So I take it you don't read IDW comics then where combiner wars stuff mainly based off
|
Nope. The only thing that catches my interest lately are the Windblade comics so I read her part of the Combiner Wars once it's collected in a paperback. I don't like MTMTE/RID, not my cup of tea. And frankly I don't care if Sky-Lynx is a combiner in the comics, they are made to advertise the toys anyways.
My main problem with this figure is that I'll need some limbs or I get nothing out of the lynx head besides a bad Black Knight-cosplay from Monty Python. "It's just a flesh wound!". And I have no interest in picking any limbs up, most of them look pretty bad. And what I get in the end is a combiner which makes no sense, so I don't see the appeal of this. Also he's fairly small, needs to be bigger. And they have this Titan Wars-thingy coming up so I don't see why they don't just release Sky-Lynx in a proper size with proper gimmicks. |

I hate the CW Blast Off.
I also hate the people decrying the idea off a team of military vehicles using a rocket because "that's not military" and justifications for it as "then First Aid is a Combaticon because Military Field Medic." https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...ore_launch.jpg Military Space Shuttle. |

how many militaries have used a space shuttle in active combat. The example you gave is an experimental project not yet deployed |
I actually prefer Blast Off as a jet. Sure he was a shuttle in G1 and the USAF has a military shuttle, but a fighter jet just fits the theme better. Unfortunately, despite the fact that I like the altmode change, the head is a dealbreaker for me. I'll probably end up going Takara for Bruticus, since Blast Off will inevitably have his original head design, which I greatly prefer.
|
Well technically Shockwave is a Combaticon now too ;)
|
But they didn't even give Blast Off a bloody new head. It's 100% a repaint... I'm incredibly disappointed in it too.

One time I saw all of the stunticons at my TRU. Next time I went most were gone

I really like the new remolding of the fembot combiner, the new headsculpts, weapons and combiner hands & feet are badass.
The color-scheme though... ugh. Maybe Takara can save this. But SDCC was a disappointment for Transformers so far. |

But isn’t that the 5 step version that turns into a turtle version of himself they call a tank?
Nah, not interested. I would dig the RID-stuff much more if they would actually do Voyagers and Leaders, the designs are really good, but they toys are meh. Takara does deliver though, there's this giant Prime and they remold FOC-Grimlock into RID-Grimlock and it looks really sweet. Might be the first RID-toy I buy, Voyager Grimlock I mean. |
With Scattorshot's reveal today, we have every g1 combiner in CW except for Monstructor, Abominus, and Piranahcon. Understandable, since those three have very different components from the others.

After seeing G2 Combiner Wars Menasor, anyone here besides me think that those who hunted for, and paid $15,000-$25,000 for unreleased production samples of G2 Menasor on eBay are eating crow right now?
Also, calling it now: G2 Combiner Wars Defensor in 2016. |
I want that G2 Superion, especially since I held off on getting those molds because I wanted G2 Superion.
Just wish I knew if that was blue and red or blue and orange on Silverbolt. May need to have OOO orange up mine. |

Instead, Scattorshot links with some of the already-released Autobots to form "Betatron." |
I have mixed feelings on Victorion. the new heads are nice, and I like that the two copters have remolded arms, but I think I'm still going to pass on this. The color scheme is my main problem, it's just too uniform. On the plus side it does make the team feel more cohesive than other combiner teams, but it's just too much of only two colors, and it doesn't help that the two colors used are so bright. That being said, the ones we've seen are the hand-painted versions so I'm sure the final one will be more toned down.
I'm also a little tired of the molds they chose for it, especially the Alpha Bravo mold. As I said before, it's nice that the arms are new, but I don't really want two of the exact same figure (With the exception of head) in one combiner. I doubt I'll be picking up Victorion, unfortunately. As for the G2 Aerialbots and Stunticons, they look pretty cool. I have a strange affinity for garish G2 color schemes, so they'll be tough to resist, the Stunticons in particular. |

Saw these today at a local store. As much as I love the Insecticons, there is no way I'll spend $80.00 for three toys I already own in great condition.

Will they ever do something special for Beast Wars given that the show is turning 20 years old next year? Beast Wars did help bring back Transformers after G1 ended almost a decade ago in the US. Beast Wars help introduced Transformers to a new generation for kids who didn't grow up with G1.
Beast Wars was my first Transformers series and didn't know about G1 until sometime in late 1996 or early 1997 when I saw G1 VHS tapes at my local video store. I didn't know that there was older Transformers shows at the time. |
well there was that dinobot stopmotion shown but people are skeptical on it to say the least. Personally I hope Dinobot gets the voyager he deserves.

For my anime & manga club, we plan to do anime based on franchises from the West for this semester. Which Transformers anime do you think would be good? Last year (Fall 2014) we show Beast Wars II and some people where mixed on it.

Carrobots is pretty fun.

I was kind of partial to Galaxy Force when I saw it.

So on TFW2005 people are talking about a potential Defensor and Bruticus in G2 colors. They seem confident that we'll get them but there's a slight matter I feel they're overlooking:
The helicopter mold. So far it's been used for Alpha Bravo, Blades (both Hasbro and Takara), Sky Burst and Stromclash from the Victorion set, Vortex (again one from Hasbro and another from Takara) and TFCC's Spinister. That's a whopping 8 uses of that mold over the last two years. It's doubtful that mold's gonna survive any more use after Combiner Wars runs its course. HasTak may have to make another heli mold if they decide on making G2 Defensor and Bruticus. |
