2) The white Shogunzord was white because it was white. Tommy piloted it and Kat bummed around in the background. That didn't need explaining. |
Does this all mean that this is relavent now?:

Ah well. Tbh that Dai symbol in PRDT is probably a hold over from one of the many awesome plans people had for continuity in the show that got shuffled away in favour of typical late-Tzachor era work. Nothing more, nothing less. Summary: Do I think Saban is clever enough to first find this footage, review it and make it a continuity thing? No. |
I don't get the hate this scene is getting, I'm pumped that they are including the Dairanger suits!
They didn't have to use that part of the episode but they did and I am so happy. I think it's them throwing sentai fans a bone personally. Sure we'll more than likely never get an explanation but hey I'm choosing to bleave they're were the first warriors from Eltar or the ancient rangers idea that was tossed around in Lost Galaxy. |

Ugh, call Doc Brown and have him explain this. |

But I don't think there's any bone throwing here. Saban just didn't want to shoot new scenes using the White Ranger/Kibaranger suit and lazily not redoing the end of this fight worked as a way to give a half assed explanation of them prior to its appearance. |
'Throwing a bone at sentai fans'. This thread is full of drivel.

I second that.

Motion carried! moving on.

Anyway , I think some of you are being harsher than necessary on this decision. So they use the DaiRanger footage, it really isn't that big of a deal when it is from a minute long fight sequence that only happened once in Gokai. The only other time we'll probably see the Dai costumes is during the legendary war (if it ever happens). |
*Dusts Hands like Decade*
*Cracks knuckles* *Loosens head like Ouja* Its Rant time. Power Rangers is very near and dear to my heart. Dino Thunder was the series as a kid, which i really got into. Now say what will of that season but I liked it as a kid, the team interactions, the White Ranger, Mesogog, it was all such a wonder to me. Power Rangers Dino Thunder on the PS2 was my first videogame ever. When I look at things like the Disney Power Rangers series or Go-busters, I think, "Wow, look at these amazing stories and how far toku storytelling has gotten since MMPR." So what does Saban do with the Power Rangers franchise? Move it foward? Nope. Go in a different direction? Nope. They go backwards. LITERALLY BACKWARDS. Back to campy and cringe worthy writing, shitty plots, minimal effort and laziness. And its not just that Megaforce/Super Megaforce is bad on its own. Its supposed to be a "celebration" of everything Power Rangers is up to this point an as a transition to the future. Well, I don't fucking like this future if this is the direction is headed. The laziness and terribleness of this "Anniversary" season to me, is a disrespect to the writers and actors before it that tried to make Power Rangers more then just a stupid kids show. I know TV shows like this are supposed to sell toys and gaining money from advertising revenue, but in order to do that, you have to create a decent show first. When a kid, the target demographic of PR, says its shit and isn't going to watch it, then you should be fucking ashamed about how terrible the show is to the point of losing money. The problem isn't the fact that they are using the Dairanger suits. Its just that these "New powers" are so lazily explained and don't have a grand and proper introduction for such an important thing. A Lost team sounds like a really cool idea, no matter the simple explanation. But when you shun off these "powers never seen on this planet before," as an alternate form that doesn't even get highlighted in the episode its introduced it in, you done fucked up. And really, its even more sad if you actually think about this. Power Rangers hasn't been good since 2009. Let me give you some context on how long that's been. I was in Elementary school when RPM aired, I'm now in highschool. There literally is a generation of kids that is growing up with some really shitty Power Rangers seasons. It also doesn't help that the "OMGMMPR" losers that are coming back to this season just to see the anniversary are gonna see the same shit as MMPR and think it hasn't progressed since then. |

I'm not one to defend Power Rangers very much. The show is based towards kids, and it's become very apparent. As JDF has stated, "Kids like cheese", so to have the show not meet the expectations of the older fans is pretty much a standard expectation. It's fun when we do get some things thrown our way (like Skull in Super Samurai), but I don't expect to the show to cater to older fans at all anymore.
However, with the use of the DaiRanger suits, and their backstory being "powers never before seen on this planet" ... and seeing that this has been billed as the 20th Anniversary, and every Power Ranger fan will love this series, etc. etc. etc., I find this to be an incredibly lazy move on the production team's half. I don't like it. As a Power Rangers fan, I take insult that they'd give us our first non-US appearance by a Sentai team and the backstory we're given is "powers not seen on this world before". There was always a thought that DaiRanger suits would be used in Lost Galaxy to show the Power Rangers from the Magna Defender's home planet, and this was the perfect opportunity to give that entire "rumor" or story line that was nixed back then some love - "You've unlocked powers from the world of an old ally to the Power Rangers" would have been enough for me. But no. So in my celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Power Rangers, I have to somehow explain to myself why there are non-Power Ranger powers being shown, when the reality is, Jonathon Tzachor and his production staff are just incredibly lazy. I honestly doubt the powers that be at Saban's headquarters are aware that this was thrown in (they were so adamant at SDCC that they weren't going to have any Sentai characters shown in anything 20th Anniversary, and were upset to find there was a couple that snuck in on the Monopoly graphic). So, at the end of the day, I believe this to be nothing more than laziness by the production team, and if you're a fan and you're insulted at this thing, you have every right to be. Saban Brands can't create any special footage or story for something you want - like Titanium Ranger - but they'll gladly shoehorn in some Super Sentai footage because that's cheaper than shooting new footage. Disappointed. Curious what Saban will say when it comes to Power Morphicon this year, if they even address it or if any fan is brave enough to question them on it. |

I think it was meant to be a fan service. If saban wanted to, they could have stayed in goseiger suits longer. I think it was cool.

Fan service is not mindless or stupid. Power rangers has deteriorated frighteningly so. It's heartbreaking to me as a long time fan, to see a total lack of innovation or effort for something I loved. |

The big boss has spoken, cheers boss. Also, I agree with everything you said.
How cool would it have been if they actually filmed a whole scene on Defenders home planet with those rangers in action? I would have been 100 hundred percent okay with the suits then, because it'd be an expansion of the series which would be great in an anniversary season. |
I agree that kids tend to like cheesiness sometimes, but the level of dialogue and story seem to me, at least, that the writers are assuming kids are just plain stupid. I don't think kids are ever as simple or unable to cogitate as adults make them out to be. I know when I was a wee lad that I absolutely hated when people talked down to me. Which seems to be what this show is doing.

Really, it's this kind of lazy ignorance from Saban that reminds me of Transformers Energon. Where they were already working with a boring series, but then the American adaptation was just totally braindead whenever it had to actually adapt certain aspects. It's the same mindless fluff with no real plot or personality or energy. Honestly, Kamen Rider has kind of ruined PR AND Sentai for me. When I watch Gaim or the like, and see Toku done so well, and then see Sentai and what it's doing, and modern Power Rangers and what IT'S doing, it's like night and day. |
Then you watch GARO and it's like WHY IS IT THAT EVERY SERIES I LOVED SEEMS SO RUBBISH ALL OF A SUDDEN WHHHHHHY.
|
Garo's first season is supposed to be good, right?

There is also a buttload of movies, none of which I particularly enjoyed. |
Another head canon i just thought up for the Dairanger suits, notice how there's a gap in the power rangers continuity because every season takes place in the year it's aired.
That being the case we have a gap in 2009 and 2010, my headcanon is that these suits were from that point. |
Why make a headcanon? Why not get mad so Saban doesn't pull this kinda crap again? If you just accept shit like this, Saban is only going to put in less effort next time, and then even LESS effort the time after that, until he literally just films a static toy for thirty minutes with no sound, music, dialogue or motion.

The hate for that scene is stupid cause it only happens once without involving the legend war. Well in my opinion anyways.
|
It's stupid to be mad that a show with very little time, is still somehow wasting time on Dairangers, without actually using them to add to the story, and they aren't Power Rangers any way in an anniversary celebrating Power Rangers which already has barely any tribute episodes to the past seasons this is supposed to be celebrating?
I guess the word 'stupid' got redefined in the last five minutes, because on my planet, what Saban is doing is stupid, not the hate for it. |
True, but remember Megaforce & Super Megaforce ended up like Samurai & Super Samurai which was a 20 episode for each thing, honestly the whole idea of that is fucking stupid. Honestly I still watch it but till Dino Charge airs I'm not gonna enjoy PR as much.

Though I seem to recall a jar of mayonnaise being used... |
I love reading about how people are quitting on Super Megaforce all because they added in a new team of rangers that were on screen for like a minute.
|
I'm not quitting, I'm still watching it, but honestly people are never satisfied anymore, first people were bitching about PR never using the core five Dairanger suits now they're pissed about them being used even as a fucking one time fight scene.

I'm still hoping we get Dairanger keys here. >_< |
