I'm both excited and extremely mournful.
|
That premise has me kinda worried, but I still plan to see it the day it drops.

Very cautiously optimistic about this one.
I want it to be good, and it looks like it has a lot of production value in certain aspects. The story though uh... they are treading a thin line I feel and need to very careful. |
Apparently there have been some leaks floating around. Since they're not worth addressing, I won't even dignify them with a spoiler warning.

So the very plot point we were afraid of is ultimately gonna happen! It does appear as though it's not something that happened years ago with some unseen battle, but the end result is the same.
That being said, it's obvious that very few people are going to really notice or even care! https://comicbook.com/powerrangers/n...fan-reactions/ One thing worth noting is use of the words "kill" and "killed" which are decidedly uncommon in the franchise! They've been said before... kinda, but it's not frequent! If that's supposed to be the Mighty Minotaur and Snizzard (per the rumors), then those are extraordinarily different and fun! The Zord Sequence is definitely copied from Zyuranger to match the look and tone, but it's hard to peg that as just straight-up CGI. It almost looks like stop-motion animation was used, if only as a pre-production work guide. Will definitely see it cause it's definitely going to be one of the most significant crossovers in the franchise, but I get the feeling that you can only love it up to a certain point even if it is good and fun and nostalgic and popular! They clearly made a questionable choice here. I'm actually curious why so many classic actors signed-off on this as the right thing to come back for! |
Yeah, I noticed the 'subtle' plot-point.
As someone whose favourite Yellow Ranger growing up was Trini Kwan, seeing her get knocked off a cliff (if that's what's implied by the Rangers rushing over to the cliff just after Robo Rita blasted her) feels like my childhood received a massive roundhouse kick in the balls. I get that they needed to pay tribute to Thuy Trang, but this is not the way I would've wanted her character to go out. It reeks of a last-minute rewrite done to cover up an earlier draft (likely the one JDF received) and just feels wrong. Trini might not have been the deepest character or the most developed, but she deserved better than this. |
I find it ironic that Rita becomes a robot in order to take revenge on the rangers when it was actually the Machine Empire that sidelined her in the first place.

I talked about the possibility of Trini getting Kendrixed before, so as far as death scenes go, I think they're seriously trying to make this personal for the fans as much as the characters. I don't want to bite my tongue though, I'll have to see the execution of this plot. Quote:

I don?t mind Trini dying. I don?t get all the negativity surrounding this project.

I don't suppose there's a chance Bryan Cranston will be back to voice his most iconic role :p
