I'm glad you all are enjoying Ryuki. Lots of people didn't like the tone, characters, designs, whatever, and never gave it a chance to grow on them.
It's really a great series. A much different tone if you go in after series such as OOO, Fourze, or Den-O (Kiva to a lighter extent).

Definitely, but it's not afraid to do goofy every now and then.

I've enjoyed all of the series but when I rank them its based on a number of things. So I'll look at overall story, characters, suit design for both riders and whatever the villians might be and the ending (technically part of the overall story yes, but these are 'supposed' to be the final time we'll see these characters so I judge it separately too)

So for me ryuki had the strongest suits, characters and over all story then the others =] whereas decade for example was good on an 2 episode/arc basis but overall was poor, had crap characters, but I do dig decade and diends designs.=]

I think it's just shock from someone rating a non-Showa series above Double, a series so enamored I'm still complained at for making the criticism that Double's ending was shit.

Ryuki did do goofy stuff from time to time, and there was a few occasions where it felt out of place, but it did well to break up the tension. Ryuki was serious, and the sense of optimism, that the "Good guys" would win, wasn't always entirely present, despite Shinji's protests and attempts. The world wasn't full of skepticals who secretly wanted to be friends, and that was something new for someone like me (Who, at the time, had only seen Decade, Kabuto, and Den-O in full (Double was in the middle of it's run at the time, as well)).

Haha yeah, i kinda just ignore the last episode and pretend that philip never vanished =p it's much better that way. When i was watching it i remember thinking 'What the hell, there's still an episode left...' Plus the characters all suddenly change their tunes rather quickly and randomly, but hey-ho it's certainly not the worst ending =)

Ryuki on the other hand was awesome. How everything comes together and all the characters essentially get what they want but die by doing so shows how wrong Shiro was and how resetting the timeline and letting go of Yui is ultimately the best thing. Sure it seems like a cop out but it hits home the idea of not being able to avoid the rider battle and desire.

I'm currently watching W, & I just saw the W X Decade Movie & since all i know of Decade are a few clips & cliff notes, i have a few questions:

1. Have Decade & W met before?
2. Why did Tsukasa have a Skull card?
3. Why does brutally murdering all the Riders save the Multi-verse?
4. Why didn't he have to kill Diend?
5. What was up with the Tackle chick?
6. Why did the old man turn into the leader of Super Shocker?
7. Why did that guy who says "Onore, Decade", turn out to be with Super Shocker? (And how did he grow a moustache?)
8. What was up with "the ultimate lifeform"?
9. Why did Super Shocker design a Giant mechanical elephant? And how exactly was W able to take control of it?
10. How disappointing was it that this was technically the finale to Decade?
11. Why is Tsukasa such a dick?
12. Why is Soukichi so awesome?

This.

1. Decade and W met briefly in the previous Decade movie, All Riders vs. Daishocker. It was W's first appearance - he showed up out of nowhere, beat up Shadow Moon, and then left.

2. He just does.

3. It doesn't make a lot of sense because... well, because it's this movie, but basically it's kind of a phoenix thing: the Riders are destroyed and then reborn from their own ashes to become legends that will never be forgotten. I think. It wasn't explained very well and is pretty stupid.

4. Because he didn't.

5. Tackle was Kamen Rider Stronger's partner and the first female Kamen Rider (even though whether or not she was a Rider is debatable - I think she is and that's good enough for me). She showed up as kind of like a spirit guide for Tsukasa because... um... because she did.

6. It was another reference to All Riders vs. Daishocker, where Natsumi's grandfather first became Doctor Shinigami. Only now it's explained that it was all because of a Gaia Memory.

7. That's Narutaki, a recurring antagonist from Decade. There has never been any explanation for who he is, what he wants, or why he has such a huge beef with Decade.

8. The Neo Lifeform was the final villain from the Kamen Rider ZO movie. It was just another revived enemy like the Bee Woman or Doras.

9. Because they did and because he could.

10. Monumentally.

11. Because Tsukasa is, in many ways, basically a watered down version of Tendou from Kamen Rider Kabuto, who was an epic dick. In fairness, he was even more of an asshole in this movie, but it wasn't really explained since we never saw what happened between Kaito shooting him in the face in the last episode of Decade and him going after Kabuto, Super-1, and Skyrider at the start of this movie.

12. Because he's a hard-boiled detective Kamen Rider with an awesome hat.

I actually just got through with decade, and it was OK. I can see points were people would and would not like it. Like changing up the riders from the original actors in the different worlds (while understandable) was kind of disappointing, and I couldn't care about the characters as much. Also, I don't think Japan has the whole "anti-hero" thing down. So Decade comes off as more of a dick than a hero. But, it was still cool to watch and the action scenes were entertaining enough and W is still my favorite series so it helps when he/they show up in the finale movie.

But Tendou wasn't a dick. He was just perfect (Which is why Kagami is totally the main character of Kabuto).

Kuuga is the good series ?

General consensus is that it's pretty good.
I haven't seen it myself to verify, though...

16. Who was that guy who was talking to Natsumi about Decade apparently saving the Multiverse?
17. How exactly did they get Tsukasa back?
18. Why did they want Tsukasa back?

16. Ostensibly Wataru Kurenai, Kamen Rider Kiva. Why is Kiva there? Mostly because it was pretty easy to get him since his show had just finished not that long ago.

17. Tsukasa was rebuilt from the memories that Natsumi, Kaito, and the AU Riders (that aren't Faiz) had of him.

18. Because, when he's acting normally, he's their friend.

19. It literally varies episode to episode.

20. That is a terribly overused meme. This too is Decade's fault.

Decade: Last Story
This might just be because i haven't seen Decade but i found Tsukasa really unlikable & the final fight was pretty much "All the Heisei Riders show up & kick everyone's ass, then a giant mechanical elephant jumps the shark". Also I almost couldn't watch when Decade was killing all the Riders, especially when he was jumped by Blade & Ryuki & he involuntarily turned Blade into a giant sword which he then used to gut Ryuki, I mean damn!

W: Begins Night
I feel this is easily the best of the 3, it gives you more of a backstory to W's origin, introduces Kamen Rider Skull (which i really hope i get to see again), & developed Shoutaro's character by him having to face his former mentor. Though it does have it's problems, the Sonozaki family just feels thrown in at the end & all threat & intimidation of the Dummy Dopant is lost once his secret is revealed.

Movie War 2010
This is by far the weakest of the bunch. It's riddled with questions like; "what's up with the Elephant", "Why is W able to use it?", etc. And the final fight is incredibly underwhelming, the fight itself lasting for about 2 minutes. The only really good part I felt was when Shoutaro talked to the AU Skull.

Anyway, that's me, what about you?

The problem with Decade's movies are that they think he has to be the strongest there is. Walking through Riders he has no right in beating (And no, I'm not fanboying. Kabuto can slow, stop, and reverse time. There is no reason for him to be taken out like he was).
Watch one of the Den-O and Decade movies. He's much more tolerable.
Also, you may want to check out his series. The Decade in his actual series isn't a total god mode sue.

Still at the beginning of Ryuki, just saw Ryuki take out Kamen Rider Scissors.

I was just watched the OOO, Den-O, All Rider: Let's Go Kamen Rider movie.
It's really fun. Granted, the climax is kind of lame (OOO performs flaming tai-chi and then the flying motorcycles), but the rest of the movie is good enough for me not to complain too much.
(It also makes me want to go through the secondary rider scene with a death count :lol)

And the next movie Den-O gets top billing in, Ryotaro's actor needs to come back. I really liked him :c

Just finshed watching the decade/shinkenger crossover. I thought the monster using the diend driver was awosome. Ive only seen the movie war 2010 and the first episode of decade. I might watch more.

Well I finally started watching W. We watched the first 12 episodes tonight, and the show is pretty awesome. I love the design for the Taboo Dopant. That is awesome and I want to see more of her.

Question, how many movies are there and what is the order to watch them in?

Or should I just wait until I finish the series before watching any of the movies?

I'm also finally rewatch my Kamen Rider Black DVDs. I'm up to episode 23, and this show is awesome, but I forgot how slow it was, especially in the beginning. However, Birugenia is still my favorite villian, and the monster designs are still the most realistic looking monsters out of any Kamen Rider series.

I just finished Den-O and all the movies. I'll be watching the Cho Den-O stuff next and then I'll start W. Kiva's cameo in Climax Deka makes me want to watch it.

Kiva is awesome (And ignore everyone who complains about his overuse of his super mode later on).

The movies are canon and add to the plot, so I'd recommend watching them. The first is Begins Night, which was part of the first Movie War film with Decade. If you just finished episode 12 I believe it should be the next thing you watch. It takes place after either 12 or 14, I forget which.

The second movie is Forever: A to Z, which takes place sometime in the mid-40s. It includes several things that help set up the show's ending.

The other movies all take place after the series. First is Movie Wars Core - don't watch the OOO part. After that is W Returns Accel, then W Returns Eternal, and finally Movie Wars Mega Max (which is more of a cameo and I wouldn't watch it if you haven't seen all of OOO as it hella spoils that show's ending).

Fuck yeah, Black! I love that show. The pacing is always a problem with that one, yeah. It never seems to make up its mind if it wants to be an episodic, MotW style show or a serialized action show. The result is that it waffles back and forth between both, which leads to the Nobuhiko subplot being really chopped up. Still, all the suit designs are great, the action is good, the main character is likable, and holy crap, that soundtrack.

Make sure not to blink or you might miss it.

Did Nihon ever sub the W movie on Begins Night? I cannot find it in any of my Kamen Rider files.

It's part of the W/Decade Movie War film. I know TVN subbed it, but they may keep it filed under Decade at their site.

Yeah, I found it on their site, but for some reason, I never downloaded it. I'm not sure why, so I'm currently downloading it.

Man, how many movies did this show have? It was so much simpler when you had one non-canon movie and that was it. I mean, you have the vs Decade movie, then the AtoZ movie (which I'm guessing there is a Director's Cut release right?), and then like 2 Accel movies and a vs OOOs movie. Is that all of them?

Anyway, I'm up to episode 20 and honestly, if it had not been so long since I had watched a Kamen Rider series, I would probably hate Accel to death. I mean, why does the second rider always have to hold some type of grudge and be an ass?

Finally, of course, now I want a W figure. Is there a Figuarts version of him?

A to Z, the two Movie Wars and the two W Returns, yeah. The show is kind of odd in how many movies it has - the show was just really popular and Toei decided to cash in on it by making the W Returns films.

Ryu mellows pretty quickly. He's not the persistent asshole that Kaixa or Zereonos were.

There are sixteen Figuarts of him. The main combos got single releases and the mix-and-match versions got two-packs. There's also Fang/Joker and every version of Xtreme, including the one that never actually existed, and a couple of movie-only forms like Cyclone/Cylcone, Joker/Joker, and Joker. the main nine combos, Fang/Joker, and Xtreme got wide releases. The rest were exclusive.

Yeah, I'm up to 31 on W & I can certainly say that Terui does become more likable & gets along with W more, though he does still put down Shoutarou from time to time.

Oh, & BTW, trailers for the Chou Den-O Trilogy movie have started popping up, anything W related that I should be bothered about?

The Cho Den-O trilogy handles Zeronos, Diend, and Cho Den-O, so I don't think so...

Skull shows up in Episode Yellow (Diend), but it's nothing special or relevant.

Diend summons a bunch of movie Riders, including Skull. He doesn't speak or do anything major. That's all the W-ness that we get in those movies.

W Returns? Are those the Accel movies?

Yeah, that was a nice change. We are up to episode 31 now, which we will continue tomorrow. I've gotta say, Wakana started to grow on me until she suddenly became all random due to Weather tampering with her memory. I loved Terror's expression though when he spoke to him inbetween the dishes, that was priceless. I've gotta say though, Terror is probably the best evil male villian I have seen from a Kamen Rider series in years. In fact, he might be the only male villian I have actually liked since most of the others either showed up randomly near the end of the show or were just morons. Something about this evil organization really stands out from what I am used to with a Kamen Rider show, and it is kind of nice. I won't say I think it is better than Blade or Kiva though, but it is definitely up there as one of the best. I just hope the ending does not leave a sour taste in my mouth.

Yeah, I was looking at them on ebay, but the prices are insane. I think the cheapest one was like $140, so I decided I don't want him that badly anymore. And then I also saw that Terror and Taboo have figures, which were like $300, so forget that.

Check BBTS. It has Extreme for pre-order and the Dopants for about $80.

The first is an Accel movie, the second one is based around Eternal and NEVER.

You may still be able to find Xtreme on amiami or hlj, too. That thing hella shelfwarmed. Do not even think of paying $300 for Taboo or Terror - they're just statues.

Mandarake would be a pretty good place to look, too, they have a lot of older Figuarts at non-stupid prices.

I tend to forget that Amiami is still pretty useful, despite how stupid their pre-orders are.

Oh yeah, did Nihon ever sub the director's cut of the AtoZ movie (I think I might have already asked this though)? I can only find the theatrical version in all of my files and even on their tracker page, nothing says they have the DC version.

And for some reason their Eternal movie only plays with audio commentary on, and I'm not sure why.

I can't help you on that one - those both came out after I fully switched to Over-Time. I can tell you that O-T does have both of those and they both work fine.

I ended up downloading OT's, converted it to MP4, and then found where the Nihon version was. Nevertheless, after doing all of that work, I decided to watch OT's version. The movie itself was a lot better than the other Rider movies, but like all of the other ones, the pacing sucks. I've gotta stop watching the Director's Cuts because they seem to have one really important scene that makes the movie make a whole lot more sense, but then it gets dragged into 15 more minutes of boredom. You have some movies that start out great and then go down hill after 10 minutes like The Last Card, and then you have movies that take an hour to get good like Paradise Lost. Of course, the reason I did watch the DC of AtoZ was because I read it gave more development to the Sonozaki family, and I did not see anything of the like.

Anyway, with that said, you could probably tell where we are in the series. We have 5 episodes left, and this show remains excellent, but I have to wonder how they are going to defeat Museum and Foundation X all in the next two hours. Thus far though, I love Clay Doll's Xtreme form as it makes me think of something out of a Persona game, and that Foundation X dude is pretty cool. I think my least favorite set of episodes have been the ones with the Gene Dopant followed by the Old Dopant. However, there is not too much here to complain about.

For some reason people constantly complain about the final episode. I won't spoil why that is, or what happens for you. But I actually really dug the last episode as it felt open ended. It wasn't some crazy final form battle to decide everything and then the heroes just walked away. It's the aftermath of the final battle, seeing where life takes you when the war is over and small skirmishes are all that's left. The ending really is more of a beginning to me, and I appreciate it because of that. It's like that series epilogue that you always want, but never get (or at least I do).
