What..? From my experience it's totally the other way round, with cartoons so censored now most action shows lose all purpose.

I dunno, I think he should've said "early 2000's" because I deffinitely agree we're moving back to more story-focused and less cop-outish shows. (sometimes that can backfire, though) But the 90's had tons of awesome shows that pushed the bounderies.

Yeah we're starting to have a resurgence of great shows, which I put down to the fact that most of the 90s kids are now growing up and having children, so networks are making shows for them to share with their children.

But the early noughties was a terrible, terrible time for Western kids programming. I would say it is probably the dark age, depending on how you feel about all the general cheap, thrown together shit we got in the 80s.
