Just finished the series. Damn that ending was powerful...
But one thing that I would've changed, and I'm gonna make a lot of people vexed with this, is have Gai and Imperer show up in the ending montage(don't care much for Scissors, the only thing I think he could do is look out the window of his shop and glare angrily at the happy people). I could totally see Imperer sucking to Shinji and trying to get money from him, or Gai doing something illegal and/or immoral, and when Shinji passes by he asks why he's doing that and Gai replies "because it's fun" or something like that. Or Gai could just be a dick. :p
