To have the utter gall to tell me to not watch it because I'm not giving it complete and blind praise is probably the most single minded things I've read. My issues don't stem from disdain or hatred, but disappointment. I can clearly see the potential, and I'm disappointed because they make terrible decisions. Oh, but every word out of my mouth isn't rampant love and praise, so I should stop trying to enjoy it? Bite me. Rename the forum to properly fit what you want to see posted or I'm going to continue voicing my issues concerning the series as per the word "Discussion" allows. /Yes. I'm angry. |

"This show is shitty, because of -insert reason here-." Don't misunderstand this though, you are entirely entitled to your own opinion of the show as it is this, your opinion and how you personally feel of the show. The difference however, is that as a fan of it. I feel almost attacked, because at some point you have watched every single episode of this show since it began, to proceed to post here and whine about how much you dislike this show. By episode 4, we understood how much you dislike this show, and have an astute disinterest in this series, and do not like it. The problem is, at a certain point enough is enough. You do not like Kyoryuger, and this has been made quite evident of 40 + posts of your dislike and disinterest. It is time for you to move on from this show, like you probably should have done 30 + episodes ago. I am not trying to attack you in this situation. But, at some point it makes me wonder, "Why do you bother with this show." if you don't like it so much? |

I know it's a hard concept to believe, but it's the truth. I dropped GoBusters because I didn't like it. I dropped Sun Vulcan because I didn't like it. I dropped Boukenger because I didn't like it. I dropped Faiz because I didn't like it. I drop series, currently airing or not, all the time. But not having a purely positive opinion on a series does not mean I'm bitching over it. Criticizing shows you don't like do nothing because you're already biased. It's why I don't constantly post about my issues with GoBus or Bouken (I poke fun at Sun Vulcan being boring, but I use that as a joke rather than an actual criticism). I didn't stick with Kyoryuger for 45 episodes just to bring my ire and troll, and I'm not going to watch the remaining X episodes just to start bitching and moaning. |

Not all characters need to change over the course of a story. This is a lesson I learned from watching Doctor Who and reading super hero comics. To illustrate my point: The Doctor rarely changes or grows as a character over the course of a story. Instead, he acts as a catalyst that inspires growth and change in those around him. That's why Moffat and others have said that Doctor Who is actually a show about the companion -- because the companion is the one going through an observable character arc. (A couple quotes from Moffat: "We don't often do good character episodes for the Doctor. He's usually the one who catalyses other people's big emotional moments. We never see him when he's alone, he's always with his human friends." And, "Well, in a way, Doctor Who is almost more the story of the companion. It’s her take on the Doctor. It’s the adventure that she goes on with the Doctor. That’s the story that we tell. The companion changes more than the Doctor ever does.") I think super heroes like Batman act in a similar way. His revolving crew of supporting cast members are allowed to go through drastic character changes while Batman stays more-or-less the same. His heroic certainty and dedication provide inspiration for the characters who surround him. They go off to bigger and better things, while Batman sticks around in Gotham and gathers new companions who he inspires in similar ways. Getting back to Kyoryuger, I think Daigo plays a similar role in that series as The Doctor and Batman play in their own. He's delivered to us as a pre-packaged, perfect, sparkling hero -- someone to look up to -- and that perfect heroism inspires change and growth in the other members of the team. I feel like this is emphasized best in the episode where all the Kyoryugers have to face their flaws to elevate their powers -- but Daigo can't access those powers because he has no flaws. So yeah, while I do think you have a point in Daigo not really changing much, and I respect that that sort of character doesn't resonate with you -- I think he still serves an important, deliberate part in the series' overall narrative arc. |

One thing I enjoyed was God Deboss. I like the butterfly motifs, and the colors work awesomely. He's what I always hope to get in the final Big Bad. Amazing epic ultimate badassery.

Not being a Doctor Who fan, I can't really comment, but to bring it over to the Batman statement, I agree, and that's the very same issue. Batman when placed in the hands of someone who doesn't understand what makes the character interesting (See Frank Miller) is an infallible god who can do no wrong. And that's exactly where my ire with Daigo stems. Daigo is written with little flaw while simultaneously still having all the spotlight on him, so not only are we following a character with no flaws, we also get little real input from the other Kyoryugers to properly counter and act as foils to him. I can see Daigo as being less of a character and more of a catalyst for others, but they fumble that attempt, having other members of the team act in that space instead. Torin could better be used as an example as a character who serves as a catalyst for the others, helping in both Utchy's and Souji's arcs. |

I think Kyoryuger handles Daigo a lot like Doctor Who handles The Doctor. The Doctor typically gets the vast majority of the screen time and focus -- but the heart of the narrative lies squarely in the companion, who changes as a result of The Doctor's influence. It's my opinion that Riku Sanjo is handling the character-type well, though admittedly sometimes better than others. |
Matrix, seriously, no one wants to forbid you to state your opinion, and it's perfectly fine if you give criticism at some point (I just did so myself before that whole discussion started), but the point in this discussion is that you have stated your opinion like a thousand times before. We understood you don't like Daigo, but you know, he won't change no matter how much you complain. Why? Because the writers don't give a shit what we fans outside of Japan want or do not want and because Sanjo has already finished. Daigo won't change anymore, so why bother complaining all the time about something we have no influence in?
It's okay to state your opinion, but it is really tiring to read the same argument over and over again for no good reason. |

"There's nothing we can do to change it, so we should just fall to our knees and worship the series because all criticisms are pointless. Why bother speaking ill of it when we are, ultimately, meaningless?" And don't try to say "That's not what I said," because, Quote:
The argument of "We can't change it, so we should just accept it" is a nebulous one that screams "Keep negative opinions to yourself." It's a defeatist stance that does nothing. Concerning my opinions about Daigo, you have to look at things from multiple perspectives, multiple angles. Why is baseless praise allowed with no consequences, but explained disdain treated as tedious? If you let Sentai praise Candirilla for the umpteenth time without trying to stop him, don't you dare try to call me out on my disdain towards Daigo again. It doesn't matter if you don't like seeing negativity, or if I'm getting repetitive concerning Daigo. If you want to play ref, you have to call both sides fairly. |
