share them with you here! So, now that that's out of the way let's get this get on with this weeks pick!
First up, Midori Days. http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/640...ced0215103.png A story following Seiji Sawamura a street brawler who's only wish is to get a girlfriend and Midori Kasugano a timid young girl who has feelings for him but dare not approach him. Little do the two know however that the gap between them is about to close in a way that neither of them could have expected, resulting in one of the most bizarre romantic comedies hands down. That's a pun and you don't even know yet. Now I know there are some people out there who don't exactly care for romantic comedies and prefer a bit more substance with their entertainment. If that's the case then I point you towards my next pick... Haibane Renmei. http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__.../Main_Page.jpg A story about angels in purgatory, or put more simply, young girls with wings and halos that live in a small town boarded by a tall stone wall that they must never approach, and merely remain in the town until their day of flight awaits them. Hopefully you all find something in either of those two, or if not, well wait until next week where we'll have another two shows for your viewing pleasure. |

Finished Sankarea. Now onto AKB0048. The government in the show sure does have some long sticks up their collective asses :I

So I waited so long for a batch of Shingeki episodes...that the show actually finished. Oh well, time for a big catch up! And luckily for me, I left the series at the end of an arc, so I'm starting again from a new one which makes stuff easier.
So episode seventeen, holy fuck a female Titan! And an insanely badass one at that. Man I forgot just how incredible this show is, the highs, the lows, the pure intensity. Since this was mainly all action, there isn't a lot to comment on, but MAN was it good. I love this show so much. |
Shingeki eighteen. Man I forgot that anime pacing is like toku in slow motion. It isn't that this show is bad, but so little happens in every episode that I have barely anything to write about. I'm just glad they changed location, because those flat plains looked awful.

Clannad After Story episodes 5 & 6
Uh... when did they switch on a flashback? Also, not sure if this is of any significance but I couldn't help but notice that Shima has the same voice actor as the robot. |
So BlazBlue is dropped, since I can't understand half of what's going on.
And I'll continue to watch Tokyo Ravens, at least till they show Tokyo or any Ravens, or Ravens that happen to be from Tokyo. :P |

Caught up with last week's Golden Time. I like this show a lot so far. A little generic, but very cute, and it's nice to have an anime set in college rather than high school.

I was scouring Youtube, and I accidently stumbled on Wolf and Spice. And I am enjoying the hell out of it, I really am. Holo is endearing, you find yourself rooting for Kraft. Even if he is oblivious alot of the time. And I love an anime with a lore. I'm a sucker for a good lore. |

Shingeki 19 and 20.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. This show is slow. Like seriously, each episode is maybe three scenes at most. Like it's well animated, and the action is well directed, and the brutality of the carnage and death is something else, but the whole damn thing plays out so slowly that it's basically impossible to have an opinion on it. This whole show rests on cliffhangers, twists and mysteries but then the whole thing unravels at such a snails pace you've already forgotten most of the set up before it comes to the time for everything to be revealed. I mean all along the Recon Corps were trying to capture this female Titan that came from nowhere? I'd say that doesn't add up, but it'd also require me to go back like ten episodes to watch this whole arc play out from the start again. And it's a TWENTY FIVE episode season. |
The pacing in Shingeki is quite wierd it's like they spend one minute per manga page.
Making it slow... as heck... Worth it, but rather weird. |
Watched episode 2 of Blazblue, and all I can say is if the studios behind it had the intention of making the most uninviting show for newcomers possible they certainly succeeded. Bleh.

They should have simply recorded someone playing the game and add voice acting, that would have been way better. :P |

Finished AKB0048 and now moving onto Angel Beats! .

Shingeki 21.
We finally got our Titan Clash and it was...surprisingly crappy, largely thanks to the quality of the animation plummeting in this episode. Still, the ramifications of choice and tearing down Japan's reliance on the 'power of friendship' trope was really really fun. It was even more entertaining, because the choice to instead believe in one's own power failed just as hard and just as easily as believing in one's friends. This hopelessness is one of the best parts of this show, no one is safe, it creates a refreshing intensity, not knowing if the heroes will actually win, for real. |
Shingeki 22.
The brutality of death in this show doesn't just stop with the deaths themselves. It was another slow episode, but also deeply moving. 23. Can someone explain this episode to me? I'm serious, I have no idea what is going on. Annie refused to go underground, then suddenly everyone knew she was the female Titan. Like what...what is so significant about going underground? I'm totally lost. It's like we skipped a whole arcs of information in the middle of this episode. |
Armin already had solid evidences of her true identity, I'm not sure if they were explained in this episode, if not, it'll be the first thing explained in the next one.
Going underground mainly meant helping them, Eren had hopes that she was still trustworthy. |
Ah so episode 24 explains all. Or at least explains a little bit...sort of. I dunno why they bothered to tell the story like this, gah this show is so frustrating! It wastes its potential. Eren certainly was a good audience avatar this episode though, saying exactly what we were thinking.
Still, why is it all about Annie? What about the secrets in Eren's basement, and the colossal and armoured titans? The origins of the titans? And probably a shit load of other stuff I have forgotten. How is all of that going to get answered in the last episode? |
:lol
Silly Locke... Since the manga isn't over, a new season will have to answer that. |
