Picked up the movie Dredd when I saw it marked down a few days ago.
VERY impressive film; great action scenes and excellent world-building. Karl Urban does an amazing job as the title character. |

http://www.animenation.net/blog/wp-c...-announced.jpg I didn't like Angel. Why does she return? Apparently Lilo gets replaced. That sucks. http://i.imgur.com/vjfiwsd.jpg I never watched it because I was told it was meh, so I didn't know. |

Replacing Lilo? That's stupid. Yeah, I will probably never watch "Sutichu!" |

Except there's a tad more to that and it gets controversial at times so I will stop here. Also, how does this come across as an Anime? Is the style obviously Japanese now as compared to the American series? Or is it |
Wait so...is there a Lilo and Stitch cartoon and anime or just an anime? (I'm not talking about the films) because I remember growing up with a Lilo and Stitch animated series on Disney which was very well...American, so I'm just surprised if that is the anime.

I watched the first few episodes of the dub. It was okay.
Anyway, have I ever mentioned a movie called 3 Idiots? Because I really need to talk about it. 3 Idiots is the highest-grossing Bollywood film in history, and is arguably the best film Bollywood has ever produced. I have watched and rewatched on numerous occasions; in fact, I once watched it with two friends, one of whom was in California at the time, and they both enjoyed the film. It's a comedy that tells two stories—one that takes place in the present day, with two friends, Raju and Farhan (two of the three idiots), searching for the third idiot, Rancho, who they have been looking for in the past five years, with an old rival of his, Chatur "Silencer" Ramalingum; the other takes place ten years in the past and shows the story of the three idiots and how they met and interacted with one another in college for five years. There is a very pivotal twist involving Rancho that I have never seen done before in a film, and I will not spoil it here. The jokes are funny (even if you're not part of the intended culture of the audience), the musical numbers are well-choreographed and memorable, the acting is superb (Aamir Khan as Rancho is amazing, especially considering the fact that he was in his 40s at the time), and the aging of the characters is done quite nicely. Furthermore, given the recent trend of users being down in the dumps with life recently, it's an excellent film to lift spirits, and also provides wonderful insight about life. It's one of my favorite films, and I will watch it again and again (even if it is about three hours long). It can easily be found subbed on YouTube, and I highly recommend this film to everyone. I also watched Oz: The Great and Powerful yesterday. I liked it. James Franco sometimes stuck out like a sore thumb against the backgrounds, but I think that might have been the intention—to make it feel like an old-fashioned film with painted backgrounds. |

I'm still curious about the anime. Mostly because I want to see more Experiments that we never got in the American cartoon. |
Oh wow, I'm more intrigued now why they released a Lilo and Stitch anime only three years ago.
|
well what happened in the anime Lilo is mentioned in the First Epsiode by Jumba and sayign she has no Time with Stich no more due to she has a boy Friend meaning she in High School and more of a teenager so Stich cause havic in the atomospher of earth crash lands on Fantasy Japanese Island nad meets the new Girl and has to Learn and collect good deeds.

I'd be perfectly fine if the anime had been an AU but tying it to the original in that manner completely goes against the point of it. EDIT: Forgot to mention I went to see "This is the End" last night. I have to say I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to. |

So, I recently saw White House Down or Die Hard Goes to the White House. All things considered, I really quite enjoyed it. You can tell that it didn't try and take itself too seriously which worked out for the best.

Right Magiranger, Fiveman and GoGo-V? |
Went out and saw Monsters University earlier.
It wasn't bad but it was kinda soulless and predictable. Its hard to be invested in the plot when we already know from the first movie that NOTHING THEY DO HERE REALLY MAKES A DIFFERENCE. Still waiting for "Incredibles 2," Pixar! |
Watched Atlantic Rim, gets progressively worse but honestly for Z-Grade cinema it isn't ironic fun, it's actually enjoyable. I've noticed that Asylum really has been putting a lot more care and thought into their films lately and they have long since surpassed their criticisms as just being a rip off company.

It's a superhero movie! Those things are milked for all the sequels that they're worth and then some. Why not seize upon the opportunity and make big bucks on popular trends!? Pixar's owned by Disney. Disney owns Marvel. Marvel's superhero blockbusters get sequels. Disney likes money. It's just logical given the market for the genre! |
Disney doesn't want another Dreamworks problem on their hands by telling the writers and animators what to do, taking away their creative freedom and potentially causing them to quit.
That said, Incredibles 2, if made, better not focus on Jack-Jack. |

So saw Pacific Rim today and I've got to say it was worth the wait. This movie was freaking epic and i gotta say chain sword FTW.

I watched Assassination Games, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme
I was expecting an 80s-90s action flick, with a thin story/plot, silly/fun one liners, and lots of fun martial arts. It was not that. It was a serious story, with little martial arts (only one fight scene that I can think of), a few gun fights, very few one-liners, and those were pretty downplayed. The mood and tone of the film, and how I felt during and after seeing it, reminded me of Road to Perdition. I expected JCVD to not be a great actor in a serious role, but I think this worked. Maybe because he was portraying a cold, unfeeling, unemotional assassin, but I thought he pulled it off well. For not being at all what I was hoping to see when I put it in, I really enjoyed it, and I'd say if you enjoyed Road to Perdition you should give it a watch. 8+/10 |
Pacific Rim was great.
|
Saw "Pacific Rim" earlier. SPECTACTULAR movie, I encourage everyone to watch it.
Proves once and for all You do NOT fuck with Ron Pearlman. |
I'm watching Paul, yeah i'm forced to watch this as i don't particularly enjoy watching R rated movies.

Saw The Wolverine today and it felt...small.
Rather than my recent cinema experiences, Pacific Rim and Man of Steel, it would seem characters and story were the focus here, not the action. I mean there were a lot of impressive action scenes but there is only like two mutants other than Logan in the whole film, neither of which Logan ends up fighting. With so many ninjas and samurai flying about I was waiting for one of them to turn out to be a mutant and an epic fight to break out, but it never came. It wasn't a bad film, but I expected a popcorn flick and got a cerebral flick instead, so it took me a while to adjust and get the feel for it. |
The Wolverine WAS actually quite good. In fact, it was better than Iron Man 3 and probably on par with Man of Steel, both of which I did not expect it to happen. One of the strongest advantages the movie has is that it focuses on only a small group of characters rather than trying to throw every mutant possible into the movie just for the sake of doing so. It was a very story driven movie that also skipped out on Bay Explosions for something a lot more grounded and down to Earth. Well, at least as much as a movie about people with special powers can be. There were a few scenes that the movie could have done without, but the character development was quite good and competent. While one might think that is do to how low the bar was set with X3 and Wolverine, I personally don't think it really was, and that they learned from their past mistakes. I guess time will tell with next year's Days of Future Past movie, so we'll see. Lastly, there is a scene in the middle of the credits, but nothing after, so once that scene is done, you are good to go. I'm going to give The Wolverine an 8/10. We'll see if that score holds with repeated viewings.

Just came back from seeing The Wolverine. It had little bits that bugged me and the pacing was a little off, but all in all I really enjoyed it otherwise. A LOT more than I enjoyed Iron Man 3 that's for sure.
I really hope that's the Jean Grey angst done with though. This film could have really done without it. |
I forgot to mention this a while ago but I got see The Blues Brothers at TIFF last week... Probably the best movie I've seen in my life.
|
Just watched The Wolverine.

I re-watched How to Train Your Dragon. I must say, this movie has to be the most exhilarating animated movie I've ever watched. Even without the 3D I felt myself clinging to my seat during the roller coaster rides that were the flight sequences. I hope the sequel capitalizes on the best thing in the original, and give us more fantastic flying scenes (and judging by the trailer, they seem to know what they're doing).
Also, probably the best soundtrack since the last Star Wars movie. Seriously. Definitely Dreamworks' best job yet, and their standards are very high lately. |
I loved How To Train Your Dragon. It was fun, it was energetic, and it was just a good movie. I'm glad it's getting a sequel (Though it doesn't exactly need one), and I hope it keeps the same spirit as the first.

For Kung Fu Panda 2 I liked that they explored Po's past, and gave more character to the rest of the Furious Five. That was largely missing in the first movie. Also, the villain Shen the Peacock was a more complex villain, and while not as overwhelmingly powerful like Tai Lung, was more fun to watch. |
