I enjoyed the Bulk jokes, too. Was funny. The rest was kind of bland, though. It was kind of obvious that there was nothing to talk about, just relaying the events of every episode with little to input on.

Yeah. Plus, Lewis was kinda right. Samurai is not a good season, but it's not nearly as shit as we once thought and many of its problems aren't really all it's fault. Plus, yeah it did well enough with kids so it was a success in that regard.

Now to have a fun little Christmas present with a scathing bash of Megaforce: The Season That Had About As Much Good Ideas Put Into It As A Barney The Dinosaur Dakimakura.

Man, lots of fun Angry Linkara moments in this. I loved his rants against Ji and all the Rangers being dicks to Lauren. :lol

I didn't watch more than, like 5 episodes, so I don't know if it stayed as dull as the opening. Good to know I don't need to waste time to find out :lol

It's fine that it was a hit with their target demographic, I just wish it wasn't so...Dull.

And even further than i got, i think i only watched Clash of the red rangers.

Spent a good deal of time on the Youtube page going over how much I hated what Samurai chose to keep form Shinkenger, when they couldn't actually keep what made them good while doing so.

I knew Linkara wasn't gonna have a lot to talk about, but he still made it worth watching. Much more excited for Megaforce, which will hopefully give him more to talk about.

I was sad he didn't tear into it more, but in hindsight it isn't the worst season/seasons. That's still held by Operation Overdrive and Mega/Super Megaforce. This did help me realize that Lauren had the most character development and actually had a personality. She was only in 5 episodes. Oh and also he did kind of glaze over the fact that Guinea Pig Sensei/Lothor from Ninja Storm was the keeper of the Black Box. I seriously can't wait to see how Linkara will tear apart the last 2 seasons.

I think most people hate Samurai for being a poor copy & past of Shinkenger. If you view Samurai & Super Samurai as their own shows and not adaptation then they are not too bad.

Pretty good review. Never watched past the first six episodes of Samurai, but WOW, Mentor Ji is terrible as a mentor.

I just can't wait for Linkara to tear Megaforce a new one this Christmas. Hell, I sent him a tweet a year ago saying how he would change his tune with Megaforce while he was watching Operation Overdrive for his review on it, and he simply responded by saying that he was watching Megaforce, and said that it was still better than Operation Overdrive.

You think he'll mention that tweet when he gets to Megaforce? :D I'm trying to find the tweet in question right now.

To a certain extent that is true, but not completely. Personal Opinion follows.

Select Cons: Serrator's betrayal makes no since if his efforts are just to flood the Earth, Sharkjaw (from the RPM Red teamup) is never seen again, Sergeant Tread (also from the RPM Movie) is never shown to enlarge like most, the Mega Modes make little since and were never used in battle like they should've been, the Light Megazord should have been given a better backstory and name, Maldan and the "blaster-firing" Mooger Army is agonizing to listen to as they were definitely trying to stretch the whole "this ain't a bullet-firing gun, it's a laser-firing blaster" point with weak dialogue, the Shark Zord is NOT a shark, and I'm not saying a thing about Bulk and Spike.

Select Pros: Despite their mishandling, the Mega Modes and the Shogun Mode are not terrible looking, I am happy they used the Movie villains and wish this would carry over still, "The Strange Case of the Munchies" is one of their better entries, and it's always good to see Bulk AND Skull.

I think that was before "Blitzing New Powers" happened though.

I finally watched it and I don't agree with everything he said. I saw hints of Green and Yellow getting together during the series. On the other hand, every issue he had with the series is the same issues I have with it and Shinkenger. Namely the boring as hell villains. Dokoku/Xandread is by far one of the worst main villains to ever appear on screen in a Sentai/PR series. He is just so boring and does nothing.

On the other hand, his jokes were hilarious, especially the wheel of morality one from Animaniacs. That was awesome. Jii is definitely an asshole and had no reason to deny Antonio the use of HIS OWN homemade morpher.

I'm glad this came out on a day when I had nothing better to do than watch Linkara get increasingly angry at this show for three hours. :lol

I honestly have to disagree with one of his main points, though: this show was much worse than Operation Overdrive. That show was terrible, but at least it tried and failed to do something interesting. Megaforce, especially in season two, made absolutely no effort in any regard. I've been waiting to see Linkara tear into it and boy, was it worth the wait (especially that bit in part 5 when Robo Knight just randomly shows up alive again).

Watching all of this also makes me want to rewatch Gokaiger. We'll see if anything comes of that impulse.

For a season he sees as not as bad as OO, he seemed to have raged a lot more than he did in HOPR OO.

I had no idea Megaforce was such hot garbage. I knew it was bad, but ho-boy. I'm not even finished and it's still apparent how uttley doomed by laziness this was.

As I've said before:

"Samurai and Overdrive may continue to fight for "Who Sucks More" but they cannot hold the mantle of "Worst."
Megaforce is the worst. For there is no direction, humanity, development, humor or purpose. A botched story or a Copy/Paste is still a story, but if you haven't any story at all, you cannot achieve anything."

You know, if SMF was a full season of 40-50 episodes, they could've done so much. Fan theory of Rangers from other nations could be fulfilled by the Dairangers from China. Established rangers from other planets could be filled in by the Flashmen and that other team of Sentai rangers that were actually aliens.
They could've actually justified the Sentai only rangers with brief histories.

Instead, we got whatever the hell SMF was trying to be. Shame. I'm really glad Dino Charge isn't Go-Busters and Kyoryuger.

It makes me breath a sigh of relief that I didn't watch more than, like, 2 episodes of Megaforce and the Legend scene of Super Megaforce :lol

Gotta say, he gave Megaforce the bashing I had hoped for, and more. :) Congrats to him on completing HOPR for now.

The part where Robo Knight shows up in "Legendary Battle" had me cracking up at Linkara's reaction to it. Poor guy.

And I agree, Megaforce is a LOT WORSE than Operation Overdrive. At least with Operation Overdrive, they only had to adapt one Sentai, whereas Megaforce had to adapt TWO. So far we don't know if Go-Busters will still be adapted at all for Dino Supercharge, but something tells me that it won't. This is rather contrary to what Linkara said about Saban having some sort of contract with Toei to not skip a season of Super Sentai, because if Saban can skip Go-Busters and go straight to Kyoryuger, then they really SHOULD have skipped Gokaiger altogether.

Gokaiger would have never worked for a season of Power Rangers anyway. So much of that Sentai was celebrating the then-35th anniversary of the series, and while the idea of a team of Rangers that can morph into previous teams of Rangers would have been the best idea for adapting into Power Rangers, what we got wasn't what anyone would have wanted. Super Megaforce was the result: A poorly-written, ugly, Frankenstein's monster of a season of Power Rangers that will no doubt go down as one of the worst seasons in the 22 years that this show's been on the air, if not THE worst.

Wow, I only saw a few episodes of this series, but I never want to watch it. Those were awful. WTF are they going to focus on Sentai powers when they didn't even bother doing anything with actual Power Rangers series?

I love when he starts getting really pissy in part 3 and then when he just pulls out the gun in the live bits in the fifth part after Robo Knight returned.

One thing I was hoping he would have commented on though was how the black ranger's fighting style changed when he became the green ranger.

To be fair though, that didn't happen until Go-Busters bombed toy-wise. Toei and Bandai likely stepped in and someone somewhere encouraged someone else to skip the series because there were doubts it could sell toys. And the current scuttlebutt is that Saban may skip another season to catch up if Toei allows it.

On the contrary, a Gokaiger adaptation would have worked perfectly fine if they got their damn priorities straight. Why force in the Gokaiger suits when they could have stuck with Goseiger and just used cards and gotten the mechs? Why waste their budget on superfluous stuff when it could have gone to things like getting more actors in for tribute episodes? Etc, etc, etc.

Would it have actually been good? Who knows? With these actors, it probably would have been okay at best, but that's still better than the crap Megaforce and Super Megaforce ended up being.

I think Linkara hit the nail on the head for this series.

The overall series felt lazy. Incredibly lazy. Though, he gushed over how Jason Smith was so great in his tribute episode because he wrote it - he forgot to mention that Jason Smith also wrote a majority of the "New Powers!" episodes, whether he was told to or did it on his own, who knows, but his being a fan of Super Sentai would lead one to assume that it may have been Jason who talked Tzachor in to it instead of Tzachor wanting to include it.

Either way - it made me realize my problems with Dino Charge - that the end of season 1 has made the series feel like it's returning to the same problems that plagued Samurai and Megaforce - including things "just because" with little to no explanation as to why. Basically, allowing the series and the footage to dictate the story instead of creating the story on your own.

Dino Charge created a story but then allowed the footage available from Kyoryuger to direct the story (for things like new Zords, etc.) instead of continuing the process of making Kyoryuger fit in to Dino Charge's story.

IE - Dino Charge started making Kyoryuger fit its narrative, but the season ended with Dino Charge fitting the Kyoryuger footage instead.

Aw, I just started Dino Charge, too...It seriously degrades during S1 already? Dammit...

Well it is not that bad, but it still does lose some of the fun it had. It really starts to borrow plot points because footage and contradicts itself with the whole energy thing and I hope that Super Charge fixes some of these problems. We didn't need a male purple ranger, nor did we need to skip aqua or have purple introduced this season. I just hope Chip didn't start to lazy out and is saving these explanations for next season, but I doubt it. He even said in a interview that details we thought they missed was going to get covered later on.

It is a tad disappointing that they're feeling a need to ram in stuff simply because some Kyoryu footage had it...Damn...

Personally, I don't get why they didn't use the 200 Rangers movie footage as the premier of the show. THey could have easily had that a group of rangers with pirate powers come to Earth and they sacrifice themselves to defeat Vrax, leaving their powers behind for Troy and gang to use.

I don't think they're allowed to use movie footage, which is why team up episodes of the past was always original stuff.

Not always the case, I think. I'm pretty sure the Lost Galaxy and Light speed team up used footage from it's sentai movie counterpart.
