My lips are sealed on the subject starting...... now. |

And I still don't get the complaints with the movie version of the ninjazords. Especially looking at that...when did we get that figure? Other than being overly shiny, which I blame on CGI being, not new, but the new big shiny thing to use, it just looks like a slimmed down version of the show suit, which makes sense for, you know, a ninja. |

Also, do you need more? Why does someone need an essay to dislike something? People feel it looks poorly designed, others agree that it looks poorly designed. That's all someone needs. The movie version of the Ninja Megazord gets hated on because it looks horrible. The CG aged very poorly, they cut corners by simply stretching models in some areas (The frog in their combined mode is the most apparent), the head change into a giant, clear cockpit was a bad design call that made it's head look too long and thin, and the overly shiny textures made it look too much like chromed plastic, rather than the machine like feel they were aiming for. It's all subjective, but it's what most people agree on, anyway... |

And other than the bit about the face and stretching the models a bit (it still looks proportionally fine to me), that basically seems like the only issue people have with the movie ninjazord is...well, the cgi, like I said, which isn't really a problem with the design itself, but the execution and that mostly is due to the time. |

Coming from TFW2005....Hey guys!
While this design is certainly...different, i think this design has the same problem as AOE Galvatron did... a Design that may look good and powerful in the film, but translates horrible into a toy. Saying that, why can't the Mastodon fill in the mid section and the Sabertooth fill in it's original position :( |

As for the hate spewing, no. That's his posting style, not yours. I'm suggesting that you shouldn't go down that road man. You've always been, in my eyes, logical and thought provoking. More akin to having a discussion instead of trying to prove a point. For anyone else, I'm not coming down on Split, nor did I say he's "hate-spewing." I said he doesn't need to act that way to get his point across because he can do it better. Quote:
Personally, I'm still on the fence about it. A fence that doesn't look like a fence but instead a Dinozaur fence. |

Honestly, it just needs more color to me >_>

I'm actually afraid they'll pull an Age of Extinction and actually remove most of the color in the final version of the film.

Those movies were clearly trying to be what they were named after. Jem was just a story about a band growing, and this robot thing that slapped the name on. |

I've always thought Narutaki looked like an Asian Eugene Levy.

I'm glad I watch SHT shows. So that I don't have to worry about Japan mucking up my giant robots.

Had a moment to think rationally (thank you espresso). There's a lot of ways this could go. It could be the Breakfast Club with elements of Looper. It could be like Percy Jackson but dark like the Divergent series. It could even be like Enders Game but with Transformers. I mean, those are awesome, right? Someone in Hollywood came up with those designs, and created masterpieces out of rehashed material and they're considered contenders for the Stank awards, right?
 All snark aside I will reserve judgement for actually attempting to watch this in the theaters. I did with Revenge of the Fallen. Have to be able to give the franchise a chance. Unfortunately it will already fall to the curse of Transformers live action movies just based on the design, the montage trailer footage, and the overriding instinct of long time fans. Love it or hate it, it's the same sentence as the Transformers series. "It's just not my Power Rangers." I have long since given up on the fact that original, fresh science fiction can exist. We've hit saturation. There are so many already published short stories and manuscripts that were just so good, and because some Holly-bro exec decided it wouldn't make money just canned it. The best stories are the ones that are NOT messed with so far that you can't recognize the source material. That is why Marvel and DC work (again, perception is everything). |
The combination toy version does a better job of that. But I have a feeling this toy is closer to the on-screen model...which does a better job of looking like Maizinkaizer than any Megazord known to us before.

i am so glad that Narutaki never appeared in Gaim....
http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/...20150726052608 Oh god he did well that show is now ruined after this thread thanks Asian Eugene Levy |
Thats Zordon's body....... Yup. I could totally picture his face being projected in that face shield.
So what's the story? He split up his body to create 5 power gems? |
Seriously that megazord should be sold to the Ryukendo creators so that they can make a sequel. The design alone is fine but honestly they messed up to think majority of the fans will tolerate that.

For the people that have a hard time understanding why some of us are criticizing this new take on a Megazord, let me try to explain my viewpoint a bit. Just play along with me for a minute.
Imagine if Dino Thunder was the original show. The Megazord was composed of three dinosaurs (T-Rex, Triceratops, & Pteradon). Then years later, a movie comes along trying to 'reboot' Dino Thunder. They redesign the Megazord to look different. Still made of up 3 dinos, but the Pteradon gets replaced with a Stegosaurus. And the yellow ranger is now pink (cause it sells better to girls or something). But if you look at the two of these Megazords, you can see just as many similarities as differences. Both are mostly made up of the T-Rex with its head prominently on display. Aux zord becomes arm. Left arm has a drill attachment. Made up of Red, Blue, & Yellow colors. If a person who only casually had heard of Power Rangers was shown the second picture, they would instantly recognize that it is Power Rangers related. http://i.imgur.com/dEOmiqU.jpg Now let's looks at MMPR vs Live Action. The departure is too radical. The only similarities are their horns and colors (the combiner toy has more coloring). If you showed this new toy to any layperson, no one would guess it belongs to Power Rangers. It's one thing to reimage the Megazord, but it is another thing to just say screw it and give us this. ESPECIALLY when they are still putting out TV shows that are still giving us toys in the same vein. Why depart from the franchise so hard when the franchise is still doing great as is? Why would the average person see this thing and think "Power Rangers"? http://i.imgur.com/FhfqUCR.jpg In all honesty, the Live Action Megazord has more in common with a mech from Zone of Enders. Seriously, just look at it. Humanoid person just wearing kevlar and occasionally bits of body armor. No actual face. A few glowy bits. Some stubby wings. Thingys on the hips. A stabby arm blade. http://i.imgur.com/l3TOTzR.jpg |
