Okay then so who thinks we might get Power Rangers Transformers crossover figures by Hasbro?

The other Transformers Crossovers aren’t released by Takara, after all. |

Hopefully IDW and Boom will work something out. Power Rangers avoids one of the inherent issues of crossing over with Transformers as they can use the Zords and give us giant robot battles. Quote:

Heh, Hasbro announces anything for Transformers, the 2005 boards get filled up with how much Hasbro sucks, and how cheap they've gotten. Hasbro gets the PR rights, this board rejoices the brand is saved. |
I really hope we get Galactabeast toys and I don't mean Galactazords which they into. I would be okay getting both them.
|
I just realized that we might get figure of the bad guys from Forever Red by Hasbro.

Toei co-owns Power Rangers. Nobody can do anything with the property without Toei's OK.

To elaborate, the entire reason Power Rangers has gotten this far is because the brand is incredibly cheap to do anything for due to half the footage/props being made for them. If it wasn't this cheap, then it would have died all the way back in In Space. If Hasbro wants to keep the brand going, and they obviously do if they want the rights, then they need to keep using the Sentai. Making something completely new for it, invariably, be animation or a live action series, would be more expensive than just doing what its done for years. And yes, Toei does own the footage. It's their intellectual property, and using it without permission could lead to lawsuits. If they didn't like a deal that was happening, they could easily break Saban off from it as well. No matter what, Toei has to be fine with this deal, and that most likely means that Takara is nowhere near this. |

Meanwhile, both Power Rangers and Transformers heavily involve things that turn into robots, and we're in the middle of a series based around combining robots. And one of those combiners is based around dinosaurs. If it does happen, we'd probably get it as a convention exclusive, like at Hascon. It definitely wouldn't be a full line on its own. Or we could just get a comics crossover. There's definitely a lot of fun that could come from that. |

So if that is true, and it might not be, I'm no expert in business management, that would mean that who has the rights to produce the Power Rangers toys in America, is almost inconsequential to Bandai proper. |
BOA and BOJ are owned by the same company, so of course BOJ cares. At the same time, if Bandai Namco gave an executive order to begin the buyout process of Toei, ditch Saban Brands and adapt Super Sentai and Kamen Rider themselves in-house for a global audience, as part of their big push into original content and IPs and to appease growing concerns from shareholders that they're hoarding cash reserves and not spending it, then of course BOJ isn't fussed. Though we'll find out next year what the future holds.
Without new Japanese footage to mine from, there wasn't much for Saban Brands to do except sell Power Rangers to whoever would have it, and was okay adapting unused footage from 5 years ago, as a stopgap between eras. Well, that's how I see it. |
So HyperForce figures by Hasbro.

And there's something else I have to wonder. Hasbro and Takara have heavily benefited from their partnership for Transformers helping them recoup mold costs. For Bandai of Japan, back when it was just adapting their toys for the US market they were able to get more money for those DX Megazords and the like. Once BOA started Zord Builder that stopped. And Toei got more out of the shows they were doing, with what I would assume was minimum risk and cost to themselves. After all the footage was all shot, and the suits all made. I'm assuming Saban and Disney picked up the production costs for the new stuff. I mean I'm guessing that if say the Sentai that's being subbed by Shout doesn't do well, it's not a loss for Toei, just Shout. And I imagine that makes Toei and Bandai Japan HATE the two year contracts and skipping from Nick. Because that means there's a bunch of shows they lost that auxiliery profit from. There's always a chance that a Sentai that did poorly will be adapted into a Power Rangers that does very well. Heck I heard once that a Power Rangers did better than the Sentai it was adapted from when subbed in Japan, which if true is awesome. Quote:

US-only toys though, I agree with. |

The decision to go back to Go-Busters was a joint one, as Toei dictates which seasons Saban uses. Saban has full access to Zyuoh and Kyu, they just chose to adapt a series with better marketability, as Kyu's gimmick relied on electronics, which seemed to be the one thing they like cutting the most (Well, that's BOA's MO, but Hasbro doesn't do a lot of electronics in their TFs too often), while Zyuoh's cube gimmick is a harder sell. |
I do wonder if the 2019 PR season is just one season only? I don't think Go-Busters has enough stuff for a two season show.

You can argue that shows like Ninninger and Kyoryuger don't have a lot to work with, and look what they got there. |

Disney tried to make an animated Power Rangers before, and Toei were able to successfully veto it due to the amount of control they have with the franchise. I'd say more but...at this point I'm just wasting my time. |

And then there's the fact the new contract with nick is 3 years. An odd number. So that doesn't seem to be to make much sense if they were doing two shows of two years each, but a lot more if it's either one show of one year and one of two years, or three shows of one year. And if they let the Nick guys in on the Hasbro deal while negotiating that strengthens their posistion at the contract negotiations. |
Go-Busters has a few good ending points that could constitute season enders, though judging by the description, I feel they're probably going to keep Enter as Dark Buster as the final boss. The show even has super forms for all the rangers during the second half, which would help make the divide even clearer.
And yeah, Go-Busters has a lot of plot going on through it that would require a second season at least. Despite there being one auxiliary mech, there are still the same amount of mechs that most other recent Sentai seasons have. Trying to clog that all into a 20 episode series would make it feel like Megaforce, and they probably aren't going to do that again. |
Go-Busters has 3 Megazords (Ace, Beet, and Li-Oh), and 4 other zords that can combine with them.
I think Hasbro can stretch things out decently well, perhaps by creating a custom combination for Yellow and Blue, letting the movie exclusive frog interact with the other zords more, or allowing for Beet to combine with Yellow and Blue without Ace. |
They'll probably end up releasing Ace separate from the gorilla and rabbit mechs as well, even if they're still first wave. Ace has enough to it that it's a good toy on its own from what I can tell.
Then once other mechs start being introduced, make a three pack with all the mechs. Seems pretty straightforward to me. |
