Yeah, while I don't care what anyone says the, pre-Zyu sentai suits being left in is pretty stupid but I didn't find the episode....half bad at all. I don't even think the Jayden cameo was that bad either, honestly. It even had a bunch of callbacks to Samurai. I barely remmember Samurai so I'm probably not as irritated by the disk thing as I should've been.

The acting...eh. I found it better than Samurai's for the most part this episode. I've heard people say that PR has NEVER had good acting and that's stupid. There has been way better than this. This though, it's nothing special but it doesn't grate my ears nearly as much as samurai.

Were there flaws? Yes. Back to the sentai only suits, what's with cutting some out and leaving others? Why?! In fact most of my problems with the episode lie in the editing alone.

But they even had a flashback to conveniently remind you that the Double Disc creates a second Fire Smasher when put in the Fire Smasher, then proceeded to have a scene where they added footage of him putting it in the Fire Smasher only for it not to do anything. Doesn't help that then Blue used it with his sword and it did exactly what its supposed to do.

Ah. Well , I'll chalk that one up to my list of grievances then. I still thought the episode was okay though.

It occurs to me, and id expect that its occured to others, theyre throwing in the suits in a misguided nod to the sentai for us. The fact is that most kids that watch power rangers couldnt name 5 teams, let alone 20. For all they know, every suit could represent a team theyre just too young to remember. Its silly but honestly, i think this is more a nod to us given previously the producers were all anti-sentai acknowledgement.

Like a lot of over the hill cash hungry companies, i think they tried to do something good and utterly fucked it up. Rather than show every team, theyre letting the odd one slip in.

Or theyre just crap at their jobs and dont know which suits are PR and which arent.

The thing I find most baffling is they go to a lot of effort to hide some suits, but then leave others in, this bizarre choice makes it impossible to assume they're nodding at sentai fans and really the only assumption that makes sense is the people making this genuinely didn't realise they weren't Power Rangers - someone in this thread said they look kinda like other teams.

It's inexcusable maybe, but I'd rather they were just fucking braindead retarded than wasting a show with barely any episodes (twenty, out of the sentai fifty) on nods at fucking sentai fans, when they aren't even tributing their own franchise properly.

I knew what the image would be as soon as I read this yet I went back to check anyway. My foolishness had a cost. My computer suddenly decided it didn't like gif images and froze for three minutes on Jayden's creepy glare.

It can't be a mistake, because they always say what series they're turning into when they're Power Rangers, but of the four times we've seen Sentai only, they've only ever called them "Legendary Ranger Mode". I could understand if sometimes they didn't explicitly say what season when it IS a season, but they definitely know what comes from where.

The whole thing baffles me really.

I don't think they're nods to Sentai fans either. Otherwise, fan favourites like Jetman wouldn't get cut (especially considering they had a pretty awesome scene) while comparatively unknown Sentai like Flashman would make the cut. And Sentai fans have the entirety of Gokaiger, putting in nods in a Power Rangers Anniversary is just freaking stupid. I thought the ACG cards with the Gorangers (And VulEagle...) and the Sentai in the far background of the Monopoly Board were pretty cool, but this is too much.

There's been some debate on the topic, but I'm fairly certain she meant it as that changing into lots of Rangers in sequence was a "blitz" rather then she was changing into a season called "Blitz". It'd help if she delivered the line differently to how she delivers every VA line, though.

Oh my God, the way they speak entirely in exposition, the fucking zoom. To be fair, it actually does make Samurai look pretty cool but how much can you say about a thirty second sequence which is entirely made up of a witless one liner?

EDIT: Oh wow...they're actually relatively quiet when fighting. I appreciate that they're using the morph calls of the previous Rangers as well...but the pacing issues are just as apparent as they were in episode one, and Jayden was barely there "Hi guys! I'm going to make an (admittedly funny) quip. Here's your disk, kthnxbye!" and Ryuranger being there for no reason, and with no explanation. Same with Yellow Mask, and Pink Flash. Her "I bet you didn't see that coming" line felt really freaking patronizing.

Say what you will about Gokaiger, but at least it felt like a celebration of it's franchise, and SMF...just...doesn't. It feels cheap, and it really sucks. It could be so much better, and forgive me if I'm not optimistic about this franchise's future, but if this is what they're putting out for the 20th anniversary, then I doubt they'd ever put much effort into anything else going forward. I'm with GoseiWonder here...RPM was the last Power Rangers series.

So I finally got to sit down for this and have thoughts.

- At this point I'm beating a dead horse about the ADR being awful. But it's still awful. Prince Vekar sounds a bit more appropriate, but no one else does still.

- More needlessly filmed snippets of Megaforce costumes. I just don't see the point of trying to force these in there any more. Make a decision, either they have to use them or they don't.

- This crap about only being able to maintain legendary mode for a short time is a pretty pathetic way to explain away the abrupt cuts in footage.

- For god's sake Saban. If you're going to do an anniversary season for the fans then stop featuring things that have never existed in Power Rangers before. Saban reps made this huge deal at SDCC about not wanting to use sentai only characters in this show. And that they were VERY upset that the Dairanger footage made it into the promo vids at the show. And that's just been thrown out the window now? They just don't care enough to edit out the sentai suits anymore? We know they can like how they had to in episode 1. You know what? Why the hell even waste the time and budget reshooting the Legend War footage with a more limited selection of characters like they did? They've rendered that act entirely pointless now.

All in all a more structured episode than the last few. But the same glaring quality and editing issues still exist. And this show is still a huge disappointment. I'm not even a Power Rangers fan and I still feel like Saban just isn't trying at all for us. When this supposed anniversary for the fans happens, let me know.

I don't think I could ever say I love this show, I think at best I could say I'm tolerating it for the sake of discussion. For the above stated reasons, and those I've stated in previous episode discussions though, it's terrible. I'm truly sorry that Saban didn't deliver the anniversary promised to the fans.
