This is kind of another example of you projecting this ridiculous notion that you know or feel exactly what is or isn't cannon with any given franchise and that everyone else is wrong. In this case they aren't. The Empire had published materials about them coming out for over 30 years detailing various things they did after Return of the Jedi ended. Novels, games, comics, all OFFICIALLY sanctioned by Lucasfilm and recognized for that span of time. Their history stretched hundreds of years after Return of the Jedi as well. Even before Disney & Marvel wiped the expanded universe out, the Empire existed. And clearly they exist now in a new film. They have always been around after ROTJ and will apparently continue to be around to some extent. So frankly no one cares what you see, it isn't a correct point of view. It isn't even an opinion, it's just wrong. |
New info revealed via retro trading cards courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. It's character names, not spoilers, so don't fear plot point revelation.

Oh, f#ck you too. :lolol But seriously, it looks great in motion, reminds me of those theorteical cars that would run on a ball instead of wheels. |

Yeah its really great that such a thing can actually work and makes me want to see what else they did with a real prop instead of cgi. |

Interesting. Last I heard this was a difficult proposition since Fox still has the distribution rights for the films. I'm guessing Disney just threw money at them until they agreed. Works for me and count me in for a set.

Whoa, that sounds awesome. I knew from day one this is something Disney would want to do. :D The question now is, which version is the canonical one?

I gotta be honest, I may dislike some of what's in the Special Editions, but I own them. I got them as Christmas gifts on Blu-Ray last year. While there's definitely stuff in there I don't like, I also grew up in the 90's when the special editions were originally released in theaters. So I kind of get the feels for them even with all the added stuff. I really can't say I'd be that interested owning the non-special versions.

I had the gorgeous Definitive Editions on LD up until six years ago when I had to get rid of everything I owned. I never picked up any of the changed editions on DVD or BluRay, so these will be welcome if the story is legit. |
I own the only slightly edited versions. Its mainly little stuff like some background bits so really I'm fine with what I have. Granted i also don't own a blu ray player so yeah.

Did you guys ever talk about Revenge of the Sith and Attack of the Clones being in 3D at Star Wars celebration?
Do you think that we'll see 3D blu-rays of the prequels sometime later? |
Maybe? I doubt the 3D would be all that great though.
|
I honestly don't care for 3D.
But I assume at some point they'll get out. Anybody checked issue 1 of the new marvel book? Also, why do we never talk Rebels here? That show is great! |
I'm resurrecting this thread with Jar Jar Binks.

Recently rewatched all six films with my girlfriend (who was seeing them for the first time). Hunted down the despecialised versions of the original trilogy because I refuse to watch them any other way, and I'm really impressed with the level of effort behind them. The remastering is incredible.
As for the prequels...well. Strangely I have something of a soft spot for Phantom Menace for being caught up in all the hype for it as a child, so I get a kick out of it despite the numerous problems. Attack of the Clones is still BY FAR my least favourite of them, and Revenge of the Sith is really good until it starts getting a bit dumb at the end (Padme losing the will to live more than the "nooooo"). Was particularly nice watching that one, as I don't think I'd ever seen it a second time. Probably is, now I'm thinking about getting more of the Figuarts than just Vader when they're released. Sigh... |

the Prequels came out just too early for me to be interested in them. I watched them probably a couple of years after Revenge came out, along with the original Trilogy, and they were all pretty cool. I have to agree with Clones being the worst- at least Phantom has Darth Maul and Liam "Qui Gon" Neeson |
I saw this on Toyark and I thought this was awesome!
