Shout Factory tweeted about it. I'm not sure if that's an indication that Gavan Infinity will be streamed like Zeztz, but I think there's a better chance for it.

At that time IPs weren't as massive as the star power of a celebrity, and many corporations, even domestic ones, were licensing out their IPs to syndication or competitive networks. Now we are knee deep into the 21st century and China is a growing superpower, and Japan is a strong regional power with global soft power. The MCU has completely changed the perspective on IP consolidation (noting the messiness of spreading out IPs to competitors like Hulk to Universal Studios, and Spider-Man to Sony Pictures). The internet has completely changed how international distribution works. Streaming has also created a bubble of IP consolidation and leading to corporations merging to stay afloat. Every other adaptation of a Toei toku property has failed, allowing Toei to consolidate their properties and have greater control over their IPs when trying to market them abroad. The only hold out in this consolidation is Super Sentai. Since Hasbro holds the licensing rights to Power Rangers and permits them to create rangers and teams without using Sentai footage, this puts Toei in a bind because 1) they cannot market Super Sentai to North America even if its a season not yet adapted, and 2) Toei loses necessary funding for their Super Sentai productions from the licensing fees charged to use Sentai footage to adapt it to Power Rangers. Thus not only do they lose a vital market to sell their IP to, they have a reduced budget for Sentai going forward. With Sentai on the decline and losing licensing sales Toei had no choice but to cancel Super Sentai for the time being. While Power Rangers is not the only reason why Super Sentai got put on ice for the time being, it is a factor that cannot be ignored. |
You know, it occurred to me that this new project is probably bad news for new heroines. Sentai always had to inlcude at least one, but Kamen Rider is inconsistent with them and there's no guarantee we'll get any in whatever RED is.

https://news.tokunation.com/wp-conte...Zeztz-Cast.jpg Also, every Rider show during Reiwa had at least one female Rider so far...? Maybe aside from Gavv, I actually don’t know if Jiip counts. Probably not. |

Yeah I know it is just rumors so far, but it sounds likely that Gavan Infinity is going to have a male-female hero duo. So I'm not too worried about female hero representation getting worse due to Project R.E.D., especially given we haven't had two female Sentai team members since Kiramager.
I'm not holding my breath for the possibility of a woman as the protagonist anytime soon though, even if I think it would be nice. The lead role doesn't always get the most focus in these shows anyways, so I'm not sure it matters much beyond the optics of things. |
