What a train wreck. I 'get' what the director says he was going for, but it was so dark and so gritty that it turned simply watching it into a chore. These characters shared names with the Rangers and they looked like them, but it was missing elements that has made ANY Ranger series enjoyable to watch. If you want to take a more serious approach fine, but don't skew it so far that it makes your product unrecognizable from the source.

If they wanted to make a 'super-serious' film that you can't take seriously, then yes, they did just that.

As a stand alone film, I think it's very well directed. I think the special effects and cinematography was great. The acting was alright, but I like watching it.

If this was a stand alone feature and not a Power Rangers fan film then I would like it more. Sometimes don't work as dark and gritty. At least they didn't go for a horror movie route like Mortal Kombat Rebirth did.

You know what?

The first 40-or-so seconds look like a battle that happened long before MMPR started, like Zordon got the powers after the battle subsided and merged those powers with fossils or something.

If this was parody then why is it not funny? Parodies are meant to be funny? Calling this a parody would be like calling Mortal Kombat Rebirth a parody. It takes it's self way too seriously in order for it to be a parody.

Fully agree. I commend the production values of this piece, but I am generally against reaction-inducing pieces, and I feel this is one of them. Well, it has succeeded in eliciting a reaction, then. :D

But really, I do find some of the reactions of the general media, about how this was what Power Rangers was meant to be, kind of depressing.

Because humans are flawed?

I tried to watch this but Poe's Law hit me pretty hard. It just was too grimdark without any real style or flair and its connections to PR are shallow.

I understand Hollywood is too fond of black, than it's creatively bankrupt and most of what it spews is black and meaningless in the long run but my Glob this is horrible.

Memo to all fan film makers: While it's tempting try not to paint everything with colors darker than black. The sensible fans will thank you.

the fights where ok. liked the rocky vs. tommy

but the whole time watching i was trying to figure out how this had any thing to do with power rangers at all except names and colored suits

the energy shield for the dragon shield was a nice take though
