Episode 32 of Gokaiger
Well Doc just came out of nowhere and stole the spot of my favorite Gokaiger. Good work Doc and congratulations you have a fan now! |
So episode 5 of gekiranger Ran has a really awesome style and centipede ken is pretty cool yet creepy at the same time.
|
At the risk of bringing up Dairanger's ending yet again, I was just listening to HJU Radio #46 and at around the 1:15 mark there's a really interesting discussion of open vs. closed endings (mostly in relation to East vs. West and focusing on Daimajin Kanon, Hibiki, and 555). It covers both sides pretty thoroughly and I think it's worth a listen if you have strong feelings one way or the other about Dairanger's finale.

I just finished MagiRanger and am now trying to decide which series to move on too. I have all the episodes for both GekiRanger and Shinkenger and so I'm weighing the two. Leaning more toward Geki since 1. I've heard it is good and 2. Since I've seen all of MagiRanger and Boukenger I can start watching them in order from this point out. Well till I get to GoKaiger which I've seen all of and Kyoryuger, which I am watching as they come out like everyone else.
Also been watching KakuRanger as they get released. |

But pick Gekiranger. Despite my mad ravings in favor of it, it's still underrated! I know, crazy, but it is! |

It's just boring. :lol Now, there can be shows that are so boring they're terrible. Sun Vulcan wears that title proudly, but considering what I saw in Gosei Vs. Shinken (And the fact that I only made it about 20 episodes in Shinken), I'm remaining hopeful that it does improve around the second half. |
I'd like to mention that I didn't find Shinkenger boring in the least.

Outside of Chiaki's brief moments of character, I didn't really find anything interesting since the series forced everything to be on Takeru, who's a fine character, but really didn't win me over to carry the series. I do intend of re-watching it to see if I still hold the same feelings, but until then, it's a very meh series to me. |
I'm actually right there with you Matrixbeast. I did not hate Shinkenger, but I found the series to be bland and it missed out on so much potential. Outside of the episodes with Juuzo, I cannot think of anything memorable in the show. Plus, the pile of mecha just got down right ridiculous by the middle of the show.
One day I do plan to watch the show over, as I might see things differently. Hell, I have made it through 6 episodes of Goseiger thus far, which I believe is further than when it first aired. |
And with episode 28 of Gekiranger the team is complete. Ken's a lot of fun so far, I think I'm really going to like him. I was a bit surprised at how fast he got added, though. It feels like Gou just showed up and already the next member's here. It may also be because Ken didn't have a three-episode arc leading up to him gaining his powers.

Thanks for all the input guys!
I watched the first episode of both to try to help me, and if I based it only on that then I'd be watching Geki. It just grabbed hold of me more. Of course I hated the first four episodes of Boukenger and then that went on to be one of my favorites. So that doesn't mean much. But...I think I might go with Shinkenger and I have a really backwards reason for doing so. And that reason is that I already own Shinken-Oh. Now the first question you might ask is why do you have the Robo from a show you haven't even seen? Well that's just because I had a chance to buy it and I did. What does that have to do with which show I watch? Because they are big toy advertisement and well...they work. I want to finish out my Boukenger stuff before I start jonesing for new toys from a new show, which watching Geki would make me want to do. Now, I also know there is a major flaw in this plan in that I ONLY own Shinken-Oh. And once those other Origami start showing up, I'll want those...so maybe that's not a good idea either. Does anyone just want to give me a big truck load of money so I can finish off Boukenger, and buy all the Geki and Shinkenger toys too? No...well worth a try. |
Aww. Oh well. I guess you can watch Geki next...

Episode 38 of Gokaiger
Holy shit, this episode was awesome! The final showdown between Joe and Barizorg, the grand power of the Gokaigers (which includes Go-onger for some reason?) and the last stand of Warz Gill! Simply put, I loved this one to death. |

Watched the Gokai Gobus movie.
Man. I really don't like the Gokaigers :\ |
I watched the Go-Buster vs Gokaiger movie today. Outside of the narrator giving off the powers being almost non-existent (I missing the really loud call outs for each Sentai team the Gokaigers use), the movie wasn't bad. I think the scenes with the Buddyroids were bad, and the problem with the Go-Busters is I stopped caring about them long ago, but I loved everything with the Gokaigers, the old mecha (love Jin's "This feels like home" comment), and I love how they named the drunk villain after the god of whine. That was pretty cool. I do think they completely wasted Basco's character though. I know he was just an avatar but come on.

Well after 4 episode of Shinkenger, I went and changed my mind. Mainly due to the fact that I can't stand Shinken Red. Maybe he grows on you, but I don't like him much. Jan is much more my speed so I switched to Geki and am now up to episode 5. Hopefully I can catch up and start watching with the rest of you.

EDIT: Okay I just read on overtime that everyone was saying the film had audio issues. Weird, I honestly didn't notice them myself. |

The Mobirates voice over definitely sounded off. Like he was echoing from really far away. It didn't sound right at all to me. And I had to do the same as Dr. Kain on the Gavan movie. The audio was so low I had to turn it up to the max just to get it to a semi-audible level.
|
those were audio issues? I thought they were intentional

Anyhow even if you let it go now, I do recommend getting back to Shinkenger in the future. Trust me, Takeru really grows on you A LOT. Contrast his latest appearance in Goseiger vs Shinkenger with how he was in the early episodes of Shinkenger and you'll notice a stark contrast. Shinken Red has excellent character development and he's probably the best thing about Shinkenger. |
IT'S TIME FOR BUSTER!
I was on the bandwagon for some time and disliked Gobuster..But I finally gave it change, and I love the series..Beet, and Stag Buster are a awesome extra duo! |

We're currently on episode 18, so it shouldn't take long for you to catch up if you can at least manage 3 episodes a day until you reach us :lol Quote:
But I just found Takeru to be a bore. Leagues better than Jayden, but still just boring. By having the series revolve around him, I just couldn't sit through it :lol I still intend on revisiting it, though, perhaps after I start and finish Go-Onger. Unlike some others here, I'm fully capable of altering my stance and opinions. (Oh, and Genta tries way too hard. I can't stand him. Like, Genta to me is what Shunpei is to Switchblade :lol) |
I got semi caught up today with Dairanger. Watched episodes 3-8 and then watched the movie. Pretty great stuff. Although episodes 7 and 8 are so Sentai's version of Star Wars.
|
I also found Takeru to be less interesting than counting pennies.

Episodes 1 and 2 of Goseiger
I'm mostly checking out this series just to see if it's really as bad most people around here says it is. I'm considering watching it in its entirety before passing judgement and maybe form my own opinions about it once I finished it though it might take some time due watching a few other Sentai shows at the same time. |

I must vouch for Gosei as well. The first arc (Warstar) is as bland and boring as everyone complains, but it does improve come the 2nd villain set.

Was there ever a soundtrack available for DaiRanger? I'd love too get Jin's theme music along with a few other tracks.

Watched episode 1 and 2 of Zyuranger as research. Crazy stuff =p My favourite part is that they've been asleep for 170 million years but can ride motorcycles...
Otherwise, it's pretty fun stuff and if I had more time i'd probably watch more. Certainly different from MMPR. |

But life has gotten in the way and I'm only up to Gekiranger episode 7. Hoping to cover a lot of ground this week though. |
