I guess this isn't news anymore but Geed continues to kill it this week:
- I love how much they pack into these episodes without it feeling like anything is competing for space. You've got standalone MotW plots, character focus introductions, and solid world-building, all while still making time for humanizing things like Riku and Raiha arguing about their domestic life. It might not seem like anything special but I genuinely think Geed's structure so far has been fantastic. - We're now four for four on this show instantly making me really like characters I thought I wouldn't like all that much. That's Riku, Raiha, Zero, and now Moa for those keeping track. - She even saved the day through her own incompetence. That takes some real talent! - It's very polite of Zero to actively sit out entire episodes like this. - And hey, with Geed Primitive actually putting up a decent-ish fight for once maybe he can afford to let Riku handle things. - Have I mentioned how cool Solid Burning is though? Because it's really cool. - I think Leito might want to invest in new business cards. - Real talk? Moa's spit take at the end when Riku casually mentions Raiha and him are living together got a huge laugh out of me. |

That said another superb episode. |
Just finished the third episode! Question though, how many episodes is Geed getting? I can be patient and use my free trial for Crunchyroll Premium then

Just watched episode three and really enjoyed it. I wasn't sure how Zero's human host would work out, but I like him - he seems to be catching up to speed on what's going doing very quickly, and I like that. It would have gotten really old if he spent a large stretch of the series in the dark and flailing around.
The kid in this episode didn't get much focus, but it's hard to care because it quickly led to the Solid Burning fight and dear lord, that was great. I'm still not sure how much I like how excessively greebled that suit is, but it's pretty awesome in action. I do like the idea of the armor plates moving aside to activate attacks. The whole thing reminds me of the recent Ultraman manga where the suit is more like Iron Man armor. Finally, in this week's "This show is directed by Koichi Sakamoto" corner: Raiha does martial arts in slow motion for no apparent reason. |
Episode 4, not as good as the previous episodes, was pretty good. I hated how they CGI'd Eleking's tail instead of having an actual puppet tail. That makes it look kind of sad considering it was able to be done in the 60s. Moa is kind of an idiot, but I found the bit at the end to be hilarious. The Pit plot was resolved a little too easily though. Well whatever.

I just realized something. Ultraman Zero's host for the series regularly wears glasses. How often do we get Tokusatsu heroes that wear glasses regularly? I know there's Yellow Owl from Jetman, Kyoryu Violet from Kyoryuger, and a few Power Rangers examples but that's it. Are glasses just not in style?

But that aside Geed really is a anniversary for Seven looking back. The capsules, Zero, the glasses for Reito. Be it subtle or obvious it all ties in together. |

Anyone have any idea what this is? Its on the official channel but I'm not sure what it is exactly. |

I know somebody here was curious when the Geed Claw was going to appear in the show. Given that the toy releases on the 5th in Japan, the same day Acro Smasher's capsule set and vinyl figure drops, I doubt it'll be much longer. |
Geed is my first foray into Ultraman, but it's good enough that I'll start backtracking on series.

I highly recommend Mebius.

Awesome episode as usual:
- Acro Smasher was real neat. Basically a complete 180 from Solid Burning in terms of style. As a Cosmos fan I really appreciated how they hit all of Luna Mode's shticks. Graceful, yoga-esque movements, not making fists, and he even pacifies the monster instead of blowing it to s***! Musashi would be proud. - Side note: First Solid Burning and now Acro Smasher??? Are these Ultraman forms or rejected metal band names? - I feel stupid for not noticing the Little Stars give people powers directly related to which Ultraman the Capsule turns out to be until now. - That "dog" is adorable. - Riku and Moa are both terrible at keeping secrets. - Good thing that monster showed up when it did. Zero looked ready to do some things to that guy that would make this show very kid unfriendly very fast. - That cliffhanger was fun. It's like Kei got bored of the tidy way things have wrapped up the past few episodes and decided to go smashing up the city just for a change of pace. |
I liked this week's one shot character. He was a cheerful guy and, though I didn't understand a word of what they said, he seemed like a nice enough guy. Also, Acro Smasher was just as awesome as I expected it to be. I love Cosmos and I love Blue Ultraman so this form is tied with Primitive for being my favorite. I still like Solid Burning though.
On a side note, I watched the subs for last weeks episode and I'm surprised that AIB knows not only about the Ultra Garrison but also about King's sacrifice. They already know more then most of the heroes do. |
Man.... Geed is honestly been quite amazing for the past few episodes. I honestly want to watch the entire fight and not just the fights itself like I did with Orb.
On another note, has anyone seen the new designs for yet another Zero Power up? TBH, I think this series is going uphill from here. |

Riku looks a lot like a younger Leito next ep. I wonder if they will pass off Riku as Leito's nephew or something when he meets Leito's family.
|
Solid Burning is super cool but I think I like Acro Smasher more. I really like how differently Geed acts when he's using these other forms.
This show's been really good so far. With the ending of this episode and the preview for the next one, it doesn't look like that's going to change! Also, Moa's adorable! |
Watched episode four last night and really liked it. I am loving the cast this show has been assembling over the last few weeks; it's a good mix of characters who seem like they'll bounce off of each other nicely. I was a little nervous about Moa, but I think she's going to work really nicely as a comic relief character.
|
Loved Episode 4 of Geed, going to watch Episode 5 soon. Moa is such a fun character and I love the whole MIB-like angle with the AIB. It's what made me like UltraSeven X. Riku continues being awesome and I really love the mythos being used here. This is reaching the level of Orb for me really quickly. I can't wait for more.
|
Moa is my waifu. I can't quite explain it.
Loving the show too. This is my first foray into Ultraman. I also love how Chihiro Yamamoto is the real deal. I went back to some of her competition videos. Just awesome. |

I just watched the subs for episode 5 and I still don't understand the VOTW's jokes. Are they puns? They sound like puns but I'm not sure if Crunchyroll's subs reflected that. Was I just not paying close enough attention to the wording the subs used?
Also, the Geed Claw reminds me a lot the Max Galaxy from Ultraman Max. On that note, I think it was a really smart choice making the Geed Claw usable in any form rather then just a single form. Burnmite from Orb wasn't really used as often as Hurricane Slash because of toys so hopefully Solid Burning and Acro Smasher will have an equal amount of screen time. |
I loved episode 6 even more than I usually love this show:
- I guess that means anytime Zero joins in the action the episode is above average? Pretty ironic considering how sure I was he'd drag the rest of the show down before he showed up. They even worked his fanfic-y traits of impossible coolness and hyper-competence into a plot point by having him indirectly ruin Geed's street cred. Brilliant! - On which note, these pie charts are super meta. 37% of people hate Ultraman Geed? Come on, it's a good show! - It was great seeing Reito be more than just comic relief so early on. - The more I see of Riku the more I like him. It feels like there's a fair bit of nuance to him you don't usually get out of protagonists of his ilk. He's upbeat and heroic without coming off as boring or flat. - The Geed Claw is pretty neat? I'm not entirely won over by it yet but it's certainly something unique. Honestly I mostly just don't get why it's largely blue if it isn't actually just Acro Smasher's weapon. Maybe it was going to be that (and a lot of the early promotional material only showed it that way iirc) but they changed it just far enough into production for the color to be locked in? Or something? It kind of speaks to the quality of this show so far that this is as close to a complaint as I can come. |
I'll just leave this here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pik92TYv52c Not much to say about this one other than "everybody should be watching this show". Also I think I love Zero now? No idea how that happened, but, here I am. |
This episode was great. Seems like shit gets real whenever Galactron shows up.
The Geed Claw is kind of dumb, but eh whatever. Sell those toys I guess. Oh, Leito's wife is totally Mizuki from Ultraman Max. Took me long enough to realise that. |
Yeah I'm not a big fan of the Geed claw either. This thing is just too small and toy-looking to have any real impact.
The episode itself was great though. Loved the idea of Kei rewriting Zero's battles to make Belial the hero. Zero's sacrifice would have been a much bigger moment is we didn't immediately know he was coming back next week. Magazine scans/next week previews spoil so much these days :lol Still not a big fan of Zero's new form though. |
DAAAAANNNNNNNGGGGGG...
Fukuide is straight-up lying about Zero and his heroics?! AND PRINTING MONEY BY DOING SO. |

I think the toy-demos are the stupidest thing about those weapons, how they always cut to the human form using it like "See kids this is how you play with this, now ask your parents to buy it already". Rider and Sentai are a lot more subtle with this kinda stuff, wish Ultraman learned it too.
Design-wise I dig all of the weapons, but they need to treat them less like toys in-universe. As for Geed specifically, I like that he "unlocked" the claw, yet I hate that he uses it in base-form too, I prefer it if weapons belong to a specific form. They kinda play with this by having each form use it differently but still, I don't feel like the base form needs this and neither do the others really. |
The toy demo things are definitely one of the most notable aspects of the post-Ginga Ultraman shows. Especially with the transformation sequences, they just sort of create this disconnect between what the human form is doing to what's actually happening. I'd say Orb was probably the best at doing them. Since we always see Gai in that black undersuit whenever he transforms, it sort of implies that all the motions and things he does with the cards are happening in his mind rather than being some literal thing that he's doing. Similarly, the way they used the Orb Calibur was better since they also show the Ultraman form doing all those motions, rather than just the human form.
