No no, you misread what I said. I mean the reason they didn’t get a Japanese person to play the red was because they specifically wanted a white guy in the lead role, because they didn’t think that kids would buy toys otherwise. That’s the racist part. Having a Japanese guy playing the red at least would have made vastly more sense.

I read (forget where) it was because the female Red had already cast. Either way, it’s ridiculous. I think it would have made more sense for the two Reds not to be biologically related.

Both of those examples were also audience ignorance, not actual racism. Iron Fist for example is built on the aspect of his privilege and his obliviousness. So changing his character nullifies his innate metaphor of what he conveys. He's one of those rare ones that can't be changed because it's actually built into who his character is. It'd be like changing Black Panther. Simply doesn't work as it then destroys what the character represents. In Iron Fist's case it's because he was one of the original founders of the entire trope/cliche that gets thrown at him in modern times. Unlike characters like spider-man or many others where race doesn't play a huge factor in their character, Iron Fist is one of the few where it really does because of his early comics with Luke Cage, and many of his character defining stories. As well as other aspects to his growth in a foreign land. Any changes to him redefines the character's innate metaphor and stories to the point it wouldn't be the Danny Rand Iron Fist.

And Tom Cruises character in the Last Samurai was a British officer. Again, changing his character would have innately ruined the metaphors being used for the story and the story being told. Though I have no clue how historically accurate it is.

This was during a time when areas were causing propaganda stirs against all manner of movies even if it didn't apply. And people were hopping on the mob mentality without checking the material of the film itself or bothering to try and understand why. Having their ignorance get taken advantage of as they were baited into it to cause an uproar. While a few did need to be spoken against for what they were doing, the scattershot approach hit too many that didn't actually apply because very few were checking the films being thrown at them. Mix this in with how various areas fetishize Asian people & their cultures, and it's a recipe for disaster and toxic ignorance.

For Samurai red, that was entirely on casting though. It partially doesn't make sense since they are supposed to be descendants. But also 'chosen warriors' have no real limitations by race or creed either. Typically speaking, samurais are by bloodline. Though there are other instances of newly formed lineages too(none in recent times that I'm aware of, but every Samurai lineage had to start somewhere).

Because "his holiness" is the big money draw. Tommy has always been the fan favorite. They made him a main Power Ranger on 4 different occasions. That should tell you something.

I thought it was nicely made on a filmmaking level with great special effects. Everything else, not so much. It would have worked better if it was a dark comedy since he said that he did it as a satire on people wanting their childhood shows, movies, games, etc. to be dark and edgy. Instead, it ends up falling flat. A good idea for a satire that could have been better. I feel like Power Rangers is better off not going past PG-13 in my opinion. I feel like stuff made for a younger audience should stay being made for a younger audience (With some rare exceptions like with Amazons). Same with stuff made for adults should stay being made for an older audience (Which is why I don't like seeing R/M rated stuff being water down for a PG-13 rating).

Adi Shankar would later go on doing Castlevania for Netflix. Unlike PR, it makes sense for Castlevania to be R rated (TV-MA).

What if Saban had dub Zyuranger instead of doing MMPR? Could have work on TV at the time.

I know there's a dub of the original ultraman out there (it might all be on youtube, I watched some episodes there). I feel like it would've been less successful with the toy buying demographic of the time since it would be "more mature" (I haven't seen zyuranger I just figure they death and child kidnapping makes it more mature). It might off end up like batman TAS great show ratings but bad toy sales. Something I feel like is that MMPR managed to capture a zeitgeist with the whole "teenagers with attitude thing" which brought in good ratings and toys sales. So I think we got a mores successful series with what we got.

What if Hasbro make a deal with Disney to broadcast PR in Disney XD ?

I'm very certain Disney and Hasbro's relationship can be described as "complicated" considering Disney produces media for two of Hasbro's biggest "boy's properties" but at the same time Hasbro sells also aligned with other channels, so Hasbro breaking into media production could be an interesting shake up in their relationship.

To give a more clear answer I think it could be plausible due to Hasbro and Disney's relationship, but I don't think Disney is really interested in having PR again, though not having to pay for production may them be more interested.

That's a maybe. When I was a kid, I enjoy watching movies made outside of the US like the Showa Godzilla movies and Hong Kong Kun Fu films. So watching a dub of Zyuranger would have not bothered me if I saw it as a kid. The show would have been edited, and there would be no uncut version for the Sentai fans to enjoy.

However, I'm not sure how the rest of the American public would have got into it or not. You do have dumb people out there that won't watch stuff if there are no American actors into it. Some people may be turned off by the idea of a Japanese live-action show being dubbed into English because they would get flashbacks of a lot of old bad dubs of foreign movies not having matching lips.

I think the show would have an audience, but may not be a huge hit like MMPR was.
