Race is okay to homage but not anything else? Also, the original team didn't have Adam and Aisha. I have no problem homaging JYB, I love JYB as much as anyone, but this sin't really the right way to homage those characters.

Changing the race of a character should never be a big deal as long as its not a fundamental aspect of the characters background and or personality.

BTW, I think the new guy looks cool. I actually think he'd make a better red ranger than the other guy. He just looks serious and tough. But calling him an "homage" because of his race is, um, not all right.

I hope these actors can act. I know PR has been known for having bad acting, but this a big budget movie. People have high hopes for it and I hope they can pull off the rangers personalities.

I absolutely love that T-Rex concept. The Command Center is great too, and the Zordon interpretation is something I never thought of, but makes perfect sense.

The T-Rex zord looks nice. Although, IMO, it lookers like a T-Rex mixed with an Alien, due to the cockpit being visible and making the head smooth. Still looks good.

As for the concept art I am seeing, I really like Greg Semkow's stuff. Most especially his idea for Zordon. I really hope the movie has something along those lines for him, the command center, and even Alpha.

The face-less Meazord head is an interestin idea, and would feed into shots of the Rangers similar to the series, but isn't something I would want to see in the movie.

Ok, thank you. That is one beautiful T-Rex zord. I even like the translucent dome for the face. The more I see of this guys work, the more I wish he was hired to work on the movie. Honestly, if I didn't know better, this could have fooled me as being an actualy screen-shot of the movie, lol.

Upon further thinking, the T-Rex reminds me of an oversized Mouser from TMNT.

Question, why do people think this movie is gonna be like the new Fantastic 4 movie as it's gonna have very little studio care/dedication? Was it just the fact that a studio head people didn't like (Robert Orci) dropped it, thinking HE was too good for this, is it just the release date being January, the production being so close, or anything else?

Because I kinda think this movie won't bomb. For one thing, Lionsgate needs another franchise soon. Hunger Games is wrapping up and Divergent is getting near the end here. For them to just throwaway something with a lot of cinematic universe (AKA money) potiental, to me just wouldn't make sense.

I don't think Orci is a factor. The most likely reason he dropped it was to get the Star Trek directorial gig (which he didn't get, in the end).

A lot of people argue that the January release date indicates a lack of faith in the movie because traditionally January is seen as a dumping ground for movies.

Honestly I feel people can't really see how the movie will actually work because Power Rangers has historically been associated with cheaper production values, so they feel the movie might end up the same too. I myself am excited to see this movie, as I can't really imagine how it'll look like as a big budget production.

However, I believe the movie will have all the necessary production values. I am extremely sure it's not treated like a Fantastic Four. The FF movie had a lot of studio interference, and there was pressure to release the movie on time to keep the film rights to Fantastic Four.

I think one of the major reason why people are cautious about such a project is because there has been a very bad track record of adapting "nostalgic" propertys into movies.

Except for most of the Marvel and DC Films it hasnt really worked out so far. Transformers, GI Joe, Jem and the Holograms, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Chipmunks, The Smurfs etc. havent really met the expectations of fans and arent considered to be really well made movies.

Even so, only Jem is an absolute failure as a movie among those. :lol

Well it depends on your criteria for good movies, I suppose. Now of those you listed, I've only watched the first three Transformers movies and the first GI Joe one. My main beef with the Transformers movies are the excessive violence and the lewd and toilet humour. If they got rid of those, I would have been satisfied.

I don't like the Transformers movies ... but it's mostly due to a sense of distaste at the crude, low-brow violence and humour. It seems to have entertained millions, though.

And thats exactly what I wouldnt wanna see in a Power Rangers film. Even Chipmunks and Smurfs had the toilet humor especially in regards to them eating or thinking that they ate shit at one point in the film.

I also dislike the constant need for objectifiying the female characters in said movies. But that goes mostly for the Transformers franchise.

Structural and just straight up story problems pretty much all of those movies have is another matter entirely.

But then again it never seemed like I was the intended audiences for those movies which is why I cant stomach what so many people see in them that makes them go see them every single time.

Oh yeah, if you're talking objections with toilet humour, objectification and all those crass things, then I'm all behind you. I absolutely hate those, and it's the main reason I can't stand the Transformers movies. I can do with the plot holes and structural issues, but the lowbrow stuff is not for me.

I sincerely hope Power Rangers does not devolve into that. I don't feel like Lionsgate is the type of studio to do that, and it does seem that Saban cares more about his stuff being kid-friendly than say, Hasbro does. So fingers crossed.

Yeah. Personally I think the worst that could happen with the movie is that its just kinda alright like the TMNT movie was.

The TMNT movie was what I was thinking, and I've never even watched that. :lol

Its a good rental. What hurt that movie the most where all the changes made during production and the action scenes not being very interesting. Most of all because the turltes are so huge that you dont get the Martial arts action you want from that film.

But thats that and not an issue PR will have with its action :lol

That megazord headshot with the rangers visible inside feels like it should be a cover for a EDM record that remixes all power rangers songs.

I will be sure to catch it some day. I thought it would outright suck, but people on this board have said it's a pretty fun watch.

After hearing about what happened with Jem, I had a hilarious dream where the rebooted rangers wore adidas tracksuits and matching hats instead.
On their chest they had the my name is sticker.
Hilarious but at the same time horrid. :lolol

Honestly, I think some people just enjoy being overly judgemental of new/unproven things. Most especially on the internet where people feel the freedom to say anything they want to with no consiquences.

It sometimes feels like optimism and hope are dead concepts on the internet...

I agree with you, we are a cynical generation. I personally want to be a bit more optimistic so until the movie has been proven to actually suck, I'll keep my hopes up. :)
