As someone who has been building and collecting Gunpla since 2016 (but a fan of the series long before that), I dare not count how many I have.
But I will say things eventually slow down? Unless of course you are a hardcore completionist! Once you pick up all the suits you like and realize just how much is out of print, P-Bandai only, or just hot because it's new, your build cadence will settle. Is that a reprieve for your wallet and shelf? Lol my friends, think again. You will start looking at Kotobukiya and Moderoid models kits. Resin kits. 3rd party custom kits. Super mini pla. Maybe lockdown is a blessing... :p |
Personally I tend to only get model kits of characters/mechs that I know there's like a 90% chance of them never getting an action figure. Great Zeorymer, for example. That said, as expansive as Gunpla is, I am sad that there's not a modern HG for Harry Ord's' Gold SUMO. Comes with the territory of Turn A not being very popular, I guess. By the way if you've never seen Turn A, watch it. It's my favorite Gundam.

My favorite mobile suit is the Pale Rider and I never thought we'd get a model kit.
Now its 2020 and not only does the Pale Rider exist in HG, we're also getting the upgraded Todesritter form! Anything can happen! The existence of the Gundam Build series opens up a lot of potential to obscure suits. Because the Gundams in those shows are often based on actual Gundam from older series, when they make them into model kits, they bring about runners that can be used in a normal release of the original character. For example: Jiyan Altron from Build Divers is based on the Gundam Wing Altron which hasn't seen a model kit since the 90s. That kit's runners are clearly labeled just Altron so we're definitely getting a modern HG of Altron. The popularity of the Age-based characters from Build Divers definitely led to the 2019 reprint of the HG Gundam Age kits. I'm hopeful that the May's Wodom pod from Re:Rise brings us a modern Wodom. And if that brings us something from Turn A... who knows! |
I'm still salty that they skipped MG G-Self Ver. Ka in favor of another Wing Gundam. They put out a poll asking what Ver. Ka. to make mext and the winner was G-Self, so why Wing?!?
I was even more upset when I found out that the new HG Mercurius and Vayete was gonna be P-Bandai. Of course, if they ever put out a Gunpla of the Over.on, all is forgiven. |
Oh damn, didn't expect that. Zoids Wild is actually getting a dub. I know what I'm binging next.
Also, Hasbro's' "figures" for the series are actually model kits. Between them and Moderoid, I REALLY hope I can get a modern Hound Soldier kit. |

Also I want a v2 Assault Buster but they are super rare and expensive. That being said, RG Eva 02 is going to be my last model kit for the tear (probably) because I'm really running out of space |
Trying to determine which collectables I can store in a small knapsack/ cloth bag.
So far I'm thinking Geed Capsules, R/B Crystals, Ryusouls, Z Medals, Taiga Accessories, Zyudenchi, OOO medals, wizard rings (as long as there aren't too many). I'm not sure what else though tbh. I'm doing this to try to find a nice way to store my toku stuff without having to display it. I'm cool with things like gashats, and eyecons just sitting around because they're pretty large. Don't really know what to do with astro switches, gaia memories, and kyutamas, since they're more medium sized and would need a very large bag. As for Orb cards, I don't even know, I don't really want to get a binder for them. Edit: please ignore my inconsistent capitalization. |

I particularly like resshas because they are easy to store, being mostly flat and geometric, stackable etc. Also no worries about accidently triggering and sounds or electronics (looking at you Ridewatches).

This makes me imagine that if Deepsea were in a Toku show, he'd be the guy who hoards tons of power trinkets and sells them to specific people like some sort of backstreet dealer. :lol

This is exactly how I imagined them naming the collectible devices and other stuff in Toku.
Gaim: Toy designer: So what do we call this thing? Employee: It's a lock and it has a fruit on it, so Lockfruit. Toy designer: But we also made nut variations. Employee: Then Lockseed. Toy designer: Why Lockseed? Employee: Because they all have seeds in them duh! Wizard: Toy designer: Okay, this year the gimmick is rings, anybody have a name for these? Employee: Wizard Rings. Toy designer: Wizard Rings? Employee: Yeah because the main Rider is called 'Wizard and the gimmick is 'rings' so 'Wizard Rings'. Fourze: Toei: Okay we need a new name for our fortieth anniversary Rider, any suggestions? Employee: Well forty is made up of four and zero, so we can do four-zero. Toei: Four-zero? Employee: Yeah! Or we can do 'Four-ze' for short! |

I wonder if one day I'll be able to enjoy Power Rangers again.

Toei: Man, you should have been at the company party last night, everyone managed to bring a full bottle Employee: A... full bottle? |
So it looks like AC/DC is about to announce something new. Their social media is dropping new never before seen art and video teases.

Just submitted an assignment and then I realised that I forgot to add in a paper that states that I haven't plagiarised anything. So now I ended up submitting everything late. Ugh.
Bit of a bitter pill to swallow, but it serves me right for not reading every single terms and conditions of submitting an assignment. Oh well, better to have reduced grades than no grades I guess. |

On the bright side, this has been a learning experience for me to always check stuff first before starting an assignment so I can get good grades and actually manage my time. I feel like the latter part is gonna be very important if I want a job. Good thing it's only going to be a 10% mark reduction in an assignment that counts for 40% of a unit in a course I'm taking (I actually thought the penalty would be like 20-25%!). If I can do good on the others within the same unit I should be okay. |

I just got a podcast job!

The fact I just got this a few weeks ago really isn't helping my case here. |

I'm considering going with the method people were talking about for sealing So-Do stickers once I get my hands on some I intend to buy, buuut I also don't really want to destroy a figure I only have one of. In other news, I found a decent place to store Figuarts boxes, so that's good. |

Hey so I'm considering buying this lot of geed items, what do you all think of it? I'm mostly worried about having to find the victory/X New generation capsule, but also are the other sets in here relatively complete?

Out of curiosity what's the age rating/demographic for the any Power Rangers series? PG-13?

Interesting. Are all Power Ranger shows aimed at a demographic of ages 7 and up? I don't watch Power Rangers but I'm quite interested in how toku affects society in the West.
Tell me, does Power Rangers still face resistance from parents or not as much as before? |

That said there are things in the franchise aimed at the older crowd: The comics, Hyper Force, and the Lightning Collection toyline, for example. But the TV series itself is still very much for kids. Power Rangers doesn't get AS much resistance from parents as it used to, since alot of kids who grew up with the show are now becoming parents themselves, but there's still complaints every now and again. |

Today Power Rangers is more socially acceptable level of violence compared to other children's entertainment, but is considered socially unacceptable for the cheesy nature. I remember being in pre-school and Kindergarten Power Rangers was cool. But in 4th-5th grade it was uncool and seen as something for "little babies" much like Barney or Blues Clues. I do know from my experience from working at TRU the majority of people buying Power Rangers merchandise were young adults nostalgic for MMPR and grandparents of extremely young kids. Like Thomas the Tank Engine and Sesame Street age kids. So the targeted demographic mocks the show for being "cheesy" while it's the bees knees to anyone currently being potty trained. That's at least my experience. |
