Gundam Koukan! Type Burning!

Not really. In the original Japanese dub Domon starts with Shining Gundam still, but the main evil mech was Devil Gundam. Not Dark Gundam. But the US dub censored that and went with more PC names. Devil Gundam became Dark Gundam, and God Gundam was changed to Burning Gundam. So no the name made perfect sense in the original context. They also changed Tequllia Gundam from Mexico to the much more appropriate Spike Gundam. At this point it doesn't bother me anymore as G Gundam is still a fantastic series.

What's funny though is the director for Build Fighters Try literally had no idea God Gundam had been changed to Burning Gundam when G came to the US. Build Burning Gundam's name isn't in reference to that at all. It's just a random coincidence :lol

No it didn't because the villains name is Devil Gundam. Plus, they changed Tequila Gundam to Spike Gundam, completely destroying that it was mean to be Mexico's Gundam. Matador Gundam being changed to Toro.

Actually, in the uncut English dub it's still Tequila Gundam (version of the anime before it came to cartoon network). That's what I remember anyway.

Have you seen these Gundams? The name Tequila tells me nothing the sombrero doesn't. If anything, the name Tequila just tells me the pilot is drunk, not Mexican. Nothing is being lost here because the designs speak for themselves.

There is no uncut dub of G. The DVDs used the Toonami dub, with awkward rephrasing to avoid using words like "death" still intact. The subtitles are still completely uncut though.

Its called censorship. Do you really think parents wanted their children seeing a show with 'God', Devil, and Tequila in it? I mean I know mine would throw a fit. Hell, it still doesnt bother me now, I dont mind it. I prefer the dub anyway.

Yes it did because it was more suited to Domon's character and it made it's signature attack sound less stupid also it didn't look the least bit holy or deity like to me. You can't be serious here: the Gundam not being named after an alcoholic drink completely destroyed the fact that it was Mexico's Gundam for you? And completely ignoring the possible unfortunate implications of that statement Sweden's Gundam was a blonde Japanese schoolgirl for...reasons.

I take it you're not gonna like Mobile Fighter G Gundam are you. Honestly, I really don't care, to each there own *which asshole anime & RWBY fanboys/fangirls were like that on the RWBY facebook group I'm on, but that's for another topic*. Honestly, not everyone will like some of the older Gundam shows, I like G Gundam the most as I watched that first, Wing is 2nd due to me not ever having time to watch it as a kid *f%%king school*, & I surprisingly don't have a big amount of hate for Seed or Seed Destiny, sure there's like the 2 most quote on quote "horrid" Gundam shows in the eyes of many, but idk if it's the designs of the grunt suits & actual gundam units that has made me like it, I just can't give it the hate I originally did, weird. Seed & Seed Destiny still are the lowest on my Gundam show list, doesn't mean I dislike them.

Nope. Not at all. The director has been quoted as saying he was completely unaware of the name change for the english dub. After all God and Devil are more ideological concepts than religious icons in that culture. So the fact that someone would be unaware of the change is pretty easy to understand. For them there'd be nothing politically incorrect about those names at all.

And to the arguments made about it looking "nothing like a deity" you clearly don't get the point. God Gundam as a name is a representation of the absolute power that machine can achieve. Not it's status as an actual deity. Like I said religious icons don't correlate the same way they do in Western culture. Much like Devil Gundam has the dark power of "the devil", an absolutely imposing dark force that only the power of a god could overcome in the end.

The Turn A is more fitting for that moniker then and I understood the symbolism perfectly I just don't agree with it as the God Gundam doesn't look the least bit holy or Godlike to me contrasted against the Devil Gundam which actually looked demonic.

Watching Build Fighters has me itching to build a kit. I'm probably going to end up being naughty and use some money I was saving for the holidays and finally buy a kit.

That's how I totally feel after finishing Build Fighter last night, since I seriously cannot wait until my Build Burning Gundam to be back in stock at HLJ and the rest of the Try Fighter team from BF try.

I might buy Wing Feince or one of the Build Strikes.

It's like you didn't even read what I said. It has nothing at all to do with looking holy or demonic or any of that. What you think the name implies is irrelevant, that wasn't the point of why it was named God Gundam. It has to do with the powers it possesses. THAT'S the symbolism. Yes, Devil Gundam is a huge monster that looks evil, it does not however feature traits exclusive to what an or "the" devil would look like. It's not specifically trying to emulate what an actual devil would look like.

And Turn A came out 5 years after G Gundam. It's not like they would reuse a name like that. And if they did, in what way would it fit your "looks like a deity" criteria better? Because it doesn't.

The add on sets they've released are actually dirt cheap FYI. I beleive the Bike only costs 600 yen on HJL.

I said I understood what they were going for but didn't agree that it was entirely fitting as nothing about God Gundam says holy or "God" to me wheras I can watch a clip of the Devil Gundam and say "yeah I know how it got it's name" therefore I thought Burning Gundam was better.


As for my Turn A comment I was referring to your comment about God Gundam's supposedly unlimited power being how it got it's name.

You guys know if the backpacks from build fighters are compatible with all HGs/ gundams?

Due to the review I do know that Build Burning is comptabile with other backpacks due to a extra piece that goes in his two peghole on the back. This is all I know, not sure if it's much of a help or not.

The individual packs from the Build Custom line come with a bunch of adapters for different connectors, so yes, they can go on any HG gunpla that you can remove the existing backpack from (for example, they can't work with the Reborns because the main thruster/Cannon mode chest cannot be removed, so it gets in the way of the new pack). The packs that come with their respective gundams, however, don't come with the adapters. I actually demonstrate the different connector types/uses in my Dark Matter Booster review:

Yeah, sometimes. I rarely can afford to buy gunpla, though, so they're few and far between. I still haven't uploaded my Full Armor Unicorn review, however, so that'll be coming sometime...

The first time I heard it on a recording it was deeper than I expected, too :lol. I really should be a dramatic movie narrator or something.

It's about as good as it can be for a big hunk of light grey plastic I guess :lol

I don't have much experience with Gundam stands, but it's pretty sturdy. My only complaints are that I wish the arm was longer and the data sheet was a bit sturdier. All it is is a piece of paper that you need to cut out of a template.

I think that the other gunpla in BF should've come with pre-filled screens for the GP Base so you don't have to make the screens for the in-show gunpla yourself. Then the blank one with the actual Base could be reserved for your custom gunpla.
