I have two friends who have been trying HARD to convince me that Pac-Man is stupid and shouldn't be included. Their arguments include "Pac-Man looks dumb in 3D and why should he throw fruit when he eats that." It's just... Ugh. They won't stop either. I'm really excited about one of my favorite characters being brought into the game - and a character that freaking works in this style of game (unless you refuse to acknowledge the YEARS of his history in 3D games like some...) - but I'm apparently not allowed to enjoy the reveal thanks to them.

I think i'll use him a couple of times, when this game does a roster right, i really want to play as that characters.

Hey, Nintendo keeps forcing us to use it. Might as well make light of that since Miis can be any face whatsoever and there's only so much ROM in a Wii U disk.

Nintendo hardly force us to use it though, in fact I wish they would! If anything all they did with it was make sure that its existence would scare away 3rd Parties while they themselves only utilized it properly in the game that came free with the console (Nintendoland). Games like Mario Kart 8 and Pikmin 3 are especially unforgivable with just how little thought they put into the Game-Pad and games like SM3DW just tacked it on unnecessarily on random levels as if to say "hey, uh, remember that thing?". It was a cool gimmick but they've used it so poorly its actually become something of a bane on the console.

I think my bitterness with Wii U is showing again. Whoops. But seriously, ONE game not named Nintendoland that actually put effort into the Gamepad would be great.

Happy to hear Game and Watch is back, I always enjoyed playing as him. Can't wait to play as Pac Man he should be fun.

I understand you wanting more use of the Gamepad, but let's face it it only holds 3 hours of battery life and having to use it in order to use the Wii U's internet feels like a step back for me after how easy it was to use the Wii's Internet with just the Wii Remote.

Also having to program a game to use it takes time and I'm sure lots of 3rd Party guys just want their games being ready ASAP in order to get money.

Yes I'm aware of the 10 hour pack you can put into the Gamepad but so far how many people ever know about that, let alone care? You can force people to use the Gamepad but unless something's done about it's charging problems nobody's going to use it like you want it too.

Besides we might be getting new Gamecube controllers for SSB4. It might not happen but I can dream, right?

I didn't know the Gamepad had battery life problems, honestly the only thing I like about it is being about to play co-op with it like in Hyrule Warriors, I wish more things could be like that, so I wouldn't have to go buy a second system for my brother and I to play Co-op games. (Fuck this wave of Online Multiplayer shit, and not having Local co-op. *Nothing to do with Smash Bros. which is awesome.)

I still have my Gamecube controllers so I can't wait for the ports to use them. Soon Nintendo will get back on track just because they fail a generation doesn't mean that can't come back stronger than ever. Also the Wii U isn't dead so it hasn't even totally failed yet.

E3 2014: Wii U's GameCube Controller Adapter Launches Alongside Super Smash Bros., Costs $20

I want them, plus Ganondorf, Falco, Meta-Knight, and Wolf. They were some of my all time favorites to play.

I want Meta Knight to be toned down so fighting him wouldn't be as much BS.
That aside, I think Wolf would be the only one of those that I'd be fine with them releasing.

And here I am who thinks that if ANY Brawl character had to be cut, Wolf would by far be my top priority. Star Fox doesn't deserve 3 characters (imo) over Metroid especially considering that he's another variation of Fox's move-set. Three pushed it for me.

Ganondorf needs a BIG overhaul too. He definitely deserves a place but he needs to actually fight like Ganondorf. There's like 20 games to choose from, there's no reason just to have given him variations of Captain Falcon even in Brawl. I don't have high hopes for that though considering Toon Link is once again a clone even though there's no reason for him to be. "Toon Link" has so many unique items I think its awful that they just slapped him with the same move-set as normal Link, especially on a Wii U title.

My priorities for returning are Ivysaur (but sadly it wont happen), Squirtle (again, not gonna happen...), Jigglypuff, Captain Falcon, Ness/Lucas, Ice Climbers, Meta Knight, Wario, Ganondorf and Snake. Falco and Wolf are acceptable losses to me, although I wouldn't mind one getting in again, just I'd be saddened if Wolf returns over the far more unique (and memorable) options. I'd like Mewtwo to return too, but I think that's hoping for too much.

Newcomers, beyond the leaked three still to come (none of which I personally care for, but I know others do so I'm cool with them being in here) is Ridley! And in fantasy world Birdo is by far my #1 choice! Also in fantasy, it would be nice if they surprised us and upgraded Ivysaur and Squirtle to Venusaur and Blastoise instead of once again focusing on the dragon that is quickly becoming more over-exposed then Pikachu.

Still, I'm not going to be suprised if the roster goes downhill from here. I remember when the 30 character roster for Mario Kart 8 was leaked and everyone thought "Well obviously Mii isn't counted there and the roster so far isn't good enough for a Wii U game and there's no way there's only 3 more reveals so I think there'll be an extra 5 characters!" and then it ended with "There ARE only 30, Mii IS counted as one of the 3 un-revealed and the other 2 are the worst options Mario Kart has ever included! Baby Rosalina and Pink Gold Peach! Suprise! We cut 9 characters! Yaaaay!".... Nintendo rosters have burned me before!

I am apathetic to Pac-Man. I think he's a "meh" addition but I was already prepared for the reveal so there wasn't nearly as much disappointment as there would've been if I didn't know he was coming, it gave me a chance to appreciate him more. Honestly Villager is the only Newcomer that's "wowed" me and the rest I've been "meh" on except for Rosalina who got a solid "huh, that's kind of cool".

Ridley though. Come on Nintendo. All will be forgiven for cutting Ivysaur just give us the damn Pterodactyl!

If they kept the rest of Pokemon Trainer's team, I would prefer if they didn't evolve them. I know, it prevents them from using their Final Smash as Mega Evos, but I liked the balanced Ivysaur and fast Squirtle over having 2 more tanks...

Wolf I'd be fine with dropping, I don't care enough about Falco as I've never been a big Star Fox guy (Though I do agree that Krystal with that stick thing would be more interesting than another Fox copy-paste if they did go with another Star Fox character), and I am still going to keep my fingers crossed for Ridley, because Ridley is awesome and Metroid needs a bit of good news after Other M and turning Dark Samus into an assist trophy (I'm actually a little bummed. Before you call it (Her?) a Samus clone, there's a lot they could do with Dark Samus to prevent it from being just Samus's black/dark blue color).

I'm rather optimistic towards the new characters as Pac-Man is pretty nice and Palutena looks fun. So far, the only new addition I wasn't a fan of was the Villager, and it was less that I didn't like him and more that I was just underwhelmed, so Smash hasn't burned me yet.

I'm fairly certain Meta Knight, Wario, C. Falcon, Ness, and Jigglypuff will return, but I also want Snake to come back.
And I would like Ganondorf to make a comeback, but for the love of god, give him his sword. You can keep the Warlock Punch, that's fine, but just let him have his blade...

I agree that I'd prefer Ivysaur and Squirtle to stay as they are, but if they had to choose between evolving them or cutting them I'd say EVOLVE! Still I don't think they'll make it. Pokemon and Animal Crossing are my favorite Nintendo properties but I can imagine the hate from people who aren't fans if they got 7-8 characters. Although I do argue Pokemon has so much potential it justifies it.

I love Villager though! I've been playing New Leaf nearly every single day since release so I'm so glad he got in. I think Animal Crossing definitely were due a character slot considering its solidified itself as one of Nintendo's top brands. I think they've managed to make him look really unique and fun so that excites me! Seriously, nothing has excited me for a video game more then that little reveal cut scene of Villager getting a letter in the first trailer since Bayonetta 2's announcement and Mega Venusaur's reveal. I squealed like a little girl!

Of the others, Megaman is cool, but I'm not a Megaman fan so I don't find myself too excited by him, Rosalina is a strange choice but her move-set is awesome, don't care for Pacman, Little Mac is a deserving choice but I'm not a Punch Out! fan, Palutena is honestly to me a bad choice (Kid Icarus currently holding as many slots as Metroid? Don't like) but her move-set actually does look like it justifies her position and Greninja is definitely not my top choice for a Pokemon but once again I do like his move-set a lot.

I also agree about Dark Samus. I felt FOR SURE that either Dark Samus or Ridley would get in, but the implication is that neither are! It seems like a kick in the crotch if Metroid gets no Newcomers and two of the most deserving Smash candidates get delegated to "stage hazard" and "Assist Trophy".

I just don't get no Ridley though. I mean, he is by far the most requested character, he comes from one of Nintendo's biggest franchises (which ironically still only has TWO representatives and they're the same character) and deserves the spot over nearly everyone revealed so far. I can't fathom why they seem so adamant not to please people by putting him in.

This is why Ridley doesn't get in.

That's a silly reason in a game in which Bowser is a character. There is absolutely nothing that would stop him from being changed to Bowser/Charizard's size, especially considering Ridley's size varies wildly throughout the different games.

I guess it helps that I'm a big fan of Mega Man, Super Mario Galaxy, and Punch Out!! (But alas, I'm not one of the lucky few who has defeated Mike Tyson...), so I'm super hype over Mac, Mega Man, and Rosalina getting added.
I'm kind of disappointed that a franchise that would be dead without Smash Bros, Kid Icarus, has as many representatives as one of their most popular mainstays, but I liked Palutena based on her trailer, so I'm being lenient towards her because she looks like a fun character.

The size argument is bullshit and you know it. Bowser goes from the size of a titan to being able to fit in a go-kart to too big to fit into the Mushroom Kingdom castle, but we're able to make him reasonably sized for Smash Bros, but Ridley goes from the same fucking height as Samus to 3 times her height to just a foot taller, but suddenly in game height matters?
Or how about the foot tall Pikachu standing a head shorter than Mario, or the 6'3 Samus standing as tall as the 5'7 Charizard?

The continuing awesomeness if this game will finally bring me back to Nintendo. I'll finally be joining the next gen consoles exclusively with the Wii U. Always been a massive Smash Bros fan but held out buying the Wii U til it was actually gonna have some real titles, that way I didn't get burnt again like I did with Wii.

I'm really loving all that Nintendo has added to the game, but I really wish they could find the room to add Wonder Red from the Wonderful 101. The attacks from the game could be easily translated into the Smash Bros style.

That would be a pretty cool addition. I'd be down for that (Or even Viewtiful Joe).
