Like I said before we started talking about Japanese models, I liked it. It was dumb, but fun. It reminded me a lot of Den-O at its silliest.

An alien threat is heading to Earth, Gou had to gather the other Hikaribito to fight them, they're having trouble combining their powers because Gou has a tragic backstory. I don't know where you learned about story structure, but that's what we call a "plot."

The same way the Imagin from Den-O were heroes. Like, exactly the same way as they have almost the same blend of personalities. And in the last episode they attempted to combine their powers to unlock, um... something, but it didn't work. Aside from that, they aren't prepping because they're all incredibly self-confident in their abilities, something that's likely going to blow up in their faces when the initial wave of Maagi arrive, leading to a rallying moment.

The theory that's going around on 2ch is that the first eight episodes are going to be pretty silly, but 9-13 are likely to ratchet up the action and drama quotient.

Okay, so what the purpose of the girl? Why is she there? What does she add to the series? Gou has a tragic backstory? He had to go do something to leave his girlfriend, that is not tragic at all. All I see are these "heroes" goofing off playing DDR or taking the images of pretty girls instead of actually doing anything productive. That is not plot development, that is just killing time.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah, comparing this show to Den-O is not going to happen when I did not care for the Imajins.

So in other words, they only had enough plot to make 6 episodes, but they couldn't do that because of how Japanese tv works. Maybe they should have just made this as a two hour movie.

It's a show that airs at the same time Garo did, but with a larger focus in humor, it's quite weird. And as you can see very hit or miss.

Anyway, I caught the raw for episode 7 just now. The five main Hikaribito finally confront Jin and, as befitting this kind of climactic meeting, they all take a bath together.

Yeah, it's the onsen episode. Which, surprisingly, manages to somehow buck expectations and manage to be the first episode with absolutely no female nudity. I do feel really bad for the suit actors who had to wear those costumes in a hot spring. That can't have been comfortable.

Definitely need to see this one subbed, but overall I still liked it. The show is just fun. It's silly, it has likable characters (especially Gan - Shouma Yamamoto is so damn fun in this), and it still squeezes in some drama and action. No, it's not the next Garo or Nexus or Shinkenger or Agito. But what it is is a damn fun little show that I really look forward to every week (so much so that I always watch it ASAP as soon as the raw comes out and then again with the subs).

And popsicle Magii still can't win. :(

In terms of the show, I agree with you Dr Kain (I know, I guess the world is ending or some shit). For a show that is only thirteen episodes long, it's slow as fuuuuuuuuuck.

Every episode is 18 minutes of pure nonsense placed under the banner of 'comedy', sure comedy is subjective and all that but comedy at least needs to be funny, which this isn't...in the slightest.

Then there is about fifteen seconds of fight footage, usually involving people jumping up and down in front of green screens before the words WEAPON ADVENT smash onto the screen and Gou wins.

Then the last three or so minutes are made up of the scattered unnecessary and out of place soft core porn.

This show is garbage.

Is it a bad show? Eh, I can see where some people would think that the pacing is what hurts it I think as it really can't seem to focus and decide what kind of course it wants to run. I'd definietly classify this as a guilty pleasure show.


Although, this show makes me wonder what kind of drugs Keita Amemiya must be smoking.

The problem is Keita is still stuck on his child Garo. Which is obvious from watching this. I've lived in Japan half my life, my wife is Japanese and I nor her really see the comedy aspect of this. :(

Well episode 7 came and went and... yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah... I'm not going to bother repeating myself.

I did like the scene when all of them were in the hot tub with Jin though.

Episode 8... oh man, episode 8.

So it starts off as a very obvious parody of J-Horror films, complete with really dark, creepy, and stylized visuals.

And then halfway through it turns into Akibaranger. :lol

I fucking love this show. I'm almost sad that next week the plot starts getting serious.

So why is the series not just 6 episodes long? I mean, if they are waiting until episdoe 9 to start plot, and there are only 5 episodes, left, that means 2-8 were just a waste of time. There was no need to have the series be stretched it this long when they clearly had no idea what they wanted to do with it.

Well in practice it makes sense, have an episode focusing on each hero, bring them together and then face the big bad. But they just ruined it by pairing every plot related scene with either tits or random shit that wasn't funny. They could have made good use of the amount of episodes they had, if the writers had a sense of humour.

Yeah, I like comedy as much as the next guy but the show's execution makes it feel a bit juvenile.

They had an idea. They wanted to do some weird, goofy stories that give the actors a chance to be silly.

Not every episode of every show needs to be part of some kind of complex master plot.

I haven't checked out the latest episode yet but I have to say I found the previous two episodes a step up from the first lot. They still weren't all there, but the comedy bits (such as the sushi "research" and then the questionnaire thing in the following ep) came across a lot better. I just wish it would focus on either that or the fighting, because right now the two are clashing so neither are getting it quite right.

When your series is 13 episodes, nobody ain't got time for filler.

Seriously, if you are less than 20ish episodes, you DO NOT have the luxury of wasting time with filler!!!!! Make you series 25 episodes if you want to do filler episodes.

With that said, episode 8 had some nice elements in it but then had to weird it all out.
