The problem with Sentai is Toei is not taking any risks. ZyuRanger, DaiRanger, and KakuRanger were big risks for Toei because they were something completely different from past series. Toei has not really done anything as big of a risktaker like that in years. Look at Hurricanger. It rehashed the ninja theme, but played everything safe. AbaRanger, on the other hand, tried out some new ideas and concepts.

all i ask is to plz finally make a mecha combination that breaks the current record. a 13 in one wouldnt be bad at all imo

With a new Dinosaur sentai being aired, this makes 2013 an even better time for Zyuranger SHFs to happen. :D

AbaRanger started the whole "super mode for the whole team" idea which spread in to DekaRanger, MagiRanger, Boukeranger or whatever, and GekiRanger. Other than that, it simply rehashed previous ideas (evil Ranger, dinosaur theme, a lot of interchangable zords ala GaoRanger).

DekaRanger was a TimeRanger ripoff.

MagiRanger was actually pretty original, and it showed in the ratings. Something I think Kamen Rider Wizard is playing off now, with the whole "greek/magic" theme.

Really? I would think that 2 dinosaur based series getting figures would clutter the line and Zyu would be put off of SHFs...

Okay, I haven't seen much of Timeranger (but from what I've heard Time Force was more or less the same) but this seems a little harsh. Timeranger is a "serious" scifi futuristic police show, while Deka is a mostly comedic futuristic police show which is mostly a send-up of cop/police shows. They had similar themes, but Deka was no more a rip off than Aba would be of Zyu.

Was Go-Busters not a pretty big risk-taker? And it's completely failed in ratings(As much as I love it.), so I can see why they would want to use a really popular theme for the next Sentai.
