Thinking of selling some stuff soon but I’m extremely uncomfortable with Paypal displaying my whole name. Anyone know of a good alternate payment site?

A friend of mine uses cashapp instead of Paypal, but he says not many people actually use it.

Perhaps you can find a friend who can receive the payment and then just send it to you after all is said and done.

I have this concern too, but I also think you can use a fake name or company name on Paypal.

I have tried to find a way to do a different display name, but I’ve never been successful...

Do you have a middle name? You could use your first and middle names.

I have taken on Jello’s advice to use Cashapp, though. Seems simple enough to use!

The new Beast Wars Megatron toy looks great, yeeeeeesss.

I finally finished Build Divers. It's a shame that it's a mediocre series, because there are potential, the supporting characters are pretty fine but was done injustice by focusing on the bland Riku and Sarah. The final arc's conflict seems forced, however the final episode raid battle was pretty fun.

Now onto Re:Rise, I think I'm going to watch the dub, one of the saving grace of Build Divers was the amazing english dubs, and Billy Kametz voices Hiroto in Re:Rise!

Well super annoyed today.

I ordered 3 of those Kamen Rider acrylic displays from Bluefin and the package arrived "relabeled" by FEDEX. When I opened the package it only had 1 of the 3 displays in there and a random pair of gloves????

It looks like the package tore open in transit and FEDEX repackaged it incorrectly (it was also missing any form of packing list or paperwork).

So I contacted Bluefin and they basically said there was nothing they could do about it because FEDEX messed up. All I could do was file a claim.

To make matters worse, the acrylic displays are now sold out so I can't even get them if and when I get my refund.

Big bummer.

Jeez that sucks... which ones did you lose? I know certain other websites like Tokullectibles carry them.

I ordered Zero One, Kamen Rider 1st, and Hiden intelligence.

Zero One was the only one in the package.

Unfortunately Tokullectibles is twice the cost for something I already feel is a little overpriced. Ironically I was partly buying these to show Bluefin that I want to see more stuff like this available in the states.

Oh god I should have not taken that job. The stress is killing me and my boss is, well to put it this way he can never keep a team of designers and I’m now starting to see why. I’m his third designer in three months. And on top of that my apartment complex is trying to bill me for something I don’t owe. But where I live tenant rights are close to non-existent. I can’t wait for this lease to end so I can go up north and be closer to family.

Thanks. No just incredibly disorganized and takes his frustration out on others. I wasn’t hired to get verbally abused and be bounced around project to project just to get yelled at for nothing getting done. I feel like I’m being set up to fail.

Me too. It really is. All I want to do is use my skillset to make a living. But I am not going to be put through mental torture. I'm strongly considering changing careers if I cannot get anywhere with my talents.

As a fellow designer, I can totally relate. Designers are really not meant to be managed in the traditional sense. We use years of experience to create things in 1 or 2 hours and then expect to only be paid for those few hours.

Our idea often clash with the "business" side of company.

My worst nightmare job experience was working with a long distance manager who started our first meeting with, "I'm not a micro manager or anything, but I need you to keep a log of everything you're doing on a time table."

Some context, I had been working at this place for about a year, my first boss and the one who hired me was great but she left for a much better offer. For 2 months they couldn't find a replacement so they eventually gave the position to one of the upper management's son, who lived a few states away! The situation deteriorated quick and I think I left within the month. Imagine writing in a time table that you spent 2-3 hours just researching and thinking about a design. He could not understand that.

A thing to keep in mind is that managers often have no formal managing experience or training. They are just workers who got promoted up for sometimes arbitrary or nepotism reasons. Managing is a very specific skillset and one that is not valued enough for being done well.

Oh man that sounds frustrating.

Yeah my new job expects me to design T-shirts in less that 30 minutes and wants me to advertise and manage marketing when I know nothing about marketing. A single design takes at least an hour depending on the complexity of the design. And I’m the only designer on staff besides the owner. And he keeps taking me away from my projects to work on other projects and then wonders why the initial projects didn’t get done. And then he has the nerve to tell me I don’t know photoshop because I’m not reliant on the keyboard shortcuts like he is. Despite the fact that he didn’t know how to do something himself when I asked for help on one single thing! I’ve done everything else on my own! And he expects me to do everything the way he wants me to do it but doesn’t want to take the time to train me to do it his way. Plus the guy is horrible at time management. He is always late with his meetings and leaves me alone for hours on end so when I’m stumped I’m stuck alone not knowing what the fuck to do.

I should have known better than to take a job there. The guy once took me and a former classmate of mine on as interns. Never showed up to teach us anything. Paid us for two weeks and then canceled the internship program! Which left me getting a job at a place that primarily uses CorelDraw. Yet has the nerve blast me about my level of photoshop skill.

Thanks. I plan to revise my website and get help from my old college to find a new job. I might look into working for the school district. Might work my way into becoming an art teacher. I’ve already got my one boss to agree to writing a letter of recommendation to use when applying for jobs. I’ll ask my former instructors to write some as well. I hope you found something better after that experience.

All this talk about design reminds me of when I was in high school. I loved art and wanted to be a designer. And then one my friend's father told me that design is in decline here in Australia.

Surprisingly my English grades were the highest so I'm focusing on becoming a writer now.

Design isn’t in decline it just fluctuates in demand. It’s also highly competitive. Good luck with the writing. I’ve tried my hand at that. I’m pretty decent. I’ve studied creative writing in high school and college. It was fun.

Finally had an item I was waiting for drop into my Pile of Loot at BBTS earlier this week (MMC Mors), so I decided to get all my held stuff shipped out. I don't do more than a few BBTS shipments in a year, so I had forgotten the frustration of placing the shipment order and then waiting days and days for them to finally process, pack and ship it. Still hasn't gone out, which means it probably won't go out until early next week, which means it'll've been a full week for them to get three things boxed and labelled. Glad I paid for faster shipping!

Yeah BBTS is nice and has a good selection but man their shipping estimates are way off.

Pre-order dates go months over due. I understand stuff gets delayed, but some sort of updated timelines would be great. I've placed many pre-orders, then saw them cheaper somewhere else in stock and ready to ship. So I've received stuff while the same pre-orders wait and I ultimately cancel.

Yeah, that Mors figure in particular was in-stock at TFSource about three weeks ago. You're definitely rolling the dice with BBTS.

That part, though, I don't know. It feels like it's out of their control. Stuff arrives from vendors at weird times, especially when you're talking about overseas shipping. Taking four to six days to pack an order, though, that's 100% under their control. And I paid extra for shipping! Didn't go with the cheapest option! Thought that might expedite things! Was very wrong!

I started Build Divers Re:Rise. It seems promising, I quite liked Hiroto. People said he's a lot like Mikazuki, but I'm glad he's not. Also, RAY CHASE IS VOICING KAZAMI?! Oh man I'm gonna enjoy this dub.

The only thing I hate about this show so far, is that now I have the urge to get all the Planet Systems. Damn you Gunplas for being affordable!

Affordable? Hahaha that's where you start falling into the trap! I did a calculation of buying EVERY single Core Gundam variant and PLANETS System (including the Alus versions) last month and it amounted to around a WHOPPING 16,885 JPY; mind you this doesn't include the Anima Rize nor the Core Gundam II in Titan and G3 colors.

Gunpla's a bit of a dangerous hobby. Cheap, yes, but soon you might end up breaking your wallet.
