Wow, these suits are looking pretty fire! I wish the youtube video was a little less compressed, the details are hard to make out. That said, I like that the black undersuit is doing a lot of work in each design, it lets those big metallic bits really pop out. Kinda getting mid-late Heisei Era Rider vibes, but they are also leaning heavy on the shoulder armor, which i think to your average MMPR fan will give Green Ranger vibes. One even looks maybe stylized after the Gold Zeo Ranger?

Beyond liking the suits, I have so many questions.

It seems like some people think these are forms, but the way its edited or shot at times kinda suggests multiple characters, and i feel the iconography is subtly different on each suit in a way that doesn't say form change to me.

It kinda seems liek a variation on the classic 3 space sherrifs, but they kinda said they weren't doing that, and the show is called Gavan, so I have to wonder what these other 2 are. They certainly aren't R.E.D.

Lastly, I found it interesting that they flashed "HERO?" on the screen at one point. Beyond the feeling that Gavan will be an Antihero, I get the impression that if these are 3 characters, they will somehow be rivals or in conflict. I also get the impression they want to buck the rider tropes and go for something resembling Space Opera and maybe even Harder Sci-fi, so I suspect this won't be the classic "3 guys with different views on justice bond over a shared enemy and commitment to growth" type of multi-rider story. I'm not opposed to those but we've had plenty.

That seems to be deliberate. Toei are showing just enough to get us excited while also hungry for more. The next reveal is on December 25th, which everybody knows is Christmas, so that seems deliberate as well (it'll cheer us up after somebody tragically dies in Zeztz).

Yeah, I think these are different Chou Uchuu Keiji. Logically, I don't see the point of making a big deal about the main hero being red only to give him a bunch of non-red forms. As RED should inherit the spirit of Sentai, not Rider, the most I would expect is something like Ryusoulger's power-ups.

Now that we have a clear picture of Gavan Infinity, I think it's awesome! Some people were worried that a red Gavan would look too much like Sharivan, but I think he has a decent balance of red and silver to make him distinct. The transparent chest design is also way more of a Gavan thing. As for the helmet, it gives me a modern Bioman and Flashman feeling!

There was a lot of conflict within the Space Police organization in the Next Generation Uchuu Keiji and Space Squad movies and most severely that one time where Retsu tried to save the universe by blowing up Earth in SHWZ. If we can't even trust the morality of the OG Gavan, then who can we trust? Should be intriguing to see how the motivations clash.

Let's not talk about SHWZ. Retsu was WILDLY out of character there, but that's Yonemura and Shirakura's M.O.

I agree, not only do the suits feel like separate identities, it just makes sense as far as differentiating it from Rider and keeping some semblance of Sentais multi-hero dynamic

Interesting, yeah i've been considering going back and watching some of the Space Sherrif stuff. It definitely seems like we will have some quarrels between our protags.

Then let us hope Yonemura isn't writing this time. Looks likely that Shirakura will be producing, but I don't mind that so much, there are worse options.

I might get to the OG trilogy sometime this decade. I plan to watch the rest of Exceedraft, Juspion and Metalder and then I'll check it out. With Toei moving towards an international audience, it'll be cool to see more people becoming Metal Hero fans.

I will say, though, Yonemura seems to excel comparatively as a writer in the field of anime. Tokusatsu just isn't the right fit for him, apparently.

Reasons to see the three shows you pointed out:
* Exceedraft, the prequel to Squid Orphnoch before he became Squid Orphnoch. :lolol
* Juspion, the show where a Metal Hero rocked a kick-ass afro before Nossan/Kyoryu Blue did. (Which, this is a personal theory, I think the staff were hooked on Ideon at one point and decided "We like Ideon, so let's have our protagonist look like Cosmo from Ideon and give him a sweet afro".)

* Metalder, the Detonator Orgun to Kikaider's Space Knight Tekkaman.

Then let us hope Saban Brands doesn't attempt to dub his works ever again.

Yeah, I remember you saying that. Up to Episode 28 right now and I think Hayato's a pretty good and balanced protagonist. He's like a medium between his two direct predecessors in the sense that he can be either rational or emotional depending on the situation.
