Cardiff Bay used pretty uninteresting, but they did it up not long before Doctor Who came back and it's a really nice place now. The advertising clearly helped too :lol
I don't know if it's still there, but there used to be a wall that was just filled with tributes to Ianto from Torchwood following Children of the Earth. Not quite sure if that's awesome or just a testament to how crazed fans can get. |
Surprised no-ones posted anything about the new episode yet. Let me say this to start-they really are chucking in the references to the old series. Especially with Metebelis Three. On another note, I thought the episode was pretty good, until it turned into a monster 'love' story. That ruined it. But next weeks looks good. I'm a sucker for anything to do with the TARDIS-it's the reason I bought the Invasion of Time, only to find out the interior was a hospital and why 'The Doctor's Wife' will always be my first episode to recomend from Series 6
|
Was a pretty good episode, even if at times it did feel like a contemporary "The Unquiet Dead". Like Akibasilver I liked the classic series referencing, and the I liked that it wasn't one without a bad guy. Made it a bit more interesting to watch.
Next week's looks very interesting. |

Overall it was another pretty decent episode. Not stand-out but not bad either. I look forward to next week's. |
Oh yeah it was a much better episode, I just found myself drawing a lot of parallels like I did with "Dalek" last week :lol
Thankfully it shook the similarities off just over halfway through. |
i enjoyed it quite a bit. i do enjoy the older who reference's and i swear he referenced the movie saying the eye of harmony was giving the contraption they use power.
|
The Eye of Harmony has been around longer than the movie, but yeah that was the first time it was stated to be the heart of the TARDIS.

Double Post. Sorry!
S1 Ep 12- Bad Wolf: 11/6/05 The Doctor gets zapped into Big Brother where he discovers that his actions may not always lead to brilliant results. Plot We start with the Doctor falling into the Big Brother house, where he immediately sees someone evicted, and by evicted, we mean 'killed'. Rose ends up on 'The Weakest Link', and soon, after a hilarious first round, discovers the same thing, while Jack gets naked on 'What Not To Wear'. The Doctor soon escapes the house along with Lynda (it has a 'Y') when evicted. It is revealed to him that he is on the Bad Wolf station, AKA Satellite 5, which the Doctor shut down 100 years ago. Turns out taht, with no news, people start inventing evil game shows. The Doctor realises that, if he ended up in the game, he needs to find Rose before she dies. He teams up with Jack, who escaped by pilling out a pistol he had on him (while naked?) and his new gun, built out of the defabricator. They arrive at thge studio just to see Rose get zapped. Great timing! Upon being arrested, they immediately escape and go up to floor 500, where we meet the controller-a pale woman wired into the systems. Jack finds the TARDIS in archive 5 (it's out of bounds) and works it all out- the disintegrator 'killing beam' is actually a transmat (teleport in non-technobable). A solar flare hits, and the Controller starts talking to the Doctor, and gives him co-ordinates. The Solar Flare passes, but she keeps talking about her masters and gets transmatted. The Doctor cameras the location, and it turns out to be empty. Until he stops the concealing signal, when a Dalek ship is revealed. Many Dalek ships. 1000 Dalek ships. The Daleks contact the Doctor and the Doctor gives a BADASS speech, and goes into spoilers. The episode ends with thousands of CGI-Daleks swarming into space. Overall this episode is enjoyable, with a fast-paced plot and some dramatic moments (Rose being shot). 8/10 Characters This episode isn't really built for character development, being the first of a two parter, but shows how devastated the Doctor can be when his companions 'die', and how vengeful he can get. 5/10 Scare Factor Nothing that scary. The controller being exterminated is a small bit, but is easily overlooked. 4/10 Bad Wolf Watch- The Bad Wolf Station Overall This is an enjoyable, fast-paced episode with a lot going for it. Plus it's the series finale, which is always worth a watch. Tune in next time for the epic conclusion. (we promise it will be action packed and not half about a woman pining). 8/10 |
Here's an obscure fact for Who fans:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...2061.667215132 The Lost Galaxy colony was headed for Gallifrey. :P |
Had to do some catching up, so I've marathoner the past three episodes. Cold War was alright, big like Alien but on a submarine. The ghost one I really enjoyed, was a neat spin on ghost stories and it had pocket dimensions and other timey wimey stuff. I liked Clara's little spiel about everyone being ghosts to the doctor, that was pretty neat.
And then the journey episode was pretty good, shame about the time line reset ending though but definitely had some nice teases and fan service. The series definitely seems to be picking up the pace after it stumbled at the starting line =] |
Gotta say, the latest episode was pretty solid. It provided an appropriately surreal adventure for an episode that delves into the heart of the TARDIS. I enjoyed catching some of the references to the past as well, and Clara has fully won me over as a companion.
However, I must groan at the preview for the next episode, knowing that Madame Vastra and Jenny are returning. I know they're popular but I find them horribly forced on. |
Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS has certainly been my favourite episode of the half-season so far. Interesting setting, some nice little nods and the Doctor not afraid to make threats was good to see (even if he was bluffing).
That said it still wasn't perfect - the monsters' identities were really predictable, the scavenger characters were completely superfluous and the reset was a bit of a cop out. I can see the Doctor's name plot point has started to rear its head for the finale too :rolleyes Still, a good episode nonetheless and the most enjoyable contemporary-Clara has been thus far. Can't wait for next week and the return of Vastra, Jenny and Strax. |
I'm excited that we're inching closer to my most anticipated episode, the Cybermen one. I hope I don't overhype it, but the promise of a return to the awesomeness of the Classic Cybermen is amazing!
|
I'm actually really enjoying Part two of Season 7 so far, a lot more than most of the Moffat led Who.
I though the episode on the Submarine was the worst episode so far, and the opening episode had a huge 'meh' factor but both Hide and the Journey episodes were pretty good, if not as good as they could be and I absolutely loved the Rings episode. As far as Clara goes, I have a huge crush on the actress which probably helps me enjoy her character more. I always struggled with Amy because I wasn't as smitten with her as the...rest of the world and so when the show started becoming the amazing Amy show with her Doctor companion I couldn't stand it. What I will say though is, is that despite them trying to make Clara really interesting, the Journey episode just reduced her to a short skirt and a pair of legs and I found that rather annoying. Although her legs are lovely. |
Finally watched Journey into the Centre of the TARDIS, and it was one of the better episodes. A first real look at some of the hidden rooms deep in the TARDIS herself. What the brothers did to their youngest kin was alot messed up. Especially just to cure boredom. And I think Clara really branched out in this one. And it was lovely seeing the Doctor threaten again. I like an angry Doctor, he does his best work pissed off.
Also pissed at myself I flaked on the Tom Baker Who Special. |
Have any of you guys heard Chameleon Circuit. A friend told me about it a couple ofd days ago and I just now checked it out. They;re songs are pretty good and worth a listen. Meanwhile, Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS. Best episode of Series 7 Part2 so far. Like I mentioned earlier, I'm a sucker for the TARDIS but I this was really good. Did anyone else think Vashta Nerada when Clara was in the library? Also, isn't the eye of ahrmony a black hole? With Omega on the other side?

Again, double post. Again, sorry! :o
S1 E13- The Parting of the Ways: 18/06/05 The Doctor goes to rescue Rose from the Daleks, but faces an impossible choice... Plot Continuing on from last episode, the Doctro and Jack fly the TARDIS (through SPACE!) to save Rose. This act of selflessness earns them missiles, which they dodge with a shiel form the extrapolator from two episodes ago. (Hooray for MacGuffins!). They arrive on the Dalek ship, materialising over Rose and a Dalek. It dies. They step out, protected by the shield, and meet the Emperor Dalek. It turns out he created all the Daleks from transmatted humans, with only 1 cell in a billion fit to be cultured into a Dalek. (That means approx 50-100 cells per person). They are insane-more than usual-and have discovered religion, worshipping the Emperor as their God. Nine, Rose and Jack return to the Game Station as the Daleks begin their attack. Lynda is stationed as lookout to track the Daleks progress through the Game Station, while Jack forcefields the top 6 floors-the Daleks have to enter at floor 494 and go up. They quickly eliminate most of the Earth's surface and enter the Game Station. Meanwhile, Nine has com up with a plan - a Delta Wave, which vaporises peoples brains. However, he can't finish it fully in time, so it won't be able to tell human from Dalek. To make sure Rose stays safe, he sends her back to Earth in the TARDIS, using Emergency Program 1, which lock down the TARDIS and traps her on Earth. On Earth she moans about how the Doctor is dying/going to die in 198,095 years. They try using Mickey's car to open the Deus Ex Machina of the TARDIS, but it fails. Jackie comes along to discourage her, but Rose reminds her of what happened back in 'Father's Day'-how some random blonde held her fathers hand. And that was Rose. Jackie, in response, brings a pick up truck. Using this, they rip open the console, and Rose looks into the Time Vortex/Heart of the TARDIS. Speaking of them, they kill all the winners on Floor 0, Lynda with a 'Y', and then all the defenders. Even Jack! The Doctor finishes the Delta wave just as the Dalek's reach him. The Emperor taunts him, telling him he can either be a killer or a coward. He chooses "coward any day". The Daleks prepare to EXTERMINATE him, when we hear a familiar noise-the TARDIS materialising. The door opens and Rose is standing there, her eyes glowing. She pretty much instantly kills all the Daleks, spreads the words Bad Wolf through time, and then revives Jack. The Doctor goes up to her, and absorbs the time vortex radiation from her. They both stumble back into the TARDIS, leaving the newly reborn Jack behind. Wonder why? Then this happens: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNhBGgoWEgQ Yeah, the regeneration. I think it's handled really well. I like Nine. Overall, this episode is a really good season finale. It ups the ante and, although the Daleks were handled better in 'Dalek', it still shows them as a credible threat. This and Bad Wolf are worth a watch any day. 9/10 Characters This episode gives the Ninth Doctor a final bit of character development, showing that, while he may have finished the Time War, he won't harm an innocent species on purpose. Rose whines a lot, and Jackie stops being such a **** about the Doctor. 6/10 Scare Factor The Daleks have some scary moments, like exterminating everyone on Floor 0 and killing the defenders. 6/10 Bad Wolf Watch: Rose spreads the words through time Overall This episode is a fitting end to the Ninth Doctors tenure, and ends my review of series 1! (Cricket Sound) I really like this episode for its enjoyment factor and use of the Daleks. This ties into the Time War plot line and the Daleks don't seem overused yet. Anyway, tune in next time for a review of something almost 50 years old... |
Dodgy ending aside, I really like Parting of the Ways. That moment where Lynda with a y is killed by the Dalek and you can just see it flash "exterminate" with no sound is a brilliantly done scene.
The Emperor redesign was great too, coming from a time before they overused closeups of a Dalek mutant. |
New ep just ruled tonight... Diana Rigg FTW
|
Completely loved seeing Vastra, Jenny, and Strax again. Those three need their own Torchwood like series. Another great episode, and I loved every second. But I have been looking forward for next weeks.
I am a Cyberman Junkie. |

Watched the episode last night as I was a little behind and once again I am convinced Gatiss could run the show far better than Moffat. A fantastic episode, a little rushed around the edges but MUCH better than the majority of this half-season. I'm in agreement Vastra, Strax and Jenny need a spin off series but I'm not quite sure how it would work. They are sometimes a bit too adult for kids TV and a bit too kiddy for an adult show. Still, it needs to happen.
Next weeks should be great. I have faith in you Gaiman, but please don't ruin the episode with those kids. |
I wasn't expecting to like the episode but I did. It was a fun ride, and I think the blind girl, Ada, was a great character.
I'm also excited at the prospect of those two kids coming along as companions. That would shake up the usual formula a bit. Time to look forward to the Cyberman episode! Hope it doesn't disappoint. |

Also surprised everyone forgot about one of the best jokes in the episode this week. "Thomas Thomas" |
Personally The Crimson Horror was my least favourite episode of Part 2.
The Doctor was incompetent with none of that hidden intellect. Another week, another adventure where Clara just feels sorta tacked on for the Doctor to oggle rather than to do anything. The Scooby Gang are overhyped, unfunny and uninteresting. Wow she sounds like Mary Poppins and she is also a ninja! Wow she is a lizard and also gay! Wow it's funny because he's a fierce warrior manchild! No. I had no idea what the villains motivations were. Nothing had any build up or establishment. It was just blah. |
Quote:
But on the other hand, those kids were already really annoying for the 30 seconds they appeared in :lol |
Oh I didn't even mention those last thirty seconds!
Look at these poorly photoshopped images we found of you, Clara! Look at us try and act Clara! I'll tell everyone you're a time traveller Clara! Okay? You're a child so no one will believe you? Fuck it I'll take you with me despite the fact that the Doctor has gotten me almost killed on every adventure and you're small children and I'M A HEARTLESS MORON. |
Wow, angry much? :lol
Let's just suspend disbelief a little bit, nothing wrong with having kids be companions. It actually makes the dynamic more interesting, in my opinion. |
It only really annoys me because Clara started off really interesting way back when she was a Dalek, this continued until the last couple of episodes where she has had nothing to do other than to stand there and be oggled by the Doctor.
Then that last scene, in an episode that rendered her largely useless, also painted her as an utter moron and it's just frustrating. |
the only hate I could have for them kids was leaving that G1 Galvatron out in the kitchen...should have been up on a display shelf...
|
So, thoughts- best episode of this half of the series, possibly of the whole series! Strax, Jenny and Vastra are awesome, with Strax being hilarious. The Thomas Thomas joke was a bit forced but it was the only down side. Also, for anyone wondering why 'we'll tell our Dad' is a valid threat, this is the Whoniverse. The Earth has been constantly invaded and transported through time, and people are probably a lot more believing and wary of this. Plus, Clara may not want the Doctor's secret to get out. Also, Galvatron is the BOSS! Saturdays episode looks great, and with Neil Gaiman, well... lets just say that The Doctor's Wife is my favourite episode ever and leave it at that.

Apologies for the essay, I'm supposed to be writing one on the roles of gender in Science fiction novels but this seemed more fun and once I started I just went on =p
I like Clara... okay no, I just like looking at Miss Coleman. Ugh.. okay, I did like Clara in her first couple of appearances. She was clever, funny and challenged the doctor (whilst also being a challenge for the doctor, eg. what she is/how she exists) Since her true introduction though she's slowly faded into the background, might have a decent line every now and then but that's about it. The focus on her book in the first few episodes made it feel like she was going to be this awesome explorer or something with some dreams and ambition, but thats all been dropped and she seems to have an identity crisis with each new writer. Just my two cents... Latest episode was strange. I was really enjoying it , oddly enough, until the Doctor showed up. I think him being out of the game a bit longer would have helped, the bizarre old timey flashback/re-telling of the last 20 minutes but with the Doctor and Clara was, well bizarre and incredibly off putting. Mr Sweet was just ridiculous although I do think Diana Rigg still managed to play a fabulously batty villain that was just pure evil. The ending seemed a little forced/out of the blue. I just hope Clara questions the existence of victorian london her.. doubtful but we'll see. So I currently can't decide if I liked it or not... Lastly, I've probably not watched enough 'Who' but the 'this series will focus on this plot, but only for the first and last episodes with brief mentions in between' type of progression/arc is getting annoying. I know it'll probably get explained eventually, but everything else just feels like complete filler. |
Going through my guide over the next two weeks I came across the episode of the Doctor Who after Nightmare in Silver. And it has a very interesting Title and Description..
The Name of the Doctor. The Doctor's Greatest Secret Revealed! Could this finally be It? After fifty years, after eleven Doctors, could we finally find out his name? And could it please not be something lame like Max? Please Mister Moffat? I don't know if this is a Red Herring, and we'll never actually hear his name, or if they'll actually say what it is... But I'm excited! |
There are some things that should never be revealed. This is one of them.

To be honest I'm dreading the finale. It looks to encompass just about everything I hate about the Moffat era. |
